[00:00:00] Speaker A: Sam. [00:00:43] Speaker B: Waking up dreaming dark so long. [00:00:48] Speaker A: I cannot find meaning hold my hand let me stay by your side through this never ending night I can feel. [00:01:00] Speaker B: It now it holds me all the. [00:01:03] Speaker A: These demons always roam me in this red light because me he is reaching out consuming. [00:01:30] Speaker B: Hello everybody. Welcome back to Goblets and Gays. I'm Aubrey, your gm. I will toss over to my players to introduce themselves, who they they are, who they're playing and then we'll go rolling into things. [00:01:40] Speaker A: Hi, I'm Aki and I play the vigilante Grave Wing who is a Nagaji self monk and kineticist. We both use she her pronouns. [00:01:51] Speaker C: Hello, I'm Sparlock and I play Alistair Whiskerfield, the great rat detective, arcane archer and wizard extraordinaire. The revolutionary firebrand, sworn enemy to the Scriabins and scourge of the bourgeoisie and master of Nicodemus Tower. We both use he him pronouns. [00:02:13] Speaker B: Things are going to be a little interesting. We're not going to have our usual recap person so who wants to step up to the plate to tell me what happened last time? [00:02:23] Speaker A: The season starts with everybody like kind of low key exactly where they were. We have we were visited by the tyrant again and the tyrant being like besties. What the I could give you anything. I can give you anything at all. Why are you fighting me? And like majority of us were like because and then we just continued fighting and and two of us weak links are are failed their roles Then it goes to the next day we all wake up, we're all really tired and we devise a not so great but maybe kind of great we'll see plan of splitting the party. Two of us remain above ground because we have a whole bunch of shit going on and the last time all of us left like 20 people died and I'm only accounting for the bloody blades and not the people who were also on trial who most definitely died. I'm gonna gu say it 25 people died so you know that's not great. Alistair and Graveling are staying above ground and Nile, Yuri and Leif are going below ground to rescue Lou. Meanwhile Lou has gained regained sentience, has recognized that their mom is just so stuck in up as this bird and also totally cheated on her gross dad with an even grosser guy. Wonderful. The grosser guy was like yeah I'm low key fucking your mom but I can't fuck your mom while she's in this bird form that I kind of put her in but I didn't inject her with the thing that turned her into this. Your gross father did. And so like Lou's understanding that her entire family is just so. It's just gross. This is just gross. Lou's like, what the fuck is here? And now I'm in a hole with this. And. And she's not having it. Not having it to the degree that she sends the moth back. One moth got eaten. She sends that mechanical moth back to Grave Wings specifically to be like, don't rescue me. I can get out myself. Which is banana. What the. No. Oh my God. And then Grave Wing sent the moth back to Yuri and the bolo team. We got an elevator and a bunch of other made because the. We have like three inventors now, which is kind of crazy. It's kind of wild. I'm waiting for somebody to Einstein the other person, but you know, think things are happening. I'm trying. What else, what else, what else, what else, what else, what else, what else? That's it, isn't it? That's basically it. [00:05:27] Speaker B: That's basically it. Yeah. [00:05:29] Speaker A: It. But scattered. But that's it. Yeah. [00:05:32] Speaker B: Yeah. You. You all had to wait till the. The. Till the next day for the bridges to reopen so you can cross to the other side of Malakad. The as you're heading out and getting ready to cross so Tristan can, you know, go see the kids again, there is a. While you're heading through Darklight Bazaar, there are town criers spreading news. And the. The biggest is that after the disaster at the Lark Masquerade which unfortunately claimed the life of all of the larks, unfortunately, the high priest has decided to step up security yet again. The toll on the bridges has increased to 2 silver. [00:06:33] Speaker A: And. [00:06:35] Speaker B: That there will be more guards stationed around for everyone's safety. Especially as dissidents continue to rise in the city. [00:06:49] Speaker A: You said two silver. [00:06:51] Speaker B: Two silver. [00:06:54] Speaker A: Absolute bull, my guy. Excuse me. [00:06:59] Speaker B: I think you all have spent more money crossing this bridge than you have on anything else this. This campaign. [00:07:09] Speaker A: Cuz you suck. [00:07:14] Speaker C: Highway robbery. [00:07:16] Speaker A: What's the silver to gold ratio again? Because I. I managed to have my solid amounts of gold again. [00:07:23] Speaker B: It is 10 silver for one gold. [00:07:25] Speaker A: 10 silver. One gold. Thank you, bananas. Okay, is. So it's just. Right now, it's just I'm assuming me, Alistair and Tristan. Or did anybody else come? [00:07:44] Speaker B: Lorelei does not come because she is currently trying to figure out what is going on with the blades and get a lead on whoever might be the traitor. [00:07:55] Speaker A: Oh yeah. Yeah. There's a mole. Yeah. [00:07:57] Speaker B: Yeah. You. It's just the three of you, as you head across the bridge, you know, Tristan keeps his head down. [00:08:12] Speaker A: Just, like, invest in a hoodie. My guy. [00:08:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, he's got. He's got, like, a hat on. [00:08:23] Speaker A: We're just going Silver quartz idle. Yeah, my. My little commission thingy was in dark, like. I'm good. [00:08:29] Speaker B: I'm good. Yeah, yeah. So you. You head to Silver Court first to the very familiar estate of the Midnights. [00:08:42] Speaker A: I have a key now. I know the. I know where the secret key is. Just gonna let it in. And once the door is, like, closed and locked, then kind of announce, you know, we're here. Most of us are here. [00:09:00] Speaker B: And less than half you are once again greeted by Proxima as she sort of comes out of what appears to be probably what you think is maybe a training room of some kind. Well, you know, is a training room. Currently in sort of her training gear. Hair tied back. And immediately it sees. Tristan gets very excited. Tristan gets glomped because, you know, Proxima doesn't know how to hug people normally. [00:09:35] Speaker A: Glomped. [00:09:37] Speaker B: Yes. [00:09:42] Speaker A: I just need you to know I'm having an outer body experience because my. My body. The vessel remembers this word, but, like me, the host does not. I don't. Okay, whatever. [00:09:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:01] Speaker A: Maybe then. Okay. [00:10:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:05] Speaker A: Cool. Hugging. Where's. Did your parents come back okay? [00:10:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, parents came back fine. They. They said a lot happened. [00:10:24] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I'll fill. I'll fill you in. Where's the rest of them? [00:10:34] Speaker B: Everyone's scattered, but I can go gather them. You want to wait in the dining room? There should be some breakfast left over, so help yourself. [00:10:49] Speaker A: I'm just gonna let Tristan eat it. [00:10:52] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, he's. He's. He's gonna eat. He has real food for the first time in, like, a month. [00:11:01] Speaker A: Technically. Technically, Nile made us all breakfast. Yeah, but this is a man, so she's gonna probably eat more. [00:11:13] Speaker B: Yeah, this. This. Or read. You know, bottomless pit of a stomach. And before you know it, everyone is brought into the dining room. You see the midnights, you see the rest of the kids, and immediately Tristan hugs, kisses all of the kids. It has been so long for him. And he is excited. He's excited to, you know, hold his child and make sure that everyone's okay. So. [00:11:52] Speaker A: And I'm gonna fill the Midnights in on the current situation with anathema. That's us. And also with the bloody blades, actually, because I feel like they. They should be aware about the potential mole situation since they have been involved. But truthfully, their Involvement has always been with us, the group, and then Lorelei when we brought her. So I feel like their identities and their involvements are relatively safe. But, like, still just in case I'm like, covering. [00:12:30] Speaker B: Their involvement has stayed on this side of the city. [00:12:32] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. So I'm just kind of covering all the bases. Yeah, for now. Oh, my God. I just realized the implication of a mole means that they know about Nadia. [00:12:46] Speaker B: I'm sure it's fine. [00:12:47] Speaker A: Oh, boy. And Marigold. Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy, oh boy. Fellas, we're kind of fucked. Oh, Dusty, go tell Alyssa. Oh, boy. Oh, yeah, actually, Ambrook too. Everybody that we've rescued so far. [00:13:08] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:13:11] Speaker A: It'S Oscar. I bet it's Oscar. Bet it's Oscar. I put, I bet it's Oscar. I put my, I put, I put one gold on it. I put one, one gold on it. [00:13:23] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. As you have the bit of a revelation where you're like, huh, maybe we should move these people or get them to safer places. And that's the thing to worry about later. [00:13:36] Speaker A: Alistair's tower is looking more and more appealing. [00:13:41] Speaker C: I mean, it's perfectly fine. [00:13:44] Speaker A: Keep the people we rescued. It's, it's perfectly fine if you're rat folk sized. That's actually, actually it's a good point. I'm gonna turn to Alistair, just kind of be like, do you think you can help Lorelai with the, the mole situation? [00:14:07] Speaker C: Well, I'm not a doctor, but I can take a look at it. [00:14:10] Speaker A: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Not. [00:14:15] Speaker C: Oh, you mean the traitor. [00:14:17] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah, I was trying to be, I was trying to be subtle. [00:14:27] Speaker C: I can help out. There's got to be some spells to figure out. I start going through all my scrolls, like, oh, the most I can do is scare someone and now only work against one person. [00:14:46] Speaker A: What about finding them? [00:14:49] Speaker C: I, I, I don't have any spells for that. But, you know, the rest of you. [00:14:53] Speaker A: I'm talking about your occupation. My guy. Oh, Grave wing does not see my guy. That was me. [00:15:06] Speaker B: Alistair, what about these spells? Graving. Aren't you the great mouse detective? [00:15:12] Speaker A: You're the great mouse detective. I mean, your profession. [00:15:17] Speaker C: Yeah, I was just thinking about, oh, what is it, like Zone of Truth? I'm like, wait, that's a 5e spell. I don't have access to that. That makes things happen real quick. But yes, I, I could definitely. We, we need to get everyone away though, because, like, if we're going through their stuff looking for any evidence, that won't work. [00:15:43] Speaker B: While they're away. [00:15:46] Speaker C: While they're there. [00:15:49] Speaker A: Okay, I think I can help with that. I was contemplating doing something, but I think I can get, I can get them all away from their things for a period of time. [00:16:04] Speaker C: And we, I can help with getting some people into the tower that need protection. [00:16:16] Speaker A: Let's, yeah, let's think on that real quick. Or not real quick. Let's just, let's just think on that before we do anything I don't want. I'm moving people when there's less of us right now. [00:16:36] Speaker B: Yeah. And as this is going on, you watch as Veralis lays out a map of Malach and with whatever he has on hand starts like marking things, sort of putting these little figures on each ones of these districts. And he, he goes, I've been doing some research into this, the High Priest's blade. And it appears that he has divided up some of the districts into their essentially purview. Each one is been assigned to a specific area and looks like may have something to do with whatever's going on there. Puts a figure over on Salvation Row, sort of just this, this like salt shaker and goes, we know for sure that Johnny Rotten controls the row right now. Especially with the bounty out on Mistapria's head. [00:17:53] Speaker A: That's a nasty. I look at the kids, I, I'm very, I've been cursing a lot, but I, I, I like squid. Super hard stuff. That's some nasty stuff. Work. [00:18:06] Speaker B: Nasty business. [00:18:12] Speaker A: Okay, who, who's in, what are the other districts? [00:18:18] Speaker B: So from things I can gather and takes another sort of just takes a fork and puts it over on Emerald Reach and says from what my sources say, bloodline has been given this district to safeguard. Apparently he might as well be the right hand of the High Priest. [00:18:55] Speaker A: That's wonderful. [00:18:59] Speaker B: And then we'll take another item, put it over on, put it, put one over on Clockwork Halls and say we believe the one known as Bedlam is assisting the Scaban with their union busting in clockwork calls. Takes this small little dragon figurine and puts it on the Darklight Bazaar and says the one they call Snapdragon has been assigned the bazaar. [00:19:41] Speaker A: Oh, he's not that bad. [00:19:44] Speaker B: Well, I'll take your word for it. And then there is a coin is put on to the Ash district and says someone named Madame Hollow has been given the Ash district to also work with. Whatever the Scrabins are doing in their own district, whatever it is, it sounds very important. And then last but not least, there is another coin and it goes on Ravenswood Academy and says the one known as the Sin Eater is here. [00:20:37] Speaker A: Is. Huh. [00:20:41] Speaker C: Does that ring any bells? The Sin Eater. [00:20:45] Speaker B: If you would like to any of you roll me. Society checks on any of these names. Go ahead. [00:20:52] Speaker A: Yes, please. Especially B. I think my, my brain wants to correlate Madame Hollow with the Bride. But like at the same time I was like. Or maybe there's multiple veiled. Technically there was only one in my previous notes. [00:21:13] Speaker C: Do you want just kind of one role for all of them or do we need to name who we're rolling for? [00:21:21] Speaker B: If there's a specific one you want to go after, you can get more detailed information. But if you just want like an overview of all of them, you can get some basic information. [00:21:35] Speaker A: I'll do. I just rolled. So I, I, I'll just do the, the, the all of them glimpse. I feel like that makes more sense for me. And I rolled. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Well. [00:21:43] Speaker A: So 30. [00:21:45] Speaker B: Yeah, 30. So generally I don't need to tell you anything about Bloodline. You already know about Bloodline. You. Johnny also someone you've interacted with before. You're aware of his machinations. Bedlam is someone that you've probably encountered several times before. It is sort of an inventor who decided he wanted to do things his own way and is sort of built his own sort of like armored suit that he uses to cause problems. Snapdragon Fire Kineticist who is usually seen with another. There's a, an Ice Kineticist who he's usually Ice Water Kineticist he's usually seen with, but nobody has spotted Winter in a while. And Madame Hollow could quite possibly be the same person as the Bride. The name is unfamiliar to you. And the Sin Eater, he's supposed to be dead. You relatively remember Widow stabbing him before kicking him into the river. But it appears he has survived. Long story short for him, he's a serial killer. [00:23:31] Speaker A: Okay, cool. I'll clock that. That guy's supposed to be dead. Oh, I didn't say that. Go, Rick. It's. They won't. [00:23:41] Speaker C: But I'm doing a blind GM roll of conspiracy lore on this undead or dead character. [00:23:55] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. So you're relatively sure that the stories all had the Zenita as walking around in bloody lamplighter garb specifically for the the Star Mother with Star Mother remnants and would specifically target the like lower, lower income areas and people he deemed to have sinned against the Star Mother. [00:24:30] Speaker C: And bloody robes. [00:24:35] Speaker A: Yeah, no, my sister kind of dealt with him. As in killed him. I, I feel like I should. I should be A little bit more. [00:24:47] Speaker C: Well, they have been having a tendency to come back lately. [00:24:51] Speaker A: Yeah, but that was a while ago. [00:24:55] Speaker C: So he's just a smellier ghoul. [00:25:01] Speaker A: You know, I wouldn't. I wouldn't put it past it. Whatever. Whatever le's bomb is, I wouldn't put it past anybody doing it to more people. I don't know. [00:25:22] Speaker B: I'm going to sort of gesture this. This is kind of how the city looks right now with the High Priest's blade, it makes it harder for everyone to move. [00:25:36] Speaker A: Just. Just at a. Just at a glance. My personal beef, I want to get Johnny out as soon as possible. He's longer he's there, the worse it's going to be for people. However, I think the easiest one to do is actually snap Dragon easy in a sense that he has a partner and his partner is not here or well, hasn't been here for. How did he break up? [00:26:14] Speaker B: Okay, no, we know about. [00:26:18] Speaker C: Yeah, my. The Sin Eater sounds more interesting. [00:26:25] Speaker B: And. [00:26:27] Speaker C: I, you know, anything to do with the Scriabins, but those might be best left till we have a little more manpower. [00:26:39] Speaker A: I can see person power. Yeah. I can see us snooping around clockwork halls though if you want to continue snooping. We. We do have. I just point to Tristan. He's. He's liked there. So. [00:26:59] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:59] Speaker A: Do have extra help. [00:27:01] Speaker B: Yeah, well. And as I mentioned to you last time, I. I know somebody who might have a lead on Widow. So they're worth talking to because another set of hands can't hurt. [00:27:15] Speaker A: Well, who's. Who's your guy? [00:27:21] Speaker B: Well, hopefully she'll talk to me. Never really liked the status quo to Lamplighter Judith. [00:27:37] Speaker A: Okay, can you set up a meeting? [00:27:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I can reach out or if there's a good chance that they'll be probably. Look at the time. I'm saying it's. They'll probably be somewhere near the temple. [00:28:01] Speaker A: Now. [00:28:02] Speaker B: Soonish. Yeah, it's probably about that time of day. [00:28:06] Speaker A: Okay. Do you have breathable clothes? I look. Don't want to around, but I don't know what your suit is. My guy. I gotta stop saying my guy. This is me. This is Miyaki. What's happening. [00:28:33] Speaker B: Yeah, but he's just like. Yeah, no, I have a stash of like actual clothes here that I can, you know, kind of look the part. [00:28:46] Speaker A: Okay, well then suit up and then put civvies back on so we can. [00:28:51] Speaker B: Exactly. And he's going to go change into fresh clothes and we'll be back in like a minute or two. Doesn't take him that long. You know, kind of shrugging on the. The long jacket he grabbed from North Star. You know, there is his. His. His hair is a little bit unkempt lately, but it. It doesn't stand out too much. [00:29:30] Speaker A: Yes, good. [00:29:35] Speaker B: He's trimmed the beard so it's. At least. It doesn't look wild anymore. [00:29:46] Speaker A: I'm just gonna make sure I say bye to the. To the kids. [00:29:50] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:51] Speaker A: And once again, remind the older ones to not go out or do any patrols now that it's even more strict, like, stay out of. Stay the fuck out of these districts. Specifically, you know, the one with the serial killer in it would be great. Go away. And like, maybe don't stick around your dad right now because he's being weird. And just like, what if they just stayed at home? But, like, also, I know they're not gonna do it. They will continue to patrol, so that sucks. And I guess when we're ready to go, we'll just go. [00:30:40] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:30:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Twilight Grove. You'll be heading into Twilight Grove, where the majority of the temples are. [00:30:53] Speaker A: Oh, that's so close. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:31:00] Speaker B: It's where I have to ask you, Judith. What? What? Which one of the gods do you worship? [00:31:09] Speaker D: Judith worships the Voice. [00:31:14] Speaker B: So the temple that you come across is one dedicated to the Voice. And the Voice is a. A God dedicated to confidence, truth and zeal. Their edicts are to confront oppression in all forms, hold valor in your heart, and always strive to speak the truth. So the. The temple itself is a little bit more rambunctious than some of the other temples out there. It is a place where ideas should be free and spoken and people debate. And there also may be some people enjoying libations. Words flow free. Sometimes the alcohol flows free. And as you all step into this temple, Judith, give us a bit of description of yourself and what they see. [00:32:30] Speaker D: So Judith is a fairly tall woman with light brown skin. She's wearing the robes of a lamplighter and has her holy symbol very prominently on a necklace. She's got blonde hair in a very, like, elaborate braided hairdo. Currently, like, tied up and out of the way. I think compared to some of the other, like, worshipers of the Voice, like, you know, as they are all quite loud and rambunctious. She is a lot calmer, a lot more low key. You generally find her, like, patching people up after they've gotten into something they shouldn't have gotten into. She also has these, like, piercing, light blue eyes that just seem to look through people. I guess it's pathfinder. I should also search like she is human. [00:33:50] Speaker B: Yeah. You see someone that you haven't seen for a while. You see the. This man, this human or Reed Tristan Lark. Even though relatively sure he doesn't go by Lark anymore. And especially you know, because there was a whole big hubbub recently among the nobles of him being disowned by his family. [00:34:21] Speaker D: Tristan, I'm glad to see you're doing well. I hope you're doing well. [00:34:28] Speaker B: Things have been certainly better. Judith, this is turns and I'm gonna ask you Aki, how would Tristan introduce you? [00:34:45] Speaker A: This better not dox me. [00:34:48] Speaker B: He's not gonna. [00:34:49] Speaker A: I'll kill him. I'm already gonna kill him. What do you mean? First name bases like this. Oh, I'll. I'll gut you just as an associate for now is. Is good. Like don't. Don't name like. I don't think he'd ever name drop me. [00:35:08] Speaker B: No, he wouldn't. [00:35:09] Speaker A: Yeah. I think honest to God, making up a name on the spot is probably funny. But yeah, like associate is fine for now. [00:35:22] Speaker B: These are my associates. Points at Graving and Alistair. We are. I was hoping you could give me a hand with something. [00:35:39] Speaker D: I believe I do owe you a favor and any associates of yours I'm sure are good people. So what can I do for you? [00:35:51] Speaker B: There's someone who's missing and has been for a while and I was kind of hoping you might have heard something. [00:36:06] Speaker D: Her expression gets like a little bit more serious. She goes, is this a conversation that we should have in private. [00:36:18] Speaker B: Look around and say to its fullest extent, yes. [00:36:25] Speaker D: Then why don't we go to my office? [00:36:29] Speaker B: Sounds great. [00:36:33] Speaker D: And she is going to lead everyone like away from the main temple area and into like a side hallway where it's much quieter, much less foot traffic and take you into a room that like, she called it an office. There is basically like a little writing desk and an altar in one corner that's got like a pillow laid down in front of it for prayer and like one shelf that's just got a bunch of holy texts on it and that's basically the whole room. Yeah, she's just going to sit on top of the desk and ask, all right, so what's really going on? [00:37:37] Speaker B: Well, looks at the other two of that he. He has with him before he goes. You're. I am. You're aware that I engage in some extracurricular activities is the best way to put it. I believe the. The word that's Been spreading around is vigilantism. And about a month ago, we got split up, my partners and I, and we're still missing one of them. [00:38:27] Speaker D: Do you have a name? Usually at least a description. [00:38:40] Speaker B: And he says nom the plume of Widow. And we'll give a sort of a brief description. Taller than Gray Wing. Right. [00:38:59] Speaker A: So much taller. She's taller than. She's taller than both of them. [00:39:03] Speaker B: Yeah. And we'll give sort of a. A description of her of, you know, Naganji. Taller than Grave Wing. Kind of last seen in this outfit. Has their possible connections to someone in maybe Silver Court or Emerald Reach. Keeping her kid. Well have kidnapped her. I was keeping her prisoner. That's the word I was looking for. [00:39:49] Speaker D: All right. I see. And do you know who's responsible or are you still searching? [00:40:00] Speaker B: We'll look at Grave Wing once more and say we believe quite possibly the right hand of the high priest. One known as bloodline as her hidden somewhere. They are related. [00:40:24] Speaker A: I step on his foot. Never mind. I'll just fully kick the guy. Actually, we were in a private room. Quick. [00:40:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:40:38] Speaker A: I have also been like my. So like, my face is quite covered even in like, civies and stuff. But like, I, I, I think I am very pointedly making it clear that I have not taken my, my, my eyes off of. Off of Judith. Very, very. I feel like it's very obvious. It's like I'm watching you and then I go kick him and he has. [00:41:10] Speaker D: This is quite a situation you found yourself in. [00:41:19] Speaker B: Tell me about it. [00:41:22] Speaker D: The right hand of the high priest is not a. Not an enemy I would trifle with lightly. [00:41:34] Speaker B: Yeah. Just putting it lightly. [00:41:38] Speaker D: But I think I can help you. [00:41:43] Speaker A: What does your help cost us? [00:41:47] Speaker D: Well, would you believe I'm doing it simply because it's the right thing to do? [00:41:59] Speaker A: No. Vibe check. Can't. Vibe check. [00:42:01] Speaker C: Yeah. I was about to say, do we believe that? [00:42:06] Speaker A: Let's mutually vibe check because it's gonna be funny. [00:42:12] Speaker C: That's what a persuasion check against our perception. DC's or. No, that. That seems backwards. [00:42:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:42:20] Speaker C: Perception against their persuasion. [00:42:22] Speaker B: DC. Yeah, give or take. [00:42:28] Speaker D: My DC is 22. [00:42:33] Speaker A: Oh, okay. I, I meet. I meet that with a 22 as well. [00:42:40] Speaker C: I really. I got a 22 as well. [00:42:44] Speaker A: That. Oh, my God, we're matching. [00:42:49] Speaker D: Yeah. I think you can vibe check that Judith is like, kind of half telling the truth that she does just help people because it's the right thing to do, but she does kind of expect something from. His name's not Travis. Is it like, because It's Tristan asking. She kind of does expect something in return. [00:43:17] Speaker C: As long as Tristan's the one paying the price. I give a look at Grave Wing like they cool. I. I don't say the as long as Tristan is paying the price. That's communicated in my look. [00:43:34] Speaker A: I give you a deeper frown. Okay, seriously, what do you want? [00:43:44] Speaker D: Bloodline is a problem. And if I help you get to him, I should hope you would solve that problem. [00:44:01] Speaker A: He's on the list of problems I need to solve. [00:44:08] Speaker D: Then we're aligned. [00:44:13] Speaker A: More important question, why is he your problem? [00:44:18] Speaker D: Because the city is rotten and the High Priest is rotten, and I do what I can, but there's only so much that one lamplighter can do here. [00:44:42] Speaker A: I will extend a hand, like to shake and just say. [00:44:55] Speaker B: Well. [00:44:58] Speaker A: As long as we're aligned. My name is Grave Wing. It's nice to meet you. [00:45:08] Speaker D: Judith is going to step forward to shake your hand and say. [00:45:16] Speaker B: It'S a. [00:45:16] Speaker D: Pleasure to meet you, Gravewing. I'm Judith Strauss. [00:45:24] Speaker A: All right, now I'm going to hold you in place with the hand. A lot going on here, huh? Huh? I'm gonna look. I'm look at. Look at Tristan. Then I'm gonna look at Alistair. I'm look back at Judith. What's your relation? [00:45:50] Speaker D: You're referring to my least favorite cousin. [00:45:54] Speaker A: Um. Cousin. [00:46:04] Speaker D: That's right. [00:46:07] Speaker A: You're given a lot of this information quite freely. [00:46:11] Speaker C: They do worship the voice. [00:46:15] Speaker D: It's not as if I'd be able to keep it a secret for long. You know my name and where I work. You'd find out sooner or later. [00:46:23] Speaker A: I'm. I'm talking about the disdain part. [00:46:29] Speaker D: Ah. Well, like I said, I do believe we're aligned on that. [00:46:40] Speaker A: Well, shit. Hope you're not too fond of him. He's also on the list of problems for me. [00:46:50] Speaker D: We've had our differences for quite a long time, to put it lightly. [00:46:59] Speaker A: Well, then I believe we can work together. But I think you're smart enough to know that I'm watching you. And unfortunately, I kicked Tristan again. You know this full name, so. I mean, everybody knows his full name now, but still. You get what I mean? [00:47:22] Speaker D: I do. [00:47:25] Speaker A: I'm gonna let you go. But I had. I have a good. I have a good grip. I had. Because I'm letting you go. I'm gonna stop. [00:47:37] Speaker C: If Grave Wing is than assaulting via handshake. I think I missed 90% of the subtext. And I'm Alistair. I. I know my reputation precedes me. I'll Offer a paw. Is it. [00:47:57] Speaker B: Is it a paw? [00:48:00] Speaker C: We'll go with paw. [00:48:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I would think so. That makes sense. [00:48:04] Speaker D: I'll. I'll shake your paw and go. It is an honor to meet you, Alistair. [00:48:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Rats have paws. [00:48:15] Speaker C: Okay, perfect. [00:48:20] Speaker D: Now I suppose we ought to get to work. [00:48:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:48:30] Speaker C: And thus starts the case of the Widow. Or continues the case of the Widow. No, no, I don't think I've actually listed. [00:48:44] Speaker A: Was is one of those open cases but like it's like under that time lock thing where it's like you got to be here. You got to progress to here before this quest fully unlocks. It's like it's in the back of our mind though. Back in. So what do you need from us to get started? [00:49:08] Speaker D: Well, give me a little bit of time to make some preparations and. [00:49:18] Speaker B: Be. [00:49:19] Speaker D: Ready when I call on you to make your move. [00:49:26] Speaker A: Sounds good. [00:49:29] Speaker D: Let me see you out. And I will do what I can. I'll ask some questions and see if I can get a little bit more intel before we go and mount our rescue operation. [00:49:51] Speaker B: So you're let out would be what is the equivalent of early afternoon at this point? And the party will split. I'm gonna stick with you, Judith, for a moment. What are you. How are you getting this information? What are you doing? [00:50:22] Speaker D: So I've got gossip lore which allows me to do a recall knowledge check on any topic and if I fail then I get the effects of dubious knowledge. So I figure a man does not just kidnap a person without someone noticing. So I'm going to do some digging, I'm going to look for some gossip. And I rolled a 27. [00:51:05] Speaker B: 27. So in your digging for gossip, you also learn from other lamplighters from different. Specifically a lamplighter from the. The warden. Apparently one of the other lamplighters has failed to report to it's not mass, but you know, essentially has failed to report for her duties the last week or so and no one really knows what happened. She was a. A very devoted student and about a little over a week ago she just stopped reporting it. [00:52:04] Speaker D: Okay, what was. Is there any more information about her as far as like name or. [00:52:15] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:52:16] Speaker D: What her deal is? [00:52:18] Speaker B: Yeah, her name is Ankrboda. She's a. She's an elf and she's been. She's relatively new with the. The lamplighters. She'd kind of just recently ascended that like first rank and yeah, she apparently went to do a house call in Emerald Reach last week and then that was the last anyone had seen of Her? [00:52:55] Speaker D: Yeah. I think just very casually, I ask, was she, like, the very tall one? [00:53:03] Speaker B: Yes, very tall. Hair like moss. [00:53:06] Speaker D: Yes, yes, I. I saw her. What. What a shame. She's so promising. [00:53:14] Speaker B: She is, unfortunately, with how dangerous the city streets are lately, could have been one of those vigilantes or anything else that got her. Right. [00:53:27] Speaker D: And has anyone checked around or checked her home? [00:53:36] Speaker B: I don't believe anyone has checked her place of residence yet. We all just keep hoping that she'll turn back up. [00:53:47] Speaker D: Oh, the poor thing might be ill. [00:53:48] Speaker B: I should. [00:53:50] Speaker D: I should go looking on her. [00:53:54] Speaker B: And you're given, essentially, is she's been staying at. At. She has a room at the Traveler's Rest in Darklight Bazaar. [00:54:13] Speaker D: And I see Dark Light Bazaar is. [00:54:16] Speaker B: It is across the bridge, essentially. You would leave Twilight Grove, go through clockwork calls, cross the bridge into Dark Light Bazaar. [00:54:27] Speaker D: I think I would make that trip just to, like, confirm, like, just to cover my bases. Like, I think I have enough information to, like, kind of work with, but I want to head over there just to be certain. [00:54:47] Speaker B: Yeah. Give me a. We'll call it diplomacy check as you arrive there to sort of just pick up any kind of information regarding her. [00:55:04] Speaker D: 21. [00:55:05] Speaker B: 21. Yeah. You learn from the innkeeper that Angry Boda paid for the room through the end of the month, and she has still a couple of weeks left, he thought, you know, just got really busy with her work or, you know, maybe had found somebody that she wanted to just spend a little bit more extra time with and hadn't been coming back. But she's paid up through the end of the month. [00:55:39] Speaker D: All right, so she was expecting to be here, but went missing in the Emerald Reach, which is currently the district that's under Bloodline's control. Right. [00:55:55] Speaker B: Yes. [00:55:59] Speaker D: I think what I would like to do and tell me if it works this way, essentially file like, an official inquiry and be like, hey, a lamplighter has gone missing in a district that you're responsible for, and so now you need to help do an investigation and, like, try to find this missing person with me and just kind of, like, sort of flex my. Like, my position to get Bloodline to cooperate, or at least pretend to cooperate. [00:56:45] Speaker B: Yeah. So, yeah, give me a. Let's do a society check for this. Okay. How can. Can you use society and rules and laws to your benefit? [00:57:01] Speaker D: So I rolled in at 20. Of course, that does make the total 33. [00:57:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:13] Speaker A: You. [00:57:13] Speaker B: You pull out some very esoteric old law to sort of strong arm this man into helping you. And reluctantly, he agrees and will take your description and any information you have on Angrboda and will at least say he's looking for her. And we'll ask around in the district and see if anybody has reported anything about her. [00:57:50] Speaker D: All right, I will come see you tonight and we can go over your findings together. [00:57:59] Speaker B: Yeah. And so this is as you get ready to take these uniforms and get in contact with the rest of the group, we'll jump back and figure out what they're up to next time and. And I'll take us out because Aki is not here. Thank you all for listening. And if you enjoy what we do here, check us out on any of our social media linked in. The description below support us on Patreon, get cool stuff, blooper reels, bonus content, and Mimi, if you'd like to tell people where they can find you on the Internet and the cool things you do. And if you want to know more about the things I do, Google me. [00:59:13] Speaker B: And we'll be back next time to figure out what the other half of the group is doing and then go to a. I don't want to call it a midnight rendezvous, but a meeting.
