[00:00:43] Speaker A: Wake me now from this sleep I'm dreaming dark I could not find meaning hold my hand let me stare by your side through this never ending night I can feel it now it holds me demon tower only in this red light it calls me he is reaching out. [00:01:19] Speaker B: Hello, everybody, and welcome back to the character prologues for Tyrant of the Dark Star. I'm Aubrey, your GM, and I'm gonna just turn it over to my player for this week to introduce themselves. Tell us who you are and the name of the character you're playing. We can figure out everything else as we go along. [00:01:42] Speaker C: Hi, I'm tick. I'm the only one here. I use he, she, pronouns, and today I will be playing Nile, and I will not be elaborating on shit yet. [00:01:52] Speaker B: We'll figure it out later. [00:01:53] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:01:56] Speaker B: So it has been almost 100 years since the tyrant appeared and forced Knox light into eternal darkness. We see that same prison from before. Cold iron prison, that same cell. There are three figures in that cell. Someone else is brought in, bag over their head, and shoved in the cell, and then there were four. But let's figure out how this very new person got here, and we will jump back to several days ago. It is peak, peak hours for the traveler's rest in the middle of the dark light bazaar. Dark light bazaar is one of the most just packed districts in the city. It is where everybody comes to blow off some steam to buy their necessities. And the traveler's rest is an inn sort of nestled between all of this. It's a place to lay your head if you need to, or to get a bite to eat. And speaking of a bite to eat, Niall, what are you doing here? [00:03:18] Speaker C: Well, I am working my regular nine to five job as one of the cooks of this decent establishment. Fine would be a bit of a stretch, but I'd say I'm quite a good cook. So I am currently making the meal of the hour. Is it lunchtime? Is it dinner time? [00:03:35] Speaker B: Um, it is. It is lunchtime at this point. [00:03:39] Speaker C: Okay. What's on the menu today? [00:03:42] Speaker B: Uh, you're probably making a stew of some kind. You. You here, you mostly make things that you can make in large batches. Stews, soups, things like that. Hearty meals, especially as it's going into, um, as it's going into on, uh, the autumn season. And the malakad is never a warm city, but this is the time of year where it just gets colder and rainier. So people appreciate some soup and some bread. Anything fancier than that is not something you're gonna get at the traveler's rest. [00:04:25] Speaker C: Some good soup with whatever seasonings that we can afford. Bring out the natural flavors of whatever vegetables that we have because a lot of them are quite hard to come by, but a lot of them have excellent flavors together. The bread, make it as nice and soft as possible with the ingredients we have. Probably not going to make it too soft, but at least dippable in the soup. A nice big batch to definitely work on. [00:04:48] Speaker B: Yeah. And as you're working, you see conviction, the tiefling elf. Tiefling. Who is your boss? They have this sort of, like, blue skin and sort of messy green hair. As they. They come in from the bar area, they're carrying a couple of just dirty plates where they sit down near the wash bucket and, you know, they. They look over at you and smile and they just say, you're doing great. Just keep it up. We're. We're almost done with peak, and. And, you know, before they grab a couple more plates full of food and head on out there and just. Just to see how things have gone, give me a crafting role. [00:05:37] Speaker C: Oh, don't make me roll over. You know how this is gonna go. My life choices, it's not going to. [00:05:49] Speaker B: Be an incredibly high DC. You're not making anything complex. [00:05:56] Speaker C: I'm gonna take my nuna's advice. She told me if I kiss the dice, it'll be okay. [00:06:00] Speaker B: No, take the advice. [00:06:03] Speaker C: Jesus Christ. She was right. That's a 24. [00:06:08] Speaker B: 24. Yeah, you're. This is. This may be some of your, like, your best work this week. You know, you had a chance to get good, fresh ingredients, which really helps. And you're even able to, you know, make a bit of a bone broth for this. [00:06:27] Speaker C: Ooh, yeah. Excellent ingredients. Make an excellent soup. [00:06:31] Speaker B: Yeah. And as you're working, do you. [00:06:39] Speaker C: Tell. [00:06:39] Speaker B: Us a little bit about Niall. Who do we see laboring over the stove? [00:06:44] Speaker C: So you see a surprisingly tall, tall human question mark. Like, they look pretty humanoid. Their hair seems to have lost all of its color from something. And they have blackened nails. Uh, they seem to have bandages on, like, one side of their face, around their neck, kind of all over their body in different spots, sporadically. They look pretty tired. And he, honestly is just focusing very hard on the soup. There might be other people in the kitchen, but they are not a priority. The priority is the soup. Soup. People. People second soup first. Actually, people third bred second soup first. That's a hierarchy of needs for this area. But pretty tall, kind of lanky, and it definitely looks like, they look like they're simultaneously malnourished and doing their best at the same time. Like the energy of a nine to five Starbucks worker that has not had a good day. Sorry. I reflect. [00:07:36] Speaker B: How dare you. [00:07:38] Speaker C: Sorry. Yeah, they look a little spindly, but they look humid enough. You know, human adjacent. [00:07:46] Speaker B: Uh huh. Yeah, you do see this? You see? You see conviction come back, bring more dishes, take more soup, and the rest of the peak continues without too much of a problem. You leave what remains of the soup to simmer and stay warm for. Some people come in for, like, a. Like a dinner meal, but not as often. It's usually just locals at that point. Anybody else is heading home, and at one point, conviction will pop his head in and just say, hey, can I get you to watch the bar for a minute? I I gotta go run and change sheets in a couple other rooms. [00:08:45] Speaker C: They get a very stern thumbs up, and I will start tending to the bar. The soup's good. I'll give it a wipe down because Paula needs one. [00:08:52] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, of course. And at this point, there are only a small handful of people. There is a. A guy with a cowboy hat at the one end of the bar. There are a couple other people just sort of milling about, and, you know, at one point, said guy with a cowboy hat kind of. Just sort of, like, gets your attention for a drink refill. [00:09:22] Speaker C: What will it be? [00:09:23] Speaker B: Just top her up. It's just whiskey. [00:09:27] Speaker C: They'll nod, and they'll give you a nice topper up of the drink and just kind of slide it over and just look at them and just be like, nice hat. [00:09:36] Speaker B: Thanks. I want it in the game of cards. [00:09:40] Speaker C: Oh, you play? [00:09:43] Speaker B: I've been known to dabble, you know, here and there. You know, to travel around, collect stories, whatever. I feel like that was a nice thing to add to my collection. [00:09:59] Speaker C: You should talk to the boss. He really likes stories. [00:10:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I was having a nice conversation with the tiefling. Definitely seemed to enjoy his stories. You know, kind of worked out a bit of deal. You know why I keep telling him stories? He keeps my glass full. Uh, it's worked out pretty well so far. [00:10:22] Speaker C: Mmm. I see. I see. Well, enjoy your drink, Emily. It was a little awkwardly, like. Yeah, you're. You're talking to me too much. I'm sorry. I'm gonna go back to cleaning. [00:10:34] Speaker B: Yeah. And I have been required by Aki to tell you more about what whiskey Jack looks like. He very much looks like if you put to Pedro Pascal from the last of us in a cowboy hat, conviction. We'll be working on the rooms for probably about 2030 minutes. You serve a couple other people who come in. They all seem to be regulars from around there. At some point during those 30 minutes, whiskey gets up, leaves a couple of coins on the counter as a tip to farm in, and then leaves out into the hustle and bustle of the afternoon. [00:11:30] Speaker C: I did do the barman stuff briefly, but I'm not gonna take that guy's tip. That's just mean. Where is the barman? [00:11:37] Speaker B: Incubation comes back after about 30 minutes. They're current, like, they run the bar usually during the day because it lets them collect the best stories. [00:11:46] Speaker C: True. Wait, I have a quick question. Is it any of the regulars birthdays? [00:11:52] Speaker B: None that you remember. [00:11:54] Speaker C: Okay. [00:11:55] Speaker B: Yeah, no one seems so. You know, if it is, they don't say anything about it. And one thing you know about the traveler's rest is that conviction is they do business. But also, if you're desperately in need of a hot meal and a place to stay, all that conviction asks from you is a story. It's sometimes kind of a wonder that this place can stay open. [00:12:33] Speaker C: He pays me a living wage. Right? [00:12:35] Speaker B: He does. [00:12:36] Speaker C: Good. [00:12:38] Speaker B: He seems to have quite a bit of money. And you're not sure how. [00:12:42] Speaker C: I'm not gonna ask. That's not my business. I'm looking away. [00:12:48] Speaker B: Just. I don't see anything. [00:12:52] Speaker C: Yeah, when he gets back, I'll just slide the bronze coins over to him when I'm done serving some people. Yeah. [00:12:57] Speaker B: And they're actually silver coins. [00:12:59] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. The weird guy in the cowboy hat left these for you. [00:13:03] Speaker B: Oh, yes. I wish he had stayed. Yes. Man has so many interesting stories. I certainly hope that we will see him again. And they just said, yeah, you can go back, continue working if you have time. There's. There's a couple of things you can do back there if you want to prep anything for tomorrow or. You know, I think that there are a couple of. Well, probably. Yeah, the. There's a performance by Circus Sunset tonight, so we might want to prepare the casks, you know, so the person who comes in after you, we'll be able to, uh. They don't have to worry about that once we get flooded with people after the show is done. [00:13:58] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. I'll do some cleaning. I'll get the soup on the side in case anyone comes in hungry. I'll get the casks ready and just do a little sweep down before I go. Sound like a plan? [00:14:10] Speaker B: Sounds great to me. Uh, as always, you're fantastic. And I'm lucky to have you. [00:14:17] Speaker C: I'm lucky to have you as a boy, boss. Thank you. And I'm going to go back into my kitchen alone, which is the perfect space to be. And I'm going to do all the cleaning and all the stuff. [00:14:28] Speaker B: Yeah. And as you're working and doing this, you just kind of hear this voice in the back of your head going, I'm hungry. [00:14:43] Speaker C: And I am going to think back. Can you wait like 2 hours? [00:14:49] Speaker B: I guess, but. [00:14:54] Speaker A: Mmm. [00:14:57] Speaker B: There's so many good people here today. Can we just, can we not have just another gangly mugger? So grizzly. [00:15:13] Speaker C: I'll see what I can do tonight. We do kind of have to keep this job, though. And if you eat the clientele, we are going to lose that job. [00:15:22] Speaker B: Won't eat that many of the clientele. [00:15:25] Speaker C: I think if the boss catches us eating the clientele in any form, we are going to lose our job. [00:15:33] Speaker B: I won't tell him if you don't tell him. [00:15:37] Speaker C: Well, you know, there are a couple of them that are kind of jerks. I'll consider it. Let me finish cleaning first. [00:15:48] Speaker B: You know, there won't be any evidence left. [00:15:52] Speaker C: I know. I fear the day we get caught. But, you know, when it's late, we'll find someone who has got more meat on their bones that is morally questionable for you, and we'll do that then. Why don't you have some nice vegetable soup? [00:16:09] Speaker B: You just, you just. If this voice could just give you a deadpan look into the camera, like the office, it would be. [00:16:18] Speaker C: Oh, like you're doing right now into the camera. [00:16:20] Speaker B: Yes. [00:16:24] Speaker C: It's got meat broth. [00:16:27] Speaker B: No, actual meat. [00:16:33] Speaker C: We'll dig around for something tonight, dear. [00:16:38] Speaker B: I'm holding you to that. [00:16:41] Speaker C: You always do. I know. I'm going to keep cleaning while trying to keep my head level about being like, I guess we're gonna. Guess we're gonna. He's gonna kill. [00:16:56] Speaker B: It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. [00:16:59] Speaker C: Oh, it's not fine and you know it. One of these days I'm gonna get arrested or something. [00:17:08] Speaker B: No, no, don't. I. Don't worry about it. Eventually, you get to the end of your shift and you kind of just stay in the back of the house, you know, don't. Don't interact with anybody. And when you get ready to leave, as is, you know, tradition, at the end of the day, you're handed a small sack of coins and conviction gives you a smile and said, since it was just us today, tossed in a little extra. [00:17:44] Speaker C: Oh, thank you very much. [00:17:46] Speaker B: Treat yourself something nice. [00:17:50] Speaker C: Thank you. And I'm going to think about all this, like, all. Not the spices, but all the cool food I can buy with this money. Maybe a cookbook. Ooh. Get some more recipes. [00:18:01] Speaker B: Yeah, you certainly could. You have mechanically what is amounts to between silver and copper. About a gold. [00:18:13] Speaker C: Oh, I'll write that down. [00:18:18] Speaker B: From your payment today. Pretty. Pretty good for a day, because usually where you live is kind of the room you rent currently. Probably runs you about a silver a week. [00:18:32] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. That's very good. I can cover rent for, like, months now. That's nice. Not including food and stuff. [00:18:39] Speaker B: That's very true. Uh, you'll probably be good for a little bit, and, uh, you know, have a little extra money. Uh, certainly helps that, uh, people seem to be a little generous today. [00:18:51] Speaker C: Maybe I can even get a bed frame. [00:18:53] Speaker B: No, let's not go that far. [00:18:56] Speaker C: You're right. I'm being a bit too ambitious with that. [00:18:58] Speaker B: Just a little too ambitious. Bed frame, that's expensive. [00:19:05] Speaker C: Yeah. I'll keep putting money away for the bed frame. Maybe I'll be able to get a simple one one day, you know? Bit, uh, feisty of me to think that far. [00:19:15] Speaker B: Well, it's just all the guys I dated in college with a bed on the floor. [00:19:20] Speaker C: It's not my fault I can't afford it. But I will take my money, and I will definitely leave. [00:19:32] Speaker B: Yeah. You head out into the dark, light bazaar. Off in the distance, you hear the sound of the circus, the sort of cacophony of yelling and music and people heading towards that. You hear this gnome who you're relatively sure is the ringleader. Uh, just say circus sunset, an experience we'll never forget. Just a copper. [00:20:07] Speaker C: Oh, that's too many people for me. I'm out. It seems cool, but. Oh, God, that's loud. It's bright. There's people here. Mm hmm. [00:20:17] Speaker A: Well, it's true. [00:20:22] Speaker C: Does the voice, my back of the head. Want to go into the circus? [00:20:25] Speaker B: No, it says, it seems like maybe at this point, you and schism are on the same. On the same page. [00:20:34] Speaker C: Yeah, circus not very good, you know? [00:20:38] Speaker B: Can't eat anyone at the circus. [00:20:40] Speaker C: True. You can't eat people at the circus, usually, so, yeah, I guess it'll be kind of like a trek home and maybe keeping an eye out for trouble, you know? Any. Any muggers in the area, any people that are cringe, you know, like a tax collector or two, you know, give me a. [00:21:04] Speaker B: Let's do a perception check. To sort of keep an eye out as you're walking home. And I guess. I guess the big question is, do you live in the same district that you work or do you live somewhere else? [00:21:21] Speaker C: Can I afford to live in the same district that I work? [00:21:25] Speaker B: It would be more expensive. You probably. You're probably live. You probably live in salvation row across. [00:21:32] Speaker C: The bridge, a bit of a cheaper place. [00:21:35] Speaker B: No, it's on the same side of the bridge. Dark lake. Bizarre. Is on the same side of the bridge as salvation row. So, yeah, you know, you had a district or so over, and salvation row is a pretty good place to find not very good people. Salvation row over by the river, kind of is sandwiched in between two of the bridges. And you don't know. What about the district? It's always darker. There's always incredibly dark alleys. And because of its sort of. It seems to be, like, lower and closer to the water than most of the other districts, especially in the mornings. In the evening, there's quite a bit of fog that rolls in. [00:22:21] Speaker C: Mm hmm. It's perfect for the perfect crime. [00:22:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:22:26] Speaker C: Yeah. I did roll a nine. I'm looking for criminals, tax collectors, or, like, iPad kids. [00:22:41] Speaker B: This just iPad kids. [00:22:44] Speaker C: You know what I'm talking about with that one statement. [00:22:48] Speaker B: Still Cosmo. [00:22:51] Speaker C: Cosmo's a cat. Cosmos, not an iPad kid. [00:22:54] Speaker B: Cosmo is totally an iPad kid. [00:22:58] Speaker C: Cosmo's not here. Cosmos too powerful. [00:23:02] Speaker B: It's fair. You are, you know, heading between these alleys, trying to find someone. And you hear this. You hear. You hear the sound of someone getting punched, you know, this sort of meaty sound of flesh connecting with flesh. And then you hear a gruff voice say, just empty out your pockets and we let you go on your way. [00:23:39] Speaker C: Ooh. I poke my head around the corner. [00:23:41] Speaker B: To see what's going on, and you see this. You're. There is a very gruff looking person with, you know, we'll give this man an eye patch and, you know, he's got the, you know, messy hair and a beard and, you know, it's got a knife. And he just looks. He doesn't look great. Doesn't look great. And he is standing over this other person who we'll say looks better. They look like they have some money at least. And, you know, this, the person, the sort of the taller, meaner looking one says, come on, hurry up. And what do you do? [00:24:33] Speaker C: First, I want to ask the. Excuse him in the back of my head, like, is that meaty enough for you? [00:24:41] Speaker B: Yes. He looks like he works out. [00:24:44] Speaker C: He looks like he eats protein powder. [00:24:47] Speaker B: It looks like he at least eats a meal every day. [00:24:51] Speaker C: He looks like he might even eat two meals every day from robbing people. And I guess I'm gonna keep, like, a solid distance, but I am gonna, like, kind of sort of step out and be like, um, hi, nice to meet you. Can you stop mugging that guy, please? [00:25:12] Speaker B: And the. The big, gruff man turns around and looks at you and just goes, oh, you fucking got a friend? [00:25:21] Speaker C: Looks like, oh, I don't know that guy, actually, at all. [00:25:24] Speaker B: So why are you sticking up for him? [00:25:27] Speaker C: Um, I don't want to answer that question. [00:25:31] Speaker A: Can. [00:25:31] Speaker C: Can you just, like, leave? Are you going to leave, or are we gonna have to, like. [00:25:40] Speaker B: He just goes. He, like, has this dagger, and he kind of, like, plays with the tip a little bit and just goes, well, you know, just deal with your boat, empty your pockets, and maybe it's my lucky night. And starts walking towards you. And we're going. Gonna to roll initiative real quick. [00:26:06] Speaker C: Wait, is it a free action to ask the guy on the floor and just be like, are you a snitch? [00:26:11] Speaker B: He just goes, I don't know what you're talking about. [00:26:16] Speaker C: If I save your life, are you a snitch? [00:26:23] Speaker B: He. [00:26:23] Speaker C: He is. [00:26:24] Speaker B: Like, he's got a. He's been shit rocked a little bit. He's not sure what's going on and. What, like, why. Why are you asking him if he's a snitch? He's not sure. [00:26:35] Speaker C: You're. [00:26:35] Speaker B: You're not being specific enough. [00:26:37] Speaker C: Uh, maybe witnesses. All right, let's roll an issue and. [00:26:41] Speaker B: Skip them in the back of your head. It's just like, I get to eat two people. [00:26:46] Speaker C: We might allow one witness. Okay, that guy's innocent. All right, hold on. My initiative is perception, right? [00:26:57] Speaker B: Yep. [00:26:58] Speaker C: Uh, let's just roll this with a physical dice, because I don't care. CC, that's a natural. I just have to talk to an italian for total of 24. I got more italian. Isn't my dice a roll good? [00:27:17] Speaker B: Uh, apparently, yeah. Um, you. You with their nat, 20 are definitely going first. Uh. [00:27:24] Speaker C: So perfect. So these two people kind of see this person, Niall, just kind of scratch a little bit at the bandage on their face and peel it away a little bit to reveal a large toothed mouth exactly where their eyes should be. And it opens and opens as sort of brittle material starts coming out, and needles shoot at this person aiming directly for the head and the throat. And I'm gonna roll a ranged attack. Roll cc. [00:27:56] Speaker B: Go for it. Sure. [00:28:00] Speaker C: Well, I didn't real good that this is, like, the end of the prologue. Should use a hero point. [00:28:07] Speaker B: That is up to you. You have a hero point to spend. [00:28:09] Speaker C: Do I get to know if I hit before I use a hero point? [00:28:13] Speaker B: What is your role? [00:28:14] Speaker C: I got a total of 13. [00:28:16] Speaker B: The 13 would hit. [00:28:17] Speaker C: Okay, I'm gonna roll the damage from needle third cent. I'm not gonna use a hero point. And that is going to be an amount of damage. Let me roll some d four s. Okay. Okay, that is six points of damage. [00:28:37] Speaker B: Six points of damage. Okay. He is. He would still be standing. [00:28:44] Speaker C: Okay. And through my third action. You're gonna have to help me with this a little bit. I'm gonna cast shield because I want to not get killed by this guy with a knife. [00:28:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:28:54] Speaker C: So, like, this sort of, like, that mouth that opened this sort of, sort of gelatinous y substance kind of starts to appear and form around Niles front, like, as kind of a shield to block oncoming attacks. So this counts as using shield block. And that is my turn. [00:29:11] Speaker B: Yeah, it is like a reaction on your turn to, like, block, and it increases your ac and all of that. So, yeah, it is his turn. And he just looks at you and just goes, what the fuck are you? And, like, rushes towards you with this knife. [00:29:27] Speaker C: Okay, so what does shield block be do, per se? [00:29:34] Speaker B: Well, I think you're fine because he only rolled a ten. [00:29:38] Speaker C: That doesn't hit me. Thank God. [00:29:39] Speaker B: Yeah. And is expecting his first action to run up to you, second action to try and stab at you. And then third action just is going to try and do it again. [00:29:49] Speaker C: Mm hmm. [00:29:51] Speaker B: Cause, holy fuck. What is going on? [00:29:55] Speaker C: He's not having a good day. [00:29:58] Speaker B: Oh. But this time he is. He's really sure of it. He rolls a natural 20. [00:30:04] Speaker C: Jesus. 23. [00:30:08] Speaker B: So I'm not gonna roll a crit card for this, but as you say, to do your shield block, that is a reaction, and I believe that you will reduce the damage by the amount of the, like, the hardness of the shield. [00:30:31] Speaker C: Okay, so it is hardness. Five. [00:30:33] Speaker B: So you will reduce damage by five. Okay, so he rolled 14. So you're only going to take nine damage. [00:30:41] Speaker C: That's still a lot of my health. I don't have a lot of that. [00:30:43] Speaker B: That's true. But, yeah, that is his turn. You watch as the possibly noble person starts screaming and gets up and runs away. [00:30:57] Speaker C: Okay. I do not like the fact that this guy has stabbed me. And so I am going to. Shit. Hold on, let me actually try something. Let me check this spell really quickly. I have not done a lot of spells, so I'm actually going to use three actions because this guy has started running. How far away is he? [00:31:23] Speaker B: Uh, he's only like, he is within 30ft. [00:31:32] Speaker C: Okay, no witnesses. Three action. Concordant choir. Um, so you're both gonna have to make me four to two saves. Both of these people? [00:31:47] Speaker B: Yup. So the thief in front of you rolls another natural 20 for a 25. [00:31:54] Speaker C: At least it's half damage. [00:31:55] Speaker B: Still, that's a crit success. So he takes no damage. No, but on the other hand, the noble roll, the natural one. [00:32:09] Speaker C: God. So let me see what happens on. Does anything happen on a crit fail? No, it doesn't say it says anything specifically. [00:32:15] Speaker B: You double the damage. [00:32:18] Speaker C: Yeah, it doesn't do a lot of damage, but. Okay. Why is this? Fucking thieves anyway. That's twelve points of damage. [00:32:26] Speaker B: Yeah, you. You watch as the nobles head explodes. [00:32:32] Speaker C: Yeah. Just these tendrils kind of start coming out of different areas underneath them bandage and start to sing them like a high, you know, like dog whistle sounds that will blow your brains out. It's dog whistle sounds that blow your brains out. And like, that guy blows up and it's. Okay, that's one. Okay. And I'll just say out loud, like, okay, you get two today. Just so frustrating. [00:32:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Reactions. Um, and, uh, so this, this rebel has seen you just do this. There's tentacles everywhere and he's going to shoot free action. He's going to drop the knife and he's just going to be like, I don't fucking want to die here today. And he's just going to spend all of his three actions running away. So he gets 60ft. [00:33:22] Speaker C: Okay, let me check something really quickly. [00:33:26] Speaker B: You don't have attack of opportunity if you're wondering. [00:33:29] Speaker C: No, but I have needle darts, which is a range of 60ft and I feel like considering that, like I am sharing a body with schism. Who really wants two bodies? I feel like this is probably a schism action to needle dirt this guy from the behind. [00:33:42] Speaker B: Yeah, no, I mean, he is within 60ft. So yeah, he's only now just being. [00:33:49] Speaker C: Like, we can let one person go and then you go just shoot out of their eyes and just like get up. So let me make a ranged attack. Yes. I'm not used to hero point yet, which is very spicy of me. I don't need to. That's like a 21. [00:34:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that's. That's a hit. [00:34:11] Speaker C: Perfect. And needle dust is two actions. It is three d, four. So I'm just gonna reroll this. That's eight points of damage. [00:34:19] Speaker B: Yeah. As you do that, he. You hit him in the back with all of these needle darts and he collapses on the ground unconscious and probably bleeding out very quickly. [00:34:35] Speaker C: Okay, let's move these bodies quick. There was a lot of noise, and. [00:34:39] Speaker B: You can also hear off in the distance, like, people already being like, what was that? And then you hear a voice. Someone, like, someone says, go get the guards. [00:34:53] Speaker C: I'm gonna think in the back of my head, like, I think we should run. [00:34:55] Speaker B: Like, right now, me schism is like, there's food right there and I'm so hungry. [00:35:01] Speaker C: We're about to become food in 3 seconds. And I'm like, I'm leaving. [00:35:04] Speaker B: Okay. It's like a tentacle goes out and, like, grabs a piece of brain and pulls it in. And, you know, you start running. Give me a. Do you. So how would you like to do this? Are you just trying to outrun what is going to happen? Or are you going to try and lose them, like, stealthily? [00:35:31] Speaker C: I want to. I don't think I can outrun them. I want to just not be involved with the, like, shit that's going to happen because I was like, I just killed two people. Kind of a necessity at this .1 of them technically wasn't my fault because I was like, okay, we can let this guy go. It's not, like, needed. And the alien just shot them to death. So I'm just going to try to. [00:35:53] Speaker B: Lose these people, actually give me a society role. [00:35:58] Speaker C: I'm actually kind of good at that society. This is going to be an innocent prologue me after killing two people. Wait, hold on. That's actually not a good role, which is great for you, but I do have a hero point. I want to get the fuck away, so I'm going to use it. [00:36:19] Speaker B: Okay. [00:36:24] Speaker C: Cc moto Mende. CC, that is a 23. [00:36:32] Speaker B: Yeah. So you are running. You think you know where to go. You've been around here long enough, you kind of know some of the back streets. And then you are running through this alley. You're cutting through this alley. You're pretty sure there's a shortcut to get back to your home. And then you run straight on into this large, just brick wall of a man. [00:36:59] Speaker C: I'm going to take a couple steps back and be like I. [00:37:03] Speaker B: And you look up, you see this, this human half orc with this gray skin and bloodlust in his eyes, and he looks at you and just goes, where are you going? [00:37:26] Speaker C: That way. And I'm gonna. I'm gonna start backing away. [00:37:29] Speaker B: And you notice on the. On, like, his lapel is the pin of the holy blood. And in one of his hands is this sort of very grisly looking axe. [00:37:51] Speaker C: Oh, are you going to kill me now? [00:37:54] Speaker B: Oh, no, you're more interesting to us alive. [00:38:00] Speaker C: I still don't like that. [00:38:02] Speaker B: And he is going to take a swing. [00:38:05] Speaker C: I don't have a lot of health, so. Yeah, he's on. [00:38:08] Speaker B: Yeah, he is going to roll a 22 to hit. [00:38:13] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't have good ac. It's so weird not having ac like a brick wall. I'm like, oh, I'm squishy. [00:38:21] Speaker B: And you're going to take eleven bludgeoning damage as he hits you with this. But the butt of his weapon. [00:38:32] Speaker C: Oh, my God. I'm still standing, Aubrey, are you. Yeah, I have six hp left. [00:38:38] Speaker B: Okay. And then he is just gonna do it again. [00:38:44] Speaker C: Yeah, that's fair. [00:38:49] Speaker B: And he rolled the natural 20. [00:38:51] Speaker C: Yeah, no, I'm gone. [00:38:53] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not even gonna roll for damage. You are. It is just one hit track. You're seeing stars. And he just follows up with a second hit. And you hear him say to somebody on the other side of the alley, just being like, just take samples and then dump him in cold iron. [00:39:27] Speaker C: No. And that's how I ended up in jail. [00:39:32] Speaker A: For murder. [00:39:37] Speaker C: Oh, that's not good, Aubrey. [00:39:39] Speaker B: Yeah, you are actual murderer, Niall. [00:39:45] Speaker C: I didn't actually expect to murder people in this prologue, but then, you know, my little boyfriend wanted this little snack. [00:39:54] Speaker B: Skins and boyfriend confirmed. [00:39:57] Speaker C: Yeah. I am losing my mind at the fact that I was like, this is gonna be the most innocent one, and then you hit me with that. Commit cannibalism, like, okay, sure. For you, babe.
