[00:00:00] Speaker A: Sam. Howdy, y'. [00:00:50] Speaker B: All. [00:00:51] Speaker A: Welcome back to Brian in the Charnel House. I'm Aki, your gm. I didn't say that last time, but. But if you couldn't figure it out, go figure. These are my bitches. [00:01:06] Speaker B: Bitches say hi, I betchas. [00:01:12] Speaker C: Hi, I'm Aubrey. I feel like you should know me by now. I am going to be playing Shrike, who uses she, her pronouns and is a human duskwalker champion of iniquity. And I will popcorn to the next person I see on my screen. Sparlock. Hello, I am Sparlock. I use he, him pronouns, and I am playing tic tac, the keeper, Jotun [00:01:40] Speaker B: born, [00:01:43] Speaker C: presumably some sort of ranger and who uses he, him pronouns as well. And we will go off to Alyssa, apparently. [00:02:04] Speaker D: Hello, hello, I'm Alyssa. My pronouns are they, them, and I am playing Cora, who uses any pronouns. And Cora is a beautiful clean sprite and a witch. And I will pass it to Faris. [00:02:21] Speaker A: Hello, I am Barris. [00:02:22] Speaker E: I use she, her pronouns, and I'm playing Compy, who is allegedly Dragonet Magus and probably maybe uses he, him pronouns. Who can say dusty, have you gone? [00:02:37] Speaker F: I have not. Hi, I'm Dusty. I'm here. I use they, them pronouns. I'm playing Joe, gunslinger, maybe spell shot. [00:02:50] Speaker A: They are here. [00:02:53] Speaker F: They have an arm. Well, they have two, but they have an arm in their back. [00:02:58] Speaker B: Hi, everybody. I'm Mandy. Or the Mandy. My pronouns are they, any, and I am playing curio. The catfolk, presumably oracle pronouns they, them. [00:03:16] Speaker A: Before we start, some lines and veils Brine in the Charnel House contains the following. Amnesia, memory loss, rising fascism, body horror and mutilation. Gore, and lots of it. Classism and privilege, gaslighting, some gatekeeping, little bit of girl bossing. So just monsters. Just spooky scaries that grow stronger the more you think and speak of them. Violence. I think I already said that, but I'll say that again. And the trafficking and non sexual exploitation of people and children. If any of that bothers you, feel free to skip this miniseries or come back and listen when your day is better. And yeah, let's start it off. [00:04:21] Speaker E: Hey, we're recapping. So last time we came to a fork in the road and debated about [00:04:29] Speaker B: it for quite a while. [00:04:30] Speaker E: But we came up with some very important information about the slime, which is it for sure is wanting to be consumed and makes itself super desirable in order to do so, but is also residual magic. Weird. What's that about? We went to a little spot that has water probably clean. And we took camp. Probably a good idea. First camp watch with normal Joe. Looked at an arm and found out, oh, this arm is here because of me. I cut this arm off. Good for Joe and Tic Tac. Read a book. Probably a very good book to read. That was definitely a good thing to read about. Looked into more of this tender flesh situation, and that's not going to come back and bite us in any way, shape, or form. I feel really good about this. My cat also feels pretty good about this. [00:05:29] Speaker A: Thank you, cat. Is your cat's voice like the official. Like the. The official additional voice actor for Curio. [00:05:42] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [00:05:43] Speaker E: She's screaming loud enough to. I don't know if it's picking up, but she is screaming very loudly at my feet. [00:05:49] Speaker A: Curio's having nightmares is what we were understanding. [00:05:52] Speaker B: Yep. [00:05:55] Speaker A: Okay, let's start with a little thing. Be it in one's dreams or one's shadows, a premonition of an oracle is a beautiful experience only specific extranemities can experience. The very foundation of divinity. Sparks through one's body, breathing a wealth of knowledge thou must interpret. And though it is painful, it is a must. The universe speaks through you, and it is one's purpose to interpret their voices. Saintess Autalun Mera the first of Sulmera. Watch two, baby. Electric Boogaloo. Not really. Or maybe. Crazy, right? So it is. That's not how I put it. It is Shrike and Compy. Your watch, too. Joe and Tic Tac just went to Betty bed. Let's get some perception rolls. Excuse me. Wowee. Zowies. Okay, go ahead. [00:07:21] Speaker C: Much better for a 31. [00:07:27] Speaker E: I did not do great. I did not do great. I got a 21. [00:07:38] Speaker A: Compy. It's hard out here. It's. It's a lot. You just woke up and second watch sucks. Second watch is objectively the worst watch because it is an interruption in your sleep cycle. So it's just so difficult to really do anything. So you don't hear anything extra or see anything extra. And perhaps you feel a little bit better because Shrike is here. And if Shrike hears or sees anything, like Shrike can tell you. [00:08:15] Speaker F: Right? [00:08:18] Speaker E: One would hope. [00:08:20] Speaker F: Mm. [00:08:21] Speaker A: We'll get back to you. Shrike. Terribly quiet. You can hear the fire. You can hear everybody breathing, sleeping, snoring, Making whatever noises someone makes while they're sleeping. Do you. Are you in your armor or are you unarmored? This is a question for both of you. [00:08:51] Speaker C: Actually, yeah, I am unarmored for now because I was Wearing chain mail. And I most definitely wanted to clean all of the slime off of that. So I'm letting it dry and hoping that it's. I'm not going to have to deal with rust. [00:09:04] Speaker E: I think mechanically you're not able to sleep in full scale mail. But I might be thinking of a different game. [00:09:11] Speaker C: Mechanically you're not. Unless you have a specific feat. [00:09:14] Speaker E: Okay, I didn't think so. I'm like. I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to, so. [00:09:18] Speaker C: Definitely takes 10 minutes to. To take on and put off. So, you know, I don't want to spend 20 minutes of my watch getting in and out of armor. [00:09:25] Speaker E: Yep, yep, yep. [00:09:30] Speaker A: You both have some time. Is there anything you'd like to do? [00:09:35] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, you can go first. [00:09:41] Speaker C: Funny enough, I also have a book among my things that I want to see what's up with. [00:09:46] Speaker E: I was gonna throw a book too. [00:09:49] Speaker A: You both are gonna go booking. We're gonna go book club. [00:09:54] Speaker B: Book club. Book club. [00:09:57] Speaker A: All right, we'll do. [00:09:58] Speaker D: Because. [00:09:58] Speaker A: Because you said it was. [00:09:59] Speaker B: Okay. [00:09:59] Speaker C: Esoteric tome about. [00:10:01] Speaker E: I don't know. I have four of them and they're comforting. [00:10:05] Speaker C: I just have one. [00:10:10] Speaker A: We will, because we said that it's easy for Shrike to go first. That's who we are going to go first with. Shrike. [00:10:20] Speaker B: Yes. [00:10:20] Speaker A: You have a little book. It is plain, it is not very discerning and perhaps intentionally for you see as you read this book, it is a ledger book of what cargo [00:10:43] Speaker E: of [00:10:44] Speaker A: children Would you like a memory? [00:10:49] Speaker C: Sure. [00:10:50] Speaker A: Amazing. Let me look for the correct one, because I'm going to give you a specific one. [00:10:58] Speaker F: Haha. [00:10:59] Speaker A: Here it is. You're a child trafficker and you do it in the name of God. You see specifically in your most recent logs, you have trafficked three children in close proximity. A child from a theorist who is now in Sulmira, A child from the outskirts of Flexoda who has been given to the royal family, and a child from the desert nomads is missing. Now we say desert nomads and you have in quotation marks for them. It's more so like the child was found by desert desert nomads and then you took the child, but you're not sure where that child is. [00:11:59] Speaker F: Great. [00:12:01] Speaker A: How does that make you feel? [00:12:05] Speaker C: I feel like I should feel worse. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Right. [00:12:11] Speaker C: Because what I am doing is not good. [00:12:20] Speaker A: In theory. Right? [00:12:22] Speaker C: In theory, yeah. I mean, if I'm serving a God, do I specify what God? [00:12:29] Speaker A: You don't know yet. But you could look through your things to see if you Find anything? [00:12:34] Speaker C: I did have a strange symbol. So kind of dig that out of my pack and take a look at it and see if it makes anything spring to mind. [00:12:51] Speaker A: Yes, yes. [00:12:52] Speaker B: One second. [00:12:52] Speaker A: I'm messing around with something, so that way I can attack your life points directly. [00:13:02] Speaker C: I've activated the trap card. I understand. [00:13:05] Speaker E: You did. [00:13:09] Speaker A: So you look through and you find it is a holy symbol of sorts, can be used as one. But it is more of discretion in a way. Not necessarily discretion, because this is a bad God. Technically, no. Gods are bad. Good and bad is a mortal creation. But you do have the symbol of the God. [00:13:42] Speaker E: Law [00:13:45] Speaker A: can give you a little bit on. On them. You understand that? [00:13:52] Speaker B: Law. [00:13:52] Speaker A: The meaning of law? The God is a binding custom or practice of a community. He is what you hate, but what you so desperately need. You are some form of follower. Perhaps. But you understand you have another item as well, which I think since you are taking the time to look through the rest of your things, you're going to be able to see this one. You have a crest. This crest is done up. Okay. Money got put into this crest. You have a crest of the Order of Splendor. It is on a medallion. This is your passage into most places. This is your passport. I can give you one more memory if you'd like. [00:14:55] Speaker C: Sure. [00:14:56] Speaker A: I think. I think you've. You deserve a bit of a dump for lack of better words. So this one, This one, I can. I can either give you a specific one or you can roll for me. [00:15:15] Speaker C: Let's roll. [00:15:23] Speaker A: It's a D. 12. Sorry. [00:15:24] Speaker C: Yep. That is 12. [00:15:29] Speaker A: You have a magical tattoo on your back. Less of a memory and more of a statement. [00:15:36] Speaker C: Do I remember what this magical tattoo is? [00:15:39] Speaker A: No. Besides that it was given to you by the Order. You should have a rank. Sorry? You should have a rank. You should have a title. That is how this order works as well. And you do understand that the. You do understand one thing though. That the children that you are trafficking should in fact all be six finger children or extremities. [00:16:18] Speaker C: The trafficking of children with extremities is that of an ancient one. So rare and so few. Those who yearn for power will take it from the vulnerable who have it. In modern day, this trade is abhorred by the common people. But the powerful are still powerful. And it is easy to scare the powerless into submission. Children are of course the most valuable form of currency as a compy. Can you take a look at this? I believe I have a tattoo on my back and I would like to know what it depicts. [00:16:57] Speaker E: Oh certainly. If that is what you desire. [00:17:02] Speaker A: You going to strip? [00:17:04] Speaker C: Yeah, I feel like I don't really have too many qualms about it. [00:17:11] Speaker E: Me neither. [00:17:12] Speaker A: What you got? [00:17:14] Speaker C: What do I have? [00:17:16] Speaker A: So firstly, you understand that you wear some form of. They are like tight bracelets, but they are bracelets. They are like almost. I wouldn't call them cuffs. I really wouldn't. They don't. They're not cuff shape, but they are bracelets made out of like fabric and string. They don't hurt to wear. They don't pull at your skin or the any hairs on your arm or anything like that. And they are purple and black in color. And you wear one on each side side of your hand and your back. The first thing you notice about this tattoo compy is that it is completely symmetrical. Excellent symmetry down to a T. And secondly, would you like to make a check for this? [00:18:22] Speaker E: Sure. Maybe we doing. What kind of check? [00:18:29] Speaker A: If you got any art lores that could come in handy. If not society or religion or arcana, occult. [00:18:38] Speaker E: I got society Arcana, an underworld lore. [00:18:46] Speaker A: I don't think underworld lore will come up for this particular tattoo but whichever is higher for your skills, I would limit the same. So whichever you'd like then Arcana, I guess would determine. Arcana would determine, I guess the type of magic and. And whatnot. And I think you said society. That would be like what the does this mean? And stuff. [00:19:12] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. [00:19:13] Speaker A: And then if you get it high enough on either, I might just give you the answer in general. [00:19:17] Speaker E: Oh, I sure won't. I only got a 19. I ain't rolling good tonight at all. [00:19:28] Speaker A: This sure do look like a tattoo. Beautiful, symmetrical. The tattoo almost looks like it is done by like scarring technique peaks in a sense but because you don't really notice an ink per se. But it is. It fully covers the back and it's perfectly symmetrical. You can't really tell what the fuck it's supposed to be either. But it's kind of nice. [00:19:56] Speaker E: I'm afraid that my artistic knowledge seems to be lacking. Perhaps not something that my former self knew much about. So I couldn't tell you anything about it beyond the fact that it looks nice and asymmetrical and isn't it is inkless. Big. Very big. [00:20:21] Speaker C: I don't know about you, but slowly piecing some things together. [00:20:28] Speaker E: Are you? That's good to know. [00:20:32] Speaker C: Yes. [00:20:34] Speaker E: And how is it going? Feeling good? Liking who you are. [00:20:40] Speaker C: I know what God I followed. [00:20:44] Speaker E: Oh, are you a religious sort? [00:20:48] Speaker C: In a way. I think. [00:20:56] Speaker E: I Seems as my knowledge of I get fails in this instance, I'm not sure whether or not I should offer you congratulations or not. [00:21:06] Speaker C: I mean, kind of look at the bracelets as well and say, I believe I followed law. [00:21:17] Speaker E: Oh, oh, oh. [00:21:21] Speaker A: You can make religion checks, both of you, if you'd like, now that you know his name. [00:21:26] Speaker E: Oh, you roll good on that one. Sure, why not? The skill we're untrained in. Let's just roll a natural 17 about it. It's gonna be a 26. [00:21:40] Speaker A: 26. [00:21:42] Speaker C: It would be a 25. [00:21:45] Speaker A: It doesn't. Law is one of the six gods. God, as in their title, God. So it doesn't. You don't really need much of a DC to beat for something like this. This is like asking you who Jesus is or who Buddha is. Like you. These are names you recognize, right? And so law, the goal, has many domains that fall under his commands. Lost pronouns are he, him specifically, and his domains, which you would all know that follow our cities, duty, might, family, and the most important, community. Law is somebody. Law is beautiful is the best way to put it. Chiseled, perfectly symmetrical. Symmetry is very important to the followers of law, to the worshippers of law. So are bearing your arms and showing them off all the time. Actually, there's a great debate that I will give you both. You both are aware of the great debate between followers of law, and I'm talking like clerics, like levels of followers of laws. There is a debate about how you're supposed to wear your shirts. It's specifically if it's sleeved or sleeveless. Because some see that wearing tight sleeves is the best way to indicate that you are a follower of law, because it shows everything off in its form fitting as well, versus sleeveless, where it's like, bro, none of our statues have sleeves. It is a whole thing. And that is one of the first things you guys remember in which I [00:23:44] Speaker C: think I'm on the sleeveless side. [00:23:47] Speaker E: I was gonna say, I look at Shrikes immediately. [00:23:50] Speaker A: Yeah, Shrike. Are you sleeveless or sleeved? [00:23:53] Speaker C: Sleeveless. [00:23:54] Speaker A: Good to know. Now we know how your armor is. Because your armor, your armor is the exact same way you are sleeveless. And you are proud of that. Gosh darn it. You would also understand that the depiction of Law, besides being a man, is that he is a man with coal colored skin, graying hair, very piercing eyes, and his hands are always clasped together and adorned with bracelets and bangles. And he is. You would now the edicts and anathema, if you wish for me to say it, I can. But otherwise, your symbol, now that you are looking at it properly and you guys can kind of like put two and two together, because this is a much more subtle one, is that the symbol is of scales and hammer kind of intertwined. Like if the hammer could also be. The scale is kind of what you're looking at in this symbol. He's got other holy symbols as well, as do the rest of the gods, but he is. He's not a chill God by any means, but he's the one that makes sense in. In a. In a way. [00:25:20] Speaker E: Wrong choice. [00:25:27] Speaker C: Have you learned any more about yourself? [00:25:33] Speaker E: No, not in particular. [00:25:36] Speaker A: Would you like to? I would love to. You said you wanted to look at your book and I think you were looking at your book while Shrike was. [00:25:47] Speaker B: So [00:25:50] Speaker A: let's. You can do society or you can do perception. [00:25:58] Speaker E: So do a perception. Hey, that's not bad at all. That's going to give me a 29. [00:26:06] Speaker A: Amazing. So you see your four books here. Your four books are a series of books, actually. And with the light source of your choice, you can read out that. The series is called the Adventures of Kitty Dragoon. And each book is a new adventure for the main character, Kitty Dragoon. Would you like to start with book one or any of the other books you have? Book ones to four? [00:26:45] Speaker E: Yeah, I'll start with the first one. [00:26:48] Speaker A: Here's your little blurb that you can read. Kitty Dragoon is going through a lot. She's an orphan cat folk raised by. Raised by awakened cats. She's a poor commoner living under a fascist regiment and she's 13 with a crush on the neighbor. But the city's lordship is out for blood Rounding up the poor to gentrify their homes. Can Kitty stand between the streets and the gallows or will she be next to hang? Blurb of the Adventures of Kitty Dragoon. Book one, the Thief in the Dark. [00:27:24] Speaker E: Very high stakes middle grade novel. [00:27:30] Speaker A: Extremely. Other things I can give you just based off of like varying this stuff, like if you were to like skim through it a little bit, is that this is 100% aimed at the like preteen level. This of, of reading. And if you were to read a little bit, you find yourself almost like remembering the words like, you know, what's going to come next up in this chapter. You know that the, the. The evil Lordship's name is oh, where is Lord Malham? That's his name. And you're like, I hate that dude. That dude sucks. I'll give you A memory too. [00:28:25] Speaker E: Oh, okay. [00:28:26] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:28:27] Speaker A: Because this book does bring you spark some memories. I'm very proud of you, song. [00:28:37] Speaker F: Let's go. [00:28:39] Speaker B: You understand how much TV show adaptation. [00:28:44] Speaker E: She's a Saturday morning cartoon. Let's go. [00:28:47] Speaker A: Another thing I'm gonna give you. [00:28:51] Speaker E: Good. [00:28:51] Speaker A: Another thing that I'm gonna give you though with Kitty Dragoon is that you distinctively remember that Kitty Dragoon was supposed to be just a trilogy, but is back by popular demand with the fourth book for an additional spin off trilogy still following the tit. The titular character, Kitty Dragon. Here you go. This is your memory. The adventures of Kitty Dragoon. You remember? It is. You know what? Let me actually give you a better me painting here. You see yourself with this book, this book that is actually bigger than you, but when you like point it out of your sleeves, it goes like imperfectly and becomes like super manageable. And you remember by a candlelight in a hammock with a lot of blankets. Reading this book with Chantao and you are both learning the common language as you are reading this book. The Adventures of Kitty Dragoon is the novel series that taught you common and it is your favorite book series. So you have all of them right now. At least all that is out that you know is out. You have a lot of memories with Chun Tao. [00:30:36] Speaker D: That's. [00:30:37] Speaker E: That's excellent, excellent news. [00:30:40] Speaker A: But like, how do you feel? Because she's not here and you don't know where she is or how you got here. Is she down here? [00:30:49] Speaker E: I think Compy runs a claw across the words on the Wayfinder and feels. Like this is not the first time they have been apart. Possibly this isn't even the most dire situation. Compy has found himself in away from her. And she had faith in him that he would always come home or she wouldn't have given him the Wayfinder. And through Chantao, all things are possible. So write that down. [00:31:39] Speaker A: Exactly. Would you like to try and make a check to remember more about Chun Tao specifically not yourself, just her? [00:31:51] Speaker D: Yes. [00:31:55] Speaker A: So recall knowledge. I will. I think your underworld lore would make the most sense here. [00:32:00] Speaker E: Yay. Pirates. Oh, that's mid. It's a mid roll. It's. I'll take it though. It's. It. It could be worse. 25. [00:32:17] Speaker A: Okay, so you're going. So what? So you can always attempt later on as you remember more things to perhaps remember more personal things, more specific things about her. Right now, her face and her features are really hard to remember. And they. You. It's like when you try to focus on that Something is shaking you and, like, just blurring it further, it almost kind of gives you a headache trying to remember what she looks like. But you do remember, essentially, this blurb I'm about to read. The origins of the most infamous pirate lord are but one of many great mysteries. But what we do know is that Chun Town was. Excuse me. But what we do know is that Chantao was born from nothing and is the daughter of no one special. The Grand Unifier of the Sailed Seas. Her cutthroat regime is the only thing keeping order alive. That's what you remember. [00:33:36] Speaker E: I think Compy feels a surge of, like, pride and love. As that comes back to mind. It's like, ah, yes, of course, she is but an icon, [00:33:53] Speaker A: Really. Truly. It's the. [00:33:55] Speaker E: The. [00:33:55] Speaker A: The prestige. Perhaps you do, because you do remember. A memory you got a few episodes ago was that you were her first mate. [00:34:03] Speaker F: Just saying. [00:34:04] Speaker B: Just saying. [00:34:05] Speaker E: Yeah. That must mean to be trusted by [00:34:09] Speaker D: Chun Tao is the greatest honor of all. [00:34:13] Speaker A: Exactly. And you must be here for some reason, right? [00:34:19] Speaker E: Perhaps even on a mission that she sent me to do. [00:34:23] Speaker A: Perhaps. [00:34:24] Speaker E: Maybe I'm here for her. [00:34:27] Speaker A: And I think while sh. You have bad memories and. And Comy. You have good memories, and you both remember that good and bad are mortal creations and completely subjective. We'll go to watch three. Curio and Korra, you're on. Your watch. Perception rolls, please. [00:34:59] Speaker B: 26. [00:35:03] Speaker A: Both of you. It's eerie. Silent. Fire cracks every now and then. Well, actually, no, it doesn't. Right. Because it's dry wood that makes the cracking noise, I think. And not Wetterwood. I think Wetterwood does something else. I don't know. Okay. I don't go camping. I've never been. You hear the fire, you hear nothing else except for maybe people sleeping. Is there anything in particular you two would like to do? Because I have stuff I want to do to you, and I'd like to give you a chance to have a choice for a little bit. [00:35:49] Speaker B: I would like to investigate the mystery bags in my pack. I just want to know what's what. What I have, what all I have, since I only saw some. [00:36:06] Speaker A: You said you're looking through your bag, correct? To sort out the rest of your shit? [00:36:10] Speaker B: Yes. From what I recall in my notes, there were two small bags within my backpack, and I did not have time to go through those. So I would like to open one of them first and see what's in there. [00:36:26] Speaker A: So in one bag, you have roughly 25 gold pieces. [00:36:32] Speaker B: Nice. [00:36:34] Speaker A: You got quite a bit of money there. And in the other bag you have several caltrops. Oh, yeah. Nothing magical of sorts. It's more like you have things. You have things. [00:36:56] Speaker B: Okay, I have cow. [00:36:58] Speaker E: So. [00:36:58] Speaker A: Yes. You also have a mysterious potion and a mysterious ring. Both are magical. [00:37:07] Speaker B: In addition to the ones you told me about already. [00:37:10] Speaker A: No, no, no. Those are the ones. Like, I'm restating what you have. Okay, I'm going to give you one more thing in addition though. [00:37:18] Speaker E: Okay. [00:37:19] Speaker A: You have a note. [00:37:21] Speaker B: Oh, what does the note say? [00:37:27] Speaker A: You have determined, like, you don't need to roll, but for this. But you have determined that this note was written. It says, I found the mark headed for Langa. And I stated before things that you. You remember the one of the guards was from the. The things that you fought last time was wearing the colors of the summer court, which is like Longa. [00:38:06] Speaker B: Okay. So based on my knowledge, it feels reasonable to assume that we are in Mithram. [00:38:16] Speaker A: Yes. [00:38:18] Speaker B: And possibly near Langa. [00:38:22] Speaker A: Yes. [00:38:23] Speaker E: Okay. [00:38:28] Speaker B: Does the handwriting. Is the handwriting mine? Do I know if it is mine or someone else's? [00:38:41] Speaker A: I think, I think you can. You would know that it is yours. And if you needed to like double check, you could like try like with your nail, like trying to write something like in the ground or something like that. And you. You'd find that it matches relatively easy. Of course, it'd be better if you had like some sort of pen and paper. But yeah. You feel strongly about this note. Okay. So I think you know it's. You can. With that enough, you can kind of deduce that it is your handwriting. [00:39:14] Speaker B: Okay. So 25 gold caltrops. The things we discussed before, the ring, the coin, and I have this note. What's in the other little bag? Cuz these are one bag. [00:39:34] Speaker A: Yeah, one bag was caltrops. The other bag was 25 gold. So those are both your bags. [00:39:39] Speaker B: Okay. [00:39:40] Speaker A: Yes. Would you like to attempt to figure out what the ring is or the potion is? [00:39:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I would. I would like to examine these things, which. First I'd like to look at the ring. [00:39:59] Speaker A: Okay. You can do like an arcana check on it. You already know that it's magical. [00:40:07] Speaker B: Okay. Arcana. [00:40:12] Speaker A: Oh, actually you had detect magic before, right? Does detect magic tell you what school of magic I it is? [00:40:19] Speaker B: Let me double check, making sure I'm not thinking of a different game that we're not playing. You receive no information beyond the presence or absence of magic. [00:40:37] Speaker A: Oh, oh, you detect illusion magic. Okay. [00:40:39] Speaker B: Yes. [00:40:39] Speaker A: Your ring is illusion magic. [00:40:42] Speaker B: Okay. [00:40:43] Speaker A: Illusion. So that much you already know. And if you Want to know exactly what your ring like is? You could, like, make a check. [00:40:55] Speaker B: Okay, so for the arcana check, because I did already roll that. What did I get on the dice? I can't see. I'm blind. 26 total, [00:41:08] Speaker A: easy. You look at this ring, you know how to activate it. You know how it works. This is the ring of discretion. It is a ring that magically conceals any armor and sheath weapons you're wearing by either turning them invisible or creating an illusion of ordinary clothes. [00:41:32] Speaker B: Do I currently appear to be weaponless beyond what I know? [00:41:37] Speaker A: Yes. [00:41:39] Speaker B: Excellent. [00:41:41] Speaker A: The most that you've done is your magic. And then you, like, pulled a shield out and was, like, drinking water. No. Bathing water. Like that was. That's what you did. [00:41:56] Speaker B: Okay. [00:41:58] Speaker A: That's. That is your item for you. [00:42:02] Speaker B: Is it a separate roll for the potion? [00:42:06] Speaker A: Yes. [00:42:06] Speaker B: Okay. [00:42:07] Speaker A: Because, like, you don't want to. You don't want to drink the potion to figure it out, right? So. [00:42:11] Speaker B: No, because I don't know what it is. Oh, that's super good. Oh, sorry, I forgot to mute for the dice roll. [00:42:21] Speaker A: It's okay. I didn't even hear it. [00:42:23] Speaker B: Oh, excellent. Wait, 18. Oh, God, that's high, isn't it? Yeah. 31. [00:42:42] Speaker A: Good job. You have a moderate healing potion. [00:42:46] Speaker B: Moderate. [00:42:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Here you go. [00:42:53] Speaker B: Okay. Well, I feel satisfied. I will carefully tuck my possessions back into the bag. [00:43:02] Speaker A: Mm. And as you do, you are going [00:43:08] Speaker E: to be [00:43:11] Speaker A: overwhelmed, and we're gonna come back to you. [00:43:15] Speaker B: Oh. [00:43:16] Speaker A: Cora, are you ready? [00:43:19] Speaker D: It's me. Yes, I am ready. I would like to examine the staff and the shawl that I found in my things. [00:43:29] Speaker A: Yes, of course. So I'm gonna let you know right now, your staff is just a staff. It's with automatic bonus progression. It gets those things. So it's a little bit more than the staff, but it is. It has actually got a bit of a design to it. Like you spent more time making something or having something made for you, perhaps. Or maybe somebody made the this for you as your normal, like, details are like feathers and birds and sprite. And sprite horse. This one looks like moving water flowing all the way up. And then there's something else on top. Top that you would have to make a check for. Like, the staff head is carved in such a way that you might. It's like, in this light, it's a little bit hard to tell, so you'd need to focus on it. [00:44:45] Speaker D: I would love to make that check. Is that just a perception or is it some sort of magical. [00:44:52] Speaker A: If you got crafting that could also work. Perception. I'll also take nature. [00:45:00] Speaker D: Let's take a look. See here? My crafting and perception are the same for a 26. [00:45:12] Speaker A: It is most likely a moon jellyfish or a lunar jellyfish. [00:45:18] Speaker F: Oh, [00:45:21] Speaker A: and the way it wraps with the water is like it is traveling upwards. This is also like. This is just like the craftsmanship of it is what makes it beautiful. It itself is not necessarily magic, though you're pretty sure you can channel magic through it. You know, like, it serves as a staff. It will bonk. It will walk, help you walk, and it will help magic. Help. Boom. You know? But it's got some meaning to it. And the shawl, you can make an arcana check if you wish. [00:46:01] Speaker D: I do wish. 29 arcana. [00:46:09] Speaker A: This is the Shaw of seasons. It changes color and has different things based off of the color. It only works for for about 10 minutes. And it also gives you, like, a plus two item bonus to diplomacy to make an impression. So you have that fun one. [00:46:35] Speaker D: Nice. Yeah. [00:46:42] Speaker A: It is you sized, by the way. It is u sized. You cannot give this to. To anyone, but to everybody else. This thing is the equivalent of cutting off ribbon and not even a long piece. Okay. It is distinctively you sized. [00:47:05] Speaker D: Yeah. I think that now that he has cleaned off fully, not just presiditated, Korra will wrap themselves up in the shawl, [00:47:18] Speaker A: and you two are about to feel overwhelmed. So we're gonna move back to. To curio. Curio. Yeah. I hope you enjoyed your break. One second. I'm just making sure I have all of your shit here. Amazing. Curio. There is a sensation, something that you feel like it's familiar, but before you can ground yourself, it's like all at once. All the hairs on your body stand up. Your back is particularly tense, and so so are your shoulders. For a lack of better words. This is just a overstimulating time. And then comes the magic. And you have two options. Three. There's always three, but two that make sense right now. You can accept what is about to happen to you, or you can deny it. [00:48:36] Speaker B: I guess my question is, aside from feeling tense and that there is magic, does it feel familiar? [00:48:45] Speaker A: It does. But you cannot. You will not have time to attempt to figure out what is this familiar thing. This thing is happening. It is happening now. Like, that kind of vibe. [00:48:57] Speaker B: I will give in. [00:49:01] Speaker A: Okay. Roll a D100. [00:49:06] Speaker B: You got it. That is a 75. [00:49:13] Speaker E: Cool. [00:49:14] Speaker A: And I'm also going to give you a memory for fun. That you have always had dreams of a wandering Fire. And in this moment, you understand. And perhaps you have understood in prior moments as well. That doesn't matter. What matters is the present. And the present is telling you that you are the fire and you have always been the. The fire. And the fire is you, and you are the flame, and you have been nothing else. Perhaps you're a cat now, but you are a fire in cat's form. You see, in your visions, you see how many people. You see four people in this cave system. You know it's the cave system because you're literally surrounded by this cave. You hear it. You see them walk. You see water because the water doesn't ever react well to your fire. And there's steam, and steam happens when fire touches water. But you see your fire, Your fire never burns out. In water, you're a bit more than that. You see four individuals in this cave system. You push past it. You push farther, farther beyond, past them, past this. Outside, the sun, it's orange and it's bright and it's hot. And the desert, if you weren't sure before, you are now. And the desert is home. And it's. It is fire, just like you. But it is also sand and dust and star and sun, and so are you. You are all those things. You are just one speck of sand. You are one grain in the stars, and you are one with the fire. One small spark amidst a giant burning flame. And you can follow that fire flame if you wish, but that's going to be another role. And if you do, you will become more fire. You're. You've activated your oracle curse of engulfing flames. [00:51:46] Speaker B: Okay, [00:51:49] Speaker A: you push past. You keep going. And like a flame being lit across the desert, you are going fast and you are going far. You have two options, maybe three. Because there is always a secret third option. Due to the law of manifestation. You can go to Longa, You can go back home, or you can go to this third. This third strong feeling. [00:52:27] Speaker B: Oh, you know, I love the secret third option. That's my favorite thing option. [00:52:32] Speaker A: You zoom. You go past the two. You go past the two words. They're words. And you go. You go for the feeling. You go for the secret third. You go past. You don't know which city you're in just yet. You're not sure. You know it's Mithram because Mithram could be home sometimes. Sometimes people make it feel like home sometimes. But you're not people right now. You're fire. So you go through. [00:52:56] Speaker B: You go. [00:52:57] Speaker A: And you find this third being. A tall woman with red hair, red scales, horns that have been cut but still refuse to die. A tail that has been docked with but still refuses to remain. Small, tall, strong woman in dark clothes. Her hair is red. Red is lucky. Red is very lucky. She is luckier than you. Not really. She is favored by the gods. You're favored by the gods in a different way. Because you're fire. And you're so fucking jealous of her. But you're so not jealous of her. You want to her and be her and be with her all at the same time. And you see her and you hate her. But you like her. Sometimes, maybe on Tuesdays. You know her name is Darjeeling. You know that you are both [00:54:08] Speaker E: stuck [00:54:08] Speaker A: in the same system and have been stuck in the same system for a very long time. And you know that you have never been safe in your entire life. And neither has she. And she is more foreign than you. And you know where she is. You know how to find her. And you know that she can see you you right now. Or she can feel you right now. Because she was looking left and now she's looking at you. You can push past again if you want to. [00:54:48] Speaker B: Oh, enemies or rivals to lovers. I have to keep pushing. [00:54:55] Speaker A: You've taken two. You will take three Afterwards. Everybody else in the campsite, I'm just like letting you know right now you're awake. Because Curio is on fire. [00:55:08] Speaker D: Okay, cool. I was going to ask. [00:55:11] Speaker A: Yeah. And we will get. We will get back to you after Curio is finished. Okay? But just that's what's happening. You're all awake. Okay. You push past. You are fire. You are dust. You are the sun. You are the stars. Right now you see, it is night. It is night. It was day. Now it's night. It is night. She is outside somewhere in some city. She is outside. She is looking at you. You are maybe dust and fire. What do you want to be actually right now? What do you look like? Like right now? [00:55:55] Speaker B: I. I'm just me right now. Cuz I already know what is you. A, a a a cat folk. [00:56:09] Speaker A: If cat folk. You're a cat folk. Are you wearing clothes? [00:56:13] Speaker B: The form that I am in now? Yes. [00:56:15] Speaker A: You're a cat folk wearing clothes. [00:56:17] Speaker B: Probably in different clothes. I, I expect that I am wearing white currently. [00:56:22] Speaker A: You're a cat foot wearing white. [00:56:24] Speaker B: Yes. White robes. [00:56:25] Speaker A: You're a cat. You're a cat vote wearing white robes. I will add to this. You're a cat folk wearing white robes. The robes turn into white fire at the Ends of the tips. You are here, but you are not fully here. That way she can know. That way she will know. Maybe she will figure it out. You're not sure if she knows magic. You're not sure if she knows your magic. You're not sure if she knows really anything, because you're just sure about this moment right now. You can say things to her. She recognizes you're here in some strange burning bush, Moses in the desert type of. That's what's happening right now. You can talk to her. You are given the ability of sending, which is 25 words. Still, you can say something to her. [00:57:19] Speaker B: I look at her and feeling all of these feelings kind of rushing back into my mind, my emotions, this complex back and forth with this person whose name I know but I remember virtually nothing about. And I think all I can muster is find me. I'm underground in this strange place, covered in magic slime that wants me to eat it. I remember nothing. Please help me. That's really all I can think of. [00:58:23] Speaker A: She makes a face, a strange face, like she's trying to understand you through the roaring fire. And then the wind picks up and sand gets thrown into her face. And her hair is so long, and she smells like tea and incense and lavender and vanilla and sometimes cinnamon. And she is trying to push past all of that to make any form to understand anything like that you're saying at all. And she gets most of it, that she can kind of understand you a little bit. And you see that recognition in her eyes. Her eyes are fully black, save for some red hues and a pupil that splits like a snake. She is nothing like you've ever seen before because nobody like her exists, period, that you know of. [00:59:20] Speaker B: And [00:59:23] Speaker A: you can. You can make one thing before you reach a point where you must push again. The one thing she can say to you is, He sent me to kill you. [00:59:40] Speaker B: Now, [00:59:47] Speaker A: You can push past or you can leave. [00:59:50] Speaker B: Who's he? Can I push towards that? [00:59:54] Speaker A: You can push towards that if you wish you would leave the conversation. Well, not really. You can force a memory. You can force something if you'd like, but that is also pushing past. Do you want to push past and have a conversation some more or do you want to push past and remember? [01:00:12] Speaker B: I'm. I'm going to. I'm going to keep the conversation. So I'll push towards that. [01:00:19] Speaker A: Yeah. And you take three, and you will be taking four from here onward. [01:00:24] Speaker B: Okay, [01:00:30] Speaker A: Push past. You can talk a little bit more. [01:00:36] Speaker B: Is it still the same word limit? [01:00:39] Speaker A: I'll give you a little bit more for now. What is happening, though, is like, visually what you're becoming is an even brighter flame. You're whirling around. This is getting Studio Ghibli animation levels of how the smoke, like, pushes out and gets sucked back in. And pushes back out and gets sucked back in. Because you're trying to maintain. Yeah. You're trying to maintain this rift in reality that you've made with this pure, raw form of magic while also trying to not burn anybody alive here. [01:01:16] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, right. There's other people here who also matter, I suppose. Sorry. Above table. That's not me. That's curio thinking. [01:01:28] Speaker A: Well, you're not a person right now. You're fired. [01:01:30] Speaker B: I'm fired? [01:01:31] Speaker A: What is fire? What does people mean to fire? Nobody. There's nothing to nobody. [01:01:35] Speaker B: No. Fire doesn't have feelings. Yeah. Fire. [01:01:39] Speaker A: No, it doesn't. It's a raw form of magic. It is a raw form of anything. And the only reason why you continue to talk to this person is because you push past that. [01:01:49] Speaker B: It's because that's what I wanted. I look at her and I say, since it's more of a conversation now, and I know that I'll say, [01:02:02] Speaker A: why. [01:02:04] Speaker B: Why would he send you to do this? [01:02:08] Speaker A: You've failed too many times. You've been gone for days. We think you're de. Stay gone, stay gone, stay gone while we think you're dead. We can't find you. The blood can't find you. She's saying more things, but this is all you can pick up with the roaring flames of yourself. [01:02:29] Speaker E: Okay, [01:02:32] Speaker B: the blood does that. Do I. Does that make. Do I remember what that is now that I've heard the term? [01:02:38] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm gonna give you a very specific memory. He, blood. All this things. She's so pretty. Yeah, I just. I'm gonna keep bringing that up, but, like, you hate her. You fucking hate her. This stupid bitch. [01:02:54] Speaker E: One second. [01:02:56] Speaker A: Where did I write it? Here you are. You understand? You remember. Ow. You remember. You are part of something bigger. The largest criminal organization in the world. You are part of the Grand Market. Specifically, you belong to the tea market, which resides in Mithram. Your handler is Peppermint. That is his name. That is the only name you have ever been given. The same way that her name. This woman, this fucking bitch, her name is Darjeeling. That is the only name she has ever been given and the only name you are allowed to call her. And the only name that she's ever allowed to have. You have your Own name as well. You don't know it yet, but what you do know is that Peppermint is so disappointed in you and you continue to disappoint him. But you know who doesn't? Darjeeling. [01:04:03] Speaker B: I have failed to kill too many times, despite how many I've killed. [01:04:11] Speaker A: And you only continue to disappoint. [01:04:19] Speaker B: I think when she says, what is the reference to the blood? Is that just what we refer to our cell as? [01:04:29] Speaker A: Oh, the blood. You remember that? All members of the market can always be tracked because they keep your blood in storage. But wherever you are now, the blood can't find you. [01:04:53] Speaker B: I. I don't think I'm really here somehow. Not on this plane. And I gesture to where we are, which I assume at this point I recognize as Longa. Yes. [01:05:20] Speaker A: And no. It is. One second. I'm gonna grab the exact name. East, because Langa is the capital. But okay, the. The market, the Grand Market, actually doesn't operate in Langa. You can get there easily, though. You can get to any of the major cities in Mithram very easily. And by easy, I mean, like, you still have to travel through, like, air or by sand. But it's. You know how to get there. There's only, like, four cities, plus a port. You know, it's like. It's not rocket science. You recognize that the. This street, this area, this is the Spring Court, also known as Bahar. [01:06:04] Speaker B: Bahar. Okay. [01:06:08] Speaker A: And Bihar has a few things that you can think about later about trying to remember it. Because you'll remember what's in Bihar, you'll remember what's in Langa. These are things that. It's like you. These memories are accessible to you now. Yeah, but when you say this, she squints. But also because it's so. It's getting unbearably bright right now. [01:06:36] Speaker B: Is there any way I can calm the fire? [01:06:39] Speaker A: No. No, there isn't. Because you're on four. And you will. You'll be gone soon. She says you wanted to leave. This is how you stay gone. You need to stay where you are. The blood will find you. So bright it hurts. [01:07:08] Speaker B: I think instead of saying anything more, because what can I say? I'm going to try to pull back. [01:07:20] Speaker A: You pull back, you're out. You're no longer fire. You go all the way back as if you were rewinding time, you no longer exist. You poof. You smoke. You are smoke, but you're not. Now you're back in the present. You take four more points of fire damage. Okay, guys. This is on fire. [01:07:43] Speaker D: Yeah, I think that. I assume Cora noticed it first cuz Korra was awake first. [01:07:50] Speaker B: For you. Korra. [01:07:51] Speaker A: Actually, what you saw was you saw Curio. You. Maybe you didn't see Curio tense up and stuff like that, but the fire consumed curiosity fast. And you could still see them in the fire. But soon it grew and grew and grew and it became. It's quite bright. It is hella bright in here. It's bright to the point that you can't see color anymore. And you can no longer see where they are. This fire doesn't crawl on anything. As if the slime is somehow keeping repelling it in some way, but also being burned away. I believe actually your shit starts catching on fire. Guys, your campsite's on fire. [01:08:39] Speaker D: Now, I have a single water spell and I will attempt to use it. Not on Korra. On Curio. The spell is aqueous blast, so it is a damaging spell. [01:08:54] Speaker A: That's fine. [01:08:55] Speaker E: Hit the. [01:08:56] Speaker A: In fact, you. You'd have a plus two to hit this. Yeah, hit him. And I believe this. This spell, you can keep using it because it's. It's one of those ones that's like a. Is it the one that's like a water gun? Like it's a. Because it has a fire version that's also like just a fire gun. And you can just keep. Keep using actions for it. [01:09:22] Speaker D: Yes. So that was a 29 to hit. [01:09:33] Speaker A: Wait, Curio, do you. Are you. Were you wearing armor? [01:09:36] Speaker B: I. Yes. Because we are a bun on our watch. [01:09:42] Speaker A: Okay. And I'm gonna say that you don't have your shield because. [01:09:45] Speaker B: No. [01:09:46] Speaker A: Why would you have your shield? Okay, so your shield is over there. Actually, you no longer have your armor. You burned that off. You are not wearing clothes because you're fire. Yeah, it's all gone. Whatever, except for the magical things that you were wearing. So the ring, the coin, those things are fine. A lot of your gear. Gear is on fire because I don't think you left your area. And anybody who was near your area, their stuff is burning and perhaps might be gone. So we're gonna do a damage control afterwards. But when did. Did the 29 hit you? [01:10:28] Speaker B: Yes, it did. [01:10:30] Speaker A: It did. What's the damage? [01:10:34] Speaker D: It was 2d8 and I rolled an eight total. [01:10:37] Speaker A: Eight. Okay. Take eight points of damage. Curio. Cora. This water does nothing. It did not like you. You hit. It did damage. It does nothing. This water, like just the force is what did damage. This water sizzles away like you didn't cast anything. [01:11:02] Speaker D: I will shout for one of the. The larger companions to grab water from the lake. [01:11:15] Speaker A: You're all awake now, by the way. You're all awake. You can all do things. Your stuff is on fire. [01:11:20] Speaker C: I'm worried about my book. [01:11:23] Speaker A: Yeah, you should be worried about your book. [01:11:25] Speaker C: Person on fire can take a back seat. My. My special encyclopedia is in danger. [01:11:35] Speaker A: While every. Oh, go ahead. [01:11:37] Speaker E: Oh, I was gonna say I am tiny and don't have water spells. So I'm also gonna prioritize getting stuff to the water and trying to put out the fire or if it's not wet and can get wet, getting it wet so it will burn slower. [01:11:51] Speaker D: So [01:11:53] Speaker C: can I see Caria? [01:11:57] Speaker A: Yes. Well, it's difficult and she start. Starts to catch more fire. But it's like you can like they haven't moved from their spot. So you can guesstimate, you know, Curio [01:12:11] Speaker C: acting like a person on fire. [01:12:15] Speaker B: No, not even remotely. [01:12:17] Speaker C: Cuz that really affects like the. Because you're not like, oh my God, I'm on fire. Put me out. You're just like fire. [01:12:29] Speaker B: I am sitting in a meditative position currently. Totally still. [01:12:35] Speaker C: Yeah, I, I have an idea. I am going to see this and see Curio and unfortunately one of you is going to have to sacrifice a blanket from your pack. I'm not going to ask. I'm just taking. I grab the blanket and essentially try to act like a fire blanket towards Curio. But rather than just sort of trying to smother it, I wrap it around them and then I essentially just run with Curio into the water. [01:13:07] Speaker A: Athletics. Just athletics to do it. This is against. No. DC [01:13:15] Speaker C: 37. [01:13:18] Speaker A: You wrap this up. Pick them. You're bringing them to the water? [01:13:21] Speaker C: Yes, yes, I carrying them. I'm going to get wet as well. But it's essentially four. [01:13:28] Speaker A: And you take four points of persistent fire damage which will then be put out because you're in the water. But so you just take four points. Okay. Actually, well, you're not actively cat casting these spells right now. This is like a little special thing. So just. Yeah, no, I'm. I'm actually fine with this. Yeah. Four. You, you take four points of fire damage, but you bring that, you throw that in the water. You're also in the water. Whatever burns you were feeling chill out immediately, but you did take some damage. And the best part about the this is that she's still not out. She's burning the water and also burning you. The water's turning into boiling water. You should probably leave. [01:14:20] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll do That. [01:14:23] Speaker F: Did this wake them up? [01:14:27] Speaker A: No, because you push past so your trance is stronger than the feeling of drowning. Fellas, I'll let. I'll let you guys do one more thing because Compy was putting, like, dropping some water on your stuff to put it out. Joe, I think you're the only one who's not doing anything right now. Because Cora did some stuff. Shrike did some stuff. Comp. Maybe Tic tac. Joe, Tic tac. What are you both doing? Are you focusing on my stuff? Yeah, protecting your stuff. Okay, you don't need a roll for that yet. Joe, what are you doing? [01:15:03] Speaker F: Joe is like, put her stuff out of the way. Seeing that this is not doing anything, I. I want to try to figure out a way to, like, I could clearly see they're in a trance if them being thrown into the water is not waking them up. I want to try to wake them up. [01:15:30] Speaker A: Why don't you make a recall knowledge check? You can use Arcana if you wish. [01:15:36] Speaker F: Arcana? Occultism. Like, you know, the magical stuff works. [01:15:44] Speaker A: If you think being a fire oracle is inconvenient, wait till you read the others. Because they're all inconvenient. That's the whole point about this class. [01:15:54] Speaker B: They really are. I did read it. [01:15:55] Speaker C: Floating away. [01:15:57] Speaker A: Yeah, and you don't stop floating, by the way, until you refocus or you do something else. And in this case, the way that I have it, it's a little bit homebrew over here. It's gonna take a hot minute for you to recognize that your physical body exists again. [01:16:16] Speaker D: Okay? [01:16:19] Speaker F: Arcana is a 32. [01:16:25] Speaker A: This is an oracle. You got it? And the best thing for an oracle is to have an animus nearby. An animus who can absorb the residual divine power. An animus who can help force a refocusing. An animus who can also take the damage, who can also be awake to hear what the rest of you are seeing while jumping back into the trance to do whatever needs to be done. A cleric could also help. A champion can sort of help, but a champion helps sorcerers better, and a cleric helps exemplars better. Who can really help the Oracle is another oracle or an animus. And you are. You have none. [01:17:25] Speaker F: So the only. [01:17:25] Speaker A: The best. The only way to do it now is to ride this out. Protect your stuff. Look at what is happening, because this is beyond you. You are no. You are no Extremity. And you're not even the right type of thing to help the Extremity. The rest of y' all are Just in. Currently just about as useless in this situation as Curio's physical body in submerged in water, while also on fire. Burning the water. Are. [01:17:59] Speaker F: Is. [01:17:59] Speaker A: Is this even drowning? You can't even tell because the water is being burned. It is evaporating. It's bubbles now. It is. It is light bubbles. [01:18:10] Speaker F: So Joe is going to just throw their back to the ground, realizing he can't do anything, and just gonna go in, drag them out the water, taking whatever damage they need so they don't drown or don't evaporate. The only water source that we could see and just throw them away from everyone and just. We have no way of stopping this. So they're either going to die or they're going to have to live through this. [01:18:36] Speaker C: Mention the part about champion I mentioned that they are. [01:18:40] Speaker F: I say that they're an oracle. They are an oracle. This is their curse. Manifesting animus or any other way that could help absorb this energy. Otherwise, I. Again, they're gonna die. Or we could try stopping it with somebody like this, but I'm still gonna grab them, taking whatever damage I may need to drag them out of the water to away from all the gear. [01:19:09] Speaker A: Athletics, [01:19:13] Speaker F: acrobatics. [01:19:15] Speaker A: Nope, you're dragging someone who's on fire in the water. That's double. [01:19:20] Speaker F: What if I flip them over my shoulder and run and flips? [01:19:24] Speaker A: Nope, you still gotta put them over your shoulder. That's heavy. [01:19:27] Speaker F: Okay, 29. [01:19:30] Speaker A: You'll take eight of that damage, and it's persistent, so you gotta put yourself out afterwards as it takes a hot second for you to get them out and put them somewhere else. This fire is hot and it is burning you, but it's not burning you the same way fire does. That is another thing to note. While all of this is happening, I need Curio to just roll another D100. And, Korra, I think you're significantly overwhelmed enough to understand that something interrupted you, that something was curio on fire. But you were being called somewhere in your head, in your mind, and now you're, like, in a corner somewhere, and you can't stop what happens next. So you have an option. Would you like this to be. Would you like this to happen one by one? Or would you like it to happen all at once? And there is no third option for you, sadly. I mean, there will be three options later. Don't worry about it. It's just. It's just right now, the subtlety part is really hard to do when everyone's awake and someone's on fire. [01:20:58] Speaker D: Yeah, I Think that probably it makes sense to just have it all happen. Just be the most possible overwhelmed. [01:21:09] Speaker A: As you're in this corner. I say corner because everybody else is in other corners. They're doing other things. And just ev. Your magic was useless and ev. Just you. A touch of tinnitus kicks in, but also that overwhelming feeling from a panic attack where things just stop making. [01:21:32] Speaker B: Stop. [01:21:32] Speaker A: Being able to hear everything, but you can hear yourself. Your heartbeat, but also a ringing noise. Hence the touch of tinnitus. And then you feel everything touching you all at once on your shoulders. It's the lightest touch ever. The type that when you brush your fingers gently and lightly over your skin and then it makes the flesh prickle up. Put that on your shoulders and then down your arms. And you hear a voice, a familiar voice, go, man, oh man, did you ever need my help. Sweetheart, I can reopen our deal if you would like. I remember our deal. You don't. But what you gotta remember is I have all the power you need. And we can do anything and we can negotiate. I love negotiating. [01:22:49] Speaker D: Is there any emotional valiance attached to this voice? I can't remember them, but is there any feeling coming up? [01:23:01] Speaker A: You remember sheer feeling. Desperation. You're sweating and your mouth is dry. That kind of desperation. And then another creeps in. And it's weird because you can't figure out where this voice comes from. Perhaps it's in your head, perhaps it's someone else. But you kind of see a body in the water. Get up. And nobody else notices this one, but like a water nymph of sorts. And you recognize this face, this body, this effervescence. You recognize Livia in her form. Livia was this. Oh, this gorgeous halfling woman who tried to kill me. Who tried to kill you. But she was hot when she did that too. She's got like. Like, just. She's got like this, like, wavy brown black hair and freckles on her skin. Her skin is tanned from the sun. And she. She always. She just always. Every color looked good on her. Anything she wore looked good. Anything she took off was even better. And she's semi nude right now, looking at you, looking behind you. Like she can see what. What is talking to you, but you can. You just know that voice. You just know that Southern drawl. But she can see it and she can see you. And her eyes are like this, like, brown. Like brown. Like, oh my God, like, Like. Like. Like fresh soil. Okay? Like a field ready to be plowed. And you see her and she sees you. And she says, You want power? [01:25:05] Speaker E: I can offer you power, but only if you escape this place. See the sun, breathe the air, and stay away from. [01:25:15] Speaker A: From the sea. [01:25:17] Speaker E: Choose me and you can have everything. I don't need much. [01:25:23] Speaker D: Not like him. [01:25:25] Speaker E: He needs more. He asks more. He always wants more. [01:25:31] Speaker A: But I don't do that to you. [01:25:32] Speaker E: I feed you good down here, and [01:25:35] Speaker A: I feed you good everywhere. [01:25:39] Speaker E: So I can give you that power you desperately need right now. [01:25:47] Speaker A: Bro. There's a. There's a rat in the corner of the room. And the rat looks at what the fuck is happening, looks back in the direction you came from, runs back there. And when it brushes past your feet because, like, you can't do anything. And also, the rat is bigger than you, now that I think about it, because you're tiny. When the rat brushes past you, you remember because you got this memory before how much you yearn for freedom. And it's there. It's. You need to follow the rat. You need to move and walk or run or gallop, because you're bottom half as a horse, you could fly too, if you wanted to, but you just need to move. And those are your three options. You have two people who are talking to you, and you have a rat in the corner. Three options. [01:26:57] Speaker D: It means pretty bad things about my life. I think that the rat is the most appealing option here, or not the most appealing, because Livia is really appealing. Livia said some appealing things, but I think that that animal instinct of wanting freedom and just needing to move is what speaks strongest to Korra in this moment. [01:27:31] Speaker A: Takes everything in you to move, to rip away. It feels like whatever these things were, were doing everything to hold you in place, to hold your attention. The one on your shoulders lets go a bit easier, but sinks its claws a little bit in you. And you're gonna just take about roughly 3 points of damage from that, this cold bite. But otherwise your shoulders are free again. And Livia is going to frown and tear up, and you remember her face when you killed her. And she starts bleeding and coughing up blood as she sinks back into the water where you left her to die in what? The rain? In the mud. But you can leave her there if you want to. [01:28:53] Speaker D: I don't want to, [01:29:00] Speaker E: But. Oh, but. [01:29:01] Speaker A: But freedom is calling you. [01:29:03] Speaker D: Freedom is calling me. And she's already come back once. Maybe she can come back again. And that's always been the problem, I think, with Korra is that freedom is calling. And he follows it. [01:29:25] Speaker A: You follow it. You're out of the scene for A little bit. And we're gonna keep following you for a second. As you follow this rat, you follow this rat. Rat is running. You are. Are you running? [01:29:40] Speaker B: You flying? [01:29:42] Speaker A: I'm flying. [01:29:43] Speaker D: I'm actually slightly faster when I fly, so I'm flying. [01:29:46] Speaker A: You're flying. You're. You're able to catch up. You catch up. The rat stops running, you stop flying. The rat looks to you. You look at the rat, the rat blinks very slowly, like taking you in, and so you blink as well, and you start to smell the scent of wine and pine. Kind of the smell of wind going through, blowing, all of that. [01:30:21] Speaker B: That [01:30:23] Speaker A: huskiness, honestly, strong smells. And there is an offering here. You are being offered once again. Power. You're being offered one last chance to run with the prince of the wilds because he didn't forget about you like you forgot about him. Or maybe you didn't ever forget about him. Right now, actually, you did. You only just remembered him. Perhaps that's why you didn't notice that there was any fucking rats in this damn cave at all. You actually didn't notice anything in this cave besides yourself and others, because they had a purpose to serve, sort of. So this is the offer. One last chance. [01:31:24] Speaker D: Cora will take it. [01:31:28] Speaker A: That's your pact. You have the pact with the maverick and you can reshape your familiar, who has been here this whole fucking time, by the way. Not the rat, but, like, you remember, you have a familiar now, and you remember that they exist and they've always existed. But you can choose the form. [01:32:02] Speaker D: I mean, I think it stays a rat, but it is not this rat that we saw. It is a rat that is a brilliant turquoise blue in the image of Korra herself. Because what could be more fitting and beautiful than exactly something resembling her? [01:32:22] Speaker A: One little thing, though. The rat has little snake bites. Like the piercing. It's this toy, right? It's here, right? Snake bites are here, I think, below the lippy. Yeah. Your rat has little piercings. Did you have a name for the rat? You don't have to pick now either. [01:32:47] Speaker D: Yeah, I do. Not currently, but I will think about it. [01:32:54] Speaker A: I owe you a memory. [01:32:58] Speaker B: Okay. [01:33:00] Speaker E: Okay. [01:33:01] Speaker A: Would you like to get back to the burning [01:33:06] Speaker B: people? [01:33:07] Speaker D: Yeah, you go back. [01:33:13] Speaker A: Back to the people. Guys, a lot has happened. Your is burnt. Thankfully, not all of it. You got. Some of your stuff is burned, like, to the point of no return. I would say things like extra clothes, some of the. Of the residuals and such. But what does happen, though, is. And we can. We can take stock of what is has been lost. Next episode, because we're gonna be wrapping up a little bit. You see the fire slowly begin to extinguish. It gets smaller and smaller and smaller. Curio, you're going to take. Gosh, so much happened. Let's say 12 fire. 12 more points of fire. Oof. [01:34:24] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah. There's quite a bit of time passing, so that makes sense. [01:34:28] Speaker A: Yeah. So much has happened. And as you find your way back to your physical body, you remember what this life has been like for you. Learning your power, learning how to keep yourself together, and most importantly, learning how to keep yourself under control with this. This curse of a life that you have lived. And you remember how much you hated this. And you wish. A big part of you wish you could just chop that finger off, because that's how you end this. That's how you end this for the rest of your life. You sever that connection. But Peppermint never let you because you're useful like this. Or at least you were. You up too many times and everybody stops being useful. So now that you've pushed past beyond, probably for the first time ever, beyond any. Any beyond the first threshold, I don't think you've ever pushed past. How does it feel as you begin to refocus and calm the down? [01:35:51] Speaker B: I think. I think I have that very sobering realization that I'm in a place I do not want to be and I can only leave if I want to return to a place that I also do not want to be. And I think the sobering realization of that is what refocuses me. It grounds me in a twisted up kind of way. [01:36:41] Speaker A: Take three points of damage as you've went from curse four to curse three. It takes 10 minutes to refocus. So you have to do this three more times, equaling to 40amounts of 40 minutes. The amount of 40 minutes is what I was trying to say. [01:36:58] Speaker D: Oh, my God. [01:36:58] Speaker A: However, as first of all, all of you can see that Curio is calming down. The fire is getting smaller and more controlled, and Curio is like. You can move if you wish. However you choose to refocus is a [01:37:16] Speaker F: bit [01:37:18] Speaker A: however you choose. But the rest of you admits the chaos. Do not get to hear the several footsteps running towards you. And you see three people with a fourth on someone's shoulder. Three people dressed in robes, some leathers. We'll get into their specifics next episode. But you see a purple dragonet with a little monocle on and a lovely head wrap. Look around. Jump, fly, swoosh. Down below stand in front of you, point to the fire and goes, [01:38:15] Speaker D: satia, [01:38:15] Speaker A: if you would, please. And. And this woman named Satia runs over. And you quickly realize she is an animus. And she takes you. She takes some damage. She takes your hand, and she's able to absorb most of this. You will refocus faster, and you'll probably take two more points of damage. But she starts to absorb this fire and this magic like it's nothing. It hurts her. It hurts her, too. She's taking damage as well. But you've never had someone be able to share like this with you. This connection, this feeling. You can feel your magic go into her body, and you can see her push that magic out. And suddenly there are spirits. There is one spirit in particular who kind of wraps around both of you in this embrace that you realize you've never been held like this before. And it is warm because fire can be warm and kind and it can feel good. And eventually it stops. The rest of you see this little purple dragonet, and I don't. And he looks at the rest of you expectingly, almost, and goes, by golly, if it isn't the missing six from the crash. Do you know how long it's been hoodoi? That's where we're gonna end. [01:40:20] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [01:40:21] Speaker D: Oh, my gosh. I love them voice. [01:40:28] Speaker C: How long did you work on that voice? [01:40:36] Speaker F: This is just your minion voice just [01:40:38] Speaker B: pitched on my johnson. Oh, my God. Made yourself cry. Laugh with that one. Jesus. [01:40:53] Speaker A: Take me out in the back, bro. Shoot me. You can go. [01:41:00] Speaker E: Thank you all for joining us on Gobbles and Gays Bright in the Journal House, the fun miniseries by Aki. We have been mostly gobbles and games, but also our lovely guest. Thank you all for joining us. Go. Don't. Don't go beyond fire. Don't be on fire. But yes, do flirt with your rivals. That's a. That's a Goblets and gays guarantee. You got to go do that. Bye, Sa.
