[00:00:43] Speaker A: Wake me now from this sleep I've been dreaming Docks along I cannot find meaning hold my hand let me stay by your side oh, there's never ending night I can feel it now it holds me all the demons in this red light because my love.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: Welcome back to Tyrant of the Dark Star. I'm Aubrey, your gm. I'll tell my players to introduce themselves, who they are, who they're playing, and then we'll get on into things.
[00:01:39] Speaker C: Hi, I'm Maki. My friend is a she, her and I play Gravewing, the Nagaji sylph, vigilante monk slash air kineticist who also uses she, her pronouns. And she is the party mom slash strategist of the rebellion.
[00:01:57] Speaker D: Hello. Hello, I'm Alyssa. My pronouns are they, them, and I play Leith Adrisi iv, the matricidal Dampier, dandy, rogue and spy master who use she any pronouns.
[00:02:10] Speaker E: Hello, I am Dusty. I use they, he pronouns, and I'm playing Eurodo.
Just Eurodo. Still, they are our nephilim cursed boy of a problem.
They are going to be the party and his rebellion's firebrand. And they also use they, he pronouns.
[00:02:32] Speaker A: Hello, I am Farris. I use she, her pronouns, and I am playing Alouette Velaire, a totally normal nephilim thaumaturge bard, having very normal and good time learning all about her way more cursed families. She also uses she her pronouns, and is the anathema partisan.
[00:02:49] Speaker B: But yes, now is the time that I ask what happened last time?
[00:02:55] Speaker A: Oh, crap, that's my job now.
In lieu of. Hold on, stop licking me.
Let's see here.
[00:03:03] Speaker E: To clarify for the audience says, this is the cat.
[00:03:07] Speaker A: Yeah, that's important context.
[00:03:08] Speaker C: No, it's not.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: She will lick me if I go anywhere near her face.
Yeah, so last time we just. Last time and not the time before that. The commoner, so to speak. Plus, Lorelei went into Gavin's room, which was just a room. It was. It had a logbook of finances and like, forced identities.
And that was it.
The people up to Silver Fox were like, eh, I don't know. They seem cool. They kept themselves. That's about all we know.
So the crew decides without anything to go off of, hardly, they're just going to go back and hope that.
Hope that the other half have gotten information.
They also talked about, well, what if we use someone as bait? But decided that would be a bad idea to do without everyone present. Thank you.
The two groups realign at the bar, had a little talk. Lorelai expanded on the ghost story that Yuri got A hold of earlier about a doctor with a wife and children and the house burned down. And then there's stories about the wife wailing for her family.
[00:04:19] Speaker B: A problem.
[00:04:21] Speaker A: Lorelai offers herself up as bait. There's some gay stuff going on with bracelets. That's for. For tactical reasons, but it's gay.
We get to see the mother of the bloody blade's face. And then Lorelei gets kidnapped according to plan, and we follow her back to the burned down manor, which is what we all kind of thought was going to be the thing. And it was indeed the thing.
And then we open up a cellar and it smells like blood and rotting flesh. So, you know, it's gonna be a very normal time.
Mm.
[00:05:01] Speaker B: Yeah. No, you all. We ended last session with you all opening this door to the cellar and smelling blood and rotting flesh.
You all have. I think literally the only one who doesn't have any kind of dark vision is Niall. Right?
[00:05:15] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah, but he has goggles.
[00:05:16] Speaker A: Goggles?
[00:05:16] Speaker B: Goggles?
[00:05:18] Speaker E: Bull goggles.
[00:05:21] Speaker B: Hey, he's got the Sam Fisher goggles.
So as you all look around, it appears to be the basement of a.
Of this burned out house. There is old, dusty and dusty wine racks and things covered in sheets.
Broken barrels, broken crates.
This basement itself looks like no one lives in it other than the smell of blood and rot, rotting flesh.
[00:06:02] Speaker D: Is there a path in the dust that we can follow? Because we saw someone come in here. Right?
[00:06:10] Speaker B: You saw them go around the side of the house.
The only place they could have gone.
[00:06:15] Speaker D: Right, but there's no dust disturbed.
[00:06:20] Speaker B: Give me a perception check.
[00:06:24] Speaker D: Do I start the day off poorly or do I start the day off minus one hero point?
[00:06:31] Speaker B: I. Excuse me.
[00:06:31] Speaker D: Excuse my hero point.
[00:06:33] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:06:36] Speaker D: That is a 23.
[00:06:42] Speaker B: 23. You.
You do notice that there is a.
There is like footprints heading towards one of the wine racks.
[00:07:00] Speaker D: Yeah, I think still keeping an eye out for track traps because we did have the alarm outside.
Leith will head over towards the wine rack and perhaps look for a secret wine bottle. Magic passage.
[00:07:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
There are things covered in sheets, maybe slightly people shaped as you approach.
[00:07:33] Speaker D: That seems like a Yuri problem. I am looking at wine.
[00:07:42] Speaker E: What does like, look at yuri and just like, point towards the sheets or what?
[00:07:48] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:07:52] Speaker E: What?
Is that where we're supposed to go?
[00:07:58] Speaker D: Oh, it might be our missing people is all. You could check to see if Gavin is there. Of course. They seem like they're properly dead. Maybe so hopefully it's better that she's not.
But why don't you take a look?
[00:08:16] Speaker E: The dusty response is why don't you take a look during getting dialed? Not right now, because this is an actual serious situation.
Could I, like, cautiously walk up? Can I do like a perception check or something to see if they're moving or not? Or breathing?
[00:08:39] Speaker B: You have medicine?
[00:08:41] Speaker E: I do have medicine.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: Give me a medicine check.
[00:08:45] Speaker E: I have a good medicine. That's a 25.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: 25.
Two things you notice when they. When you approach them, they are definitely not breathing. And as you approach them, the smell of rot gets worse.
[00:09:00] Speaker E: I'm going to take three steps.
Turn around.
Definitely dead.
We'll have to not going to investigate that unless we need to.
Has Leif told the rest of the party that the tracks go to a wine shelf?
[00:09:22] Speaker D: I mean, I think Leith is looking around at the wine shelf right now, and she's insensitive. Maybe sometimes, but I don't think so insensitive to be looking for wine when moth mom's lover, question mark is theoretically in danger. So you can guess that that's what's happening.
[00:09:44] Speaker A: There's no possibility that these covered shapes are ghouls that are just chilling. Right. We're not going to wake up after we turn our back.
[00:09:59] Speaker E: Well, why don't we get a wall between us so we can find that out later?
[00:10:04] Speaker C: So I'm going to check if the people are alive or not.
[00:10:09] Speaker E: I said they're definitely dead.
[00:10:12] Speaker C: Oh, well, then I'm going to check if the people are ghouls or not.
[00:10:16] Speaker B: Okay, so you kind of go around and sort of like flip the sheets off of them.
Yeah. As you sort of pull the sheet off the first one, you notice that they have been posed, you know, kind of your classic dead arms crossed over the chest.
They look.
The best way to put it is drained.
You can see some marks on the arms.
Those seem to be the only kind of wounds you see.
They don't appear to be ghouls, they just appear to be people in stages of decay.
[00:11:01] Speaker D: Mark's fang marks.
[00:11:06] Speaker B: Are you taking a look?
[00:11:08] Speaker D: No, I ask if they're fang marks.
[00:11:11] Speaker C: Well, I. I was about to ask if they're fang. I. Okay, I was going to ask if they're fang marks, and then I was going to ask for specific fang marks, because I have fang marks that I can make, and they are very different from vampire fang marks.
Like, I don't suck, I inject. So there's different? There is. The wounds are different in that sense, and they might look different. And I'm looking at that specifically.
[00:11:39] Speaker B: Do you have perception or medicine? I would let you roll either.
[00:11:44] Speaker C: I, for sure have perception. I don't know if I have. I don't think. Yeah, I have perception.
You know that you roll it.
Oh, yeah. New die. Loves me. Or at least is showing me affection for now. Until I let my guard down. And maybe it will kill me.
Yeah. 23.
[00:12:09] Speaker B: 23.
Yeah. As you sort of pick up a person's arm and take a look at it, they.
They appear to be more needle marks then fangs.
Something drained all of the blood out of these people in a very medical way.
[00:12:35] Speaker C: Well, that.
That's a little bit more sinister.
Riven's going to gesture to y'all and whoever sees gets to know the information. Basically, these guys have been drained. Not by fangs.
[00:12:58] Speaker E: Does it look like things but it's not. Or is it just.
[00:13:00] Speaker C: It's not fangs.
[00:13:02] Speaker E: Okay.
[00:13:03] Speaker C: Too small.
Not messy enough.
[00:13:07] Speaker E: Do you think someone is trying to shift some blame or causing problems?
[00:13:14] Speaker C: Oh, absolutely.
[00:13:16] Speaker D: From over by, though.
[00:13:19] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[00:13:20] Speaker D: From over by the wine racks. If they sort out calls over, maybe.
[00:13:23] Speaker A: They'Re just jealous or they are experimenting.
[00:13:29] Speaker E: Jealous of what?
[00:13:31] Speaker D: The Dampiers.
[00:13:32] Speaker E: They're kidnapping the trembles of the Dampier so they wish they could suck blood. So they're sucking their blood to be like the dampness.
[00:13:44] Speaker C: They could turn themselves into one maybe. Yeah, I've heard of people doing up shit for very little.
[00:13:53] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, I know this is true.
Le. Have you found a secret wine bottle? Are you still looking?
[00:14:02] Speaker D: Did I find a secret wine bottle?
[00:14:04] Speaker B: Aubrey, give me another perception check real quick as you do that. This wine rack itself has seven or eight bottles left on it, most of them completely covered in dust.
[00:14:17] Speaker D: 25. 25.
[00:14:18] Speaker B: Dust and ash and all of that. 25.
Because the house above it did burn down.
And you sort of probably gently start pulling on these bottles and yeah, literally the sixth one you pull doesn't move.
And you kind of feel the rak. Sort of gently pull.
[00:14:47] Speaker D: I think Leith sort of sketches a little bow and pulls it or activates the trigger.
[00:14:56] Speaker B: Leith, can you make me a reflex save?
[00:14:58] Speaker D: Yay. I said I was also keeping an eye out for traps.
[00:15:02] Speaker B: I've been rolling secret checks.
[00:15:04] Speaker D: Let's see. That is an 18.
[00:15:06] Speaker C: 28.
[00:15:07] Speaker D: 30.
[00:15:08] Speaker B: 30. Okay. That is a critical success versus this trap. As you open it, you hear the sort of the twang of a crossbow bowl. A crossbow. And about three inches from your head lodged in a beam is a crossbow bowl.
[00:15:28] Speaker A: Are you all right?
[00:15:30] Speaker E: Well, was that the right one or the wrong one?
[00:15:34] Speaker D: Yeah. Did anything else open or. It was just a tr.
[00:15:36] Speaker B: You can pull the thing open now. It's just you did not notice that there was like a slight trip wire on it that you pulled and pulled crossbow taut fair.
[00:15:49] Speaker D: No it was the right one.
[00:15:51] Speaker E: Ah security I guess I mean we.
[00:15:56] Speaker D: Saw the alarm outside or I did.
[00:16:04] Speaker E: You'Re though would like to kind of shoulder their rifle and take out the saunt it's like just like have it ready. It's like well we go right and then Yuri's going to start walking in.
[00:16:26] Speaker C: Mm.
My bracelet shows me the direction. Right. Or tries to take me to the direction. Is this the right way?
[00:16:37] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:16:38] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:16:41] Speaker B: So who Yuri, you're heading down this first.
[00:16:44] Speaker D: Yeah. Yuri, can you check for traps? How's your perception?
[00:16:49] Speaker E: My perception is good.
[00:16:51] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:16:54] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:16:55] Speaker A: Alistair can't do anything special and fancy that he would normally do if he were.
[00:17:03] Speaker D: Yeah. Does this seems odd or whatever detect traps or is it just sort of there's a secret passage here?
[00:17:10] Speaker B: It's more of like a secret passage or things are out of place.
[00:17:14] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:17:15] Speaker B: It doesn't do like traps or anything like that.
It might let them realize that there is a trap but not where it is or what it is.
[00:17:28] Speaker E: Yes. I would like to go down in checking for traps.
[00:17:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Give me a perception check.
As you start heading down this tunnel you notice that this tunnel is not professionally made.
Whoever hewed it from the earth itself.
[00:17:51] Speaker E: Taking none of that walking down gingerly. I got a 23 perception.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: 23 perception. Yeah.
You notice sort of the very ramshackledness of this tunnel. There are these sort of old rotting beams set up to brace the walls and this quite possibly might be a tunnel system that runs underneath the entire salvation row made by hand.
You eventually get to a sort of a T intersection. There's a door to your left and then the hallway keeps going off to your right.
[00:18:43] Speaker D: Are we seeing any of the fox symbols that we saw in the sewers or. These are not the same sort of pennels.
[00:18:52] Speaker B: You don't see any of those if you look.
[00:18:54] Speaker D: Okay. Cool.
[00:19:01] Speaker C: Excuse me.
[00:19:01] Speaker A: I was burping.
[00:19:03] Speaker C: Burping again. Excuse me.
Do you Are there any other like identifiable markings or repetitive markings because like you know cult's got symbols.
Tyrant probably has symbols.
You know things like that. Anything repetitive.
[00:19:23] Speaker B: Give me a perception check.
[00:19:26] Speaker D: Vampire perverts have lots of symbols you would doubt 1616.
[00:19:35] Speaker B: You don't see any. This hole is.
It doesn't appear to be connected with anything you've come across before.
[00:19:47] Speaker A: As just a FYI Lou is just going to be constantly pulsing out detect magic with her little I don't know.
[00:19:56] Speaker B: Water Dousing Yeah, there's something magical behind that door.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: Ah, the little pendant will swing in that direction and Lou is gonna point and I just whisper, there is something magical behind that door.
[00:20:16] Speaker E: I'm gonna look at Greatwing. Is that the way we should be going? What's your bracelet down here?
[00:20:22] Speaker C: What's the bracelet telling me?
[00:20:25] Speaker B: The bracelet is pointing you to the. Because the left is where the door is. That's where the something magical is. Bracelet's pointing you, right?
[00:20:35] Speaker C: Nah, that's not the way.
[00:20:39] Speaker E: We want to check it out. In case it's something bad that will follow us.
[00:20:44] Speaker A: Our information to be used to have an advantage.
Or it could be a bad idea.
[00:20:55] Speaker B: Anyone want to take a listen at the door or anything like that?
[00:20:58] Speaker E: I guess I could while like, kind of just like I'm looking for Gravewing, because I know for graveling this is much more higher stakes than for us. Not for like that we don't care. But it's for obvious reasons.
[00:21:11] Speaker C: And gay ones graving will just say, Lorelai is a big girl. She can take care of herself.
[00:21:19] Speaker E: 26.
[00:21:20] Speaker B: 26. You don't hear anything from behind the store. It's not locked. It's not trapped.
[00:21:29] Speaker E: Well, I'm like, okay. And I'm going to slowly open the door. Kind of like motioning people to step back in case there's another crossbow.
[00:21:41] Speaker B: Yeah. As you do, the door opens into a room that could be generously considered an office of some kind. There are papers strewn everywhere. Books. There are books. There is like that sort of.
What is the word I'm looking for? The sort of half cut apart skeleton.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: Oh, that anatomy students use.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:12] Speaker A: So it's got the organs in it and stuff.
[00:22:14] Speaker B: There's also jars filled with preserved organs and body parts.
[00:22:27] Speaker D: Were the people upstairs missing?
I'll sort of ask graveling.
[00:22:34] Speaker C: Did I notice them missing anything? Just.
[00:22:36] Speaker B: Just.
[00:22:36] Speaker C: Just blood.
[00:22:37] Speaker B: Just. Just blood. Don't see any blood. And also, these jars are old. Very old.
[00:22:43] Speaker C: No, they were just missing blood.
[00:22:47] Speaker D: Lovely. Well, hopefully our forager still has their hands.
[00:22:54] Speaker E: Fun, fun, lab stuff. Fun, fun.
Could we.
Is there. So there's like. Is there like a desk? Does the desk have drawers? Are there cabinets or anything?
[00:23:05] Speaker B: Yeah, the desk itself is more of like a table, but the table itself is covered in these journals and papers.
Cabinets on the desk there is the papers.
There are ink quills, and there's a pair of gloves, which. Lou, that's when those are the thing. Like you notice that your thing is going towards those gloves.
[00:23:32] Speaker A: Oh, can I squint at them? Real good. And figure out why they're pinging his magical.
[00:23:39] Speaker B: Yeah, give me a.
Take a minute or two and give me a magical thingy. Check your arcana, occultism, nature or religion.
These gloves themselves, they are clean despite everything. Sort of this clean white.
[00:24:03] Speaker A: 15.
I'm going to say occultism because that's my shtick, but it could have been either.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: 15. You're unsure.
Not high enough to figure out what.
[00:24:17] Speaker A: It is that is.
[00:24:20] Speaker B: But, you know, they are magical.
[00:24:21] Speaker A: They seem cursed. I could roll curse lore if I need to.
[00:24:27] Speaker B: Yeah, give me. Give me a curse lore roll.
[00:24:32] Speaker A: 13.
[00:24:35] Speaker B: No, they don't seem cursed. They seem magical in some way. But you are unsure.
[00:24:40] Speaker A: You know, I was for a while. Just kind of for funsies.
No real intent behind it, just funsies. Putting my dice out with the full moon and I missed the last couple and I'm starting to think they're taking it personally. I think they like the moon best.
I just went, look at the moonlight. You're shiny. You look pretty in the moonlight.
Yeah, they're mad, I think.
Yeah. I'll just mention that the gloves seem to be what is magical.
[00:25:10] Speaker B: Alistair, I think, can make that roll as well.
[00:25:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: And Niall, probably Nile, can definitely also make that roll.
[00:25:18] Speaker C: I'll do that for him.
[00:25:20] Speaker A: Am I the only caster present right now?
[00:25:22] Speaker C: You are, yes. We only have two, technically. Well, no, not even a proper caster because motherfucker was. Alastair can only use scrolls.
[00:25:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Niall is the only, like, true caster.
[00:25:37] Speaker C: Nile's the only true caster.
[00:25:38] Speaker A: Everyone else's.
[00:25:40] Speaker C: Where's his skills? One second.
Oh, there they are.
[00:25:45] Speaker B: What is the role Ark? Whatever your casting tradition. Arcane occultism, nature or religion. What is his plus nine?
[00:25:56] Speaker C: No, I mean, what's his tradition? I don't know.
[00:25:58] Speaker B: What is occultism?
[00:25:59] Speaker C: Thank you.
I got it. 28.
[00:26:05] Speaker B: 28. Yeah. Nile is the only one who rolled high enough. These are healers clubs.
[00:26:11] Speaker A: Oh, that makes it really funny that Lou didn't ping that then. She's literally wearing a pair.
[00:26:20] Speaker B: Yeah, these are. These are healer's gloves.
[00:26:23] Speaker C: Niall's gonna pick them up and be like. Be like, well, these aren't cooking gloves.
I have no use for them. They're healer's gloves. Schism was like, my little mimic box.
[00:26:37] Speaker D: Is gonna be schism now.
[00:26:38] Speaker C: I just need you to know.
[00:26:39] Speaker B: Yes, it's perfect.
But, yeah, no, you get the plus one to medicine checks and once per day you can so the wounds of a living and living person and get to 2d6 plus 7 hit points.
[00:26:54] Speaker A: Anyone Else want a pair of healers gloves?
[00:26:58] Speaker C: Well, Lou, you already have one. So now we have two healers gloves.
[00:27:01] Speaker B: Yeah, I got them from the. Yeah. Fun fact. These can't be used on Leith because of the.
Because it counts as a positive healing effect.
[00:27:10] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[00:27:11] Speaker E: Oh, geez, you wouldn't know that.
[00:27:14] Speaker D: Yeah, I mean, la will take them like she does heal.
[00:27:18] Speaker B: They don't take. They can't harm you because it says you can't harm undead with this healing.
[00:27:22] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:27:24] Speaker B: It just does nothing.
[00:27:25] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[00:27:28] Speaker B: No, I mean, plus one item bonus. The medicine checks. Nothing to sniff out.
[00:27:33] Speaker D: Yeah. While the casters are looking at the gloves, I would like to look at the papers. Is there a theme? Is it research notes? What's going on here?
[00:27:47] Speaker B: A lot of these papers are anatomical drawings.
You know, like the first one you pick up is like an arm, like a human arm. And it's in the drawing itself.
[00:28:02] Speaker E: It's.
[00:28:03] Speaker B: You watch as the. Whoever drew this expertly drew it, sort of peeling away each layer, sort of listing what they are.
And eventually there's a lot. You see many different ancestries. You see elves, you see all sorts of different people. And eventually you get to a crudely bound leather journal.
[00:28:32] Speaker D: I would like to check it for traps and then open it.
[00:28:35] Speaker B: Yeah, give me a perception check.
[00:28:42] Speaker D: 17.
[00:28:46] Speaker B: Okay, so yeah, there's no traps on this. This is kind of the journal. It's got like that sort of leather bookmark that's specifically bookmarked to a page. Are you going to open it to the first page of the book or where that bookmark is?
[00:29:00] Speaker D: I will open it to the bookmark page. Does it seem like it's skin leather or normal leather?
[00:29:06] Speaker B: It seems like normal leather.
[00:29:07] Speaker D: Okay, cool.
[00:29:08] Speaker B: Just making sure you've not encountered the Necronomicon yet.
[00:29:17] Speaker A: Not in this universe.
[00:29:22] Speaker B: That book gets around as you open to this page. It is a journal to a day in savants about 40 years ago.
And it says, I've done it. I've proven them all wrong, that it can be done.
Now I just.
I have to keep it quiet until I'm done my research.
The holy blood will kill me if they find this out. And that's the entire entry.
[00:30:03] Speaker D: We looked at scary Professor Tallis notebook journals. Is it similar writing or totally different?
[00:30:11] Speaker B: Totally different handwriting.
[00:30:12] Speaker D: Beautiful.
[00:30:13] Speaker B: This person is, especially with what you've rolled and your kind of upbringing. This is someone who, at least for part of their life, had a very nice and fancy upbringing. You can kind of tell.
But through the wearing of time, exhaustion, it's kind Of Fallen by the Wayside.
[00:30:35] Speaker D: If I flip back to the first page, is there a title plate or anything this book belongs to?
[00:30:44] Speaker B: No, there's not.
[00:30:46] Speaker D: Sign your journals, guys.
But I will sort of flash it to the group and say they've proved something a while ago. Though I don't know why they're continuing with experimentation or what they're experimenting on really.
[00:31:11] Speaker A: And why would it be so unpleasant to the holy blood?
[00:31:20] Speaker C: A lot of things are unpleasant to the holy blood, but I would say this is probably.
It's probably something nasty based off of the fact that we had a bunch of dead bodies drained of blood and we are in a stinky basement.
[00:31:42] Speaker A: Did we determine with the bodies whether they were dhampir bodies?
[00:31:48] Speaker B: I would think you would at least check for fangs, even though you would know that not all dhampir have fangs. You know, some of them have different forms of showing their undead heritage.
There's somewhere you could tell with fangs. Others you were a little unsure.
[00:32:09] Speaker C: So are you saying they were all for sure? Damfir, you could.
[00:32:14] Speaker B: There. There were a few bodies up there you would be unsure about because they would have no obvious signs of their vampiric heritage.
A bunch of them would have like fangs or claws or something like that. Something to sort of show that.
And they're all very pale from being drained of blood.
[00:32:35] Speaker C: They were most. At least the ones I could identify are most likely dampier, so.
[00:32:41] Speaker E: Well, let's hope whatever they're experimenting on doesn't find us here.
[00:32:47] Speaker D: Actually, Aubrey. So I flipped to the first page. In the bookmark page, there's writing past the bookmark page. Yes.
[00:32:55] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Bookmark page is about 2/3 of the way through the journal. Well, there's a little bit after the bookmark page. It's about 2/3 of the way through the journal.
And the final page that has writing on it, it says, they know. Oh, God, they know.
I'm so sorry.
[00:33:18] Speaker D: I think so. I think Laith is still sort of flipping through the journal while people are talking about Dan Pears and says, well, it sounds like maybe their work was stopped. And this is a fun continuation of it.
[00:33:31] Speaker E: Lovely.
[00:33:32] Speaker A: Do we think maybe this is someone else picking up where they left off?
[00:33:39] Speaker C: That's not out of the question for sure.
[00:33:43] Speaker D: I mean, the page I was looking at was from decades ago.
It would be strange if they figured something out and waited another 40 years to act on it.
[00:33:54] Speaker A: Right. But we are under the house that burned down, so it is possible that burning of the house might have interrupted research.
Depending on timing could be the reason.
[00:34:14] Speaker C: Why the house burned down in the first place.
[00:34:20] Speaker E: Wait.
You should go find your big girl and get them out of here.
[00:34:26] Speaker C: Oh boy.
Let's go. We're going, right?
[00:34:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:33] Speaker D: I'm gonna take the journal. Yeah.
[00:34:38] Speaker B: So you leave the room and head the other way. And as you start to move through, it starts to sort of angle down as you're going deeper into the earth and you're walking for a minute or two before you come out into another room. It's a large sort of natural cavern as a.
It's been put to use for whatever this person is doing. You instantly can see the outlines of cages and you can the smell of rot, decay, sweat, blood. Just gets worse as you enter this room.
[00:35:39] Speaker C: Are there anything in the cages?
[00:35:41] Speaker B: There are people in the cages and some of them seem alive, but very weak. Some of them seem like corpses. People have expired.
Some of them seem okay, relatively a little weak.
All in all, there's probably about 10 cages and about 20 people, most of which will all just instantly shrink away from the bars. Seeing any of you.
[00:36:20] Speaker A: Ladies, can you.
Can we get them open?
[00:36:26] Speaker C: Not yet.
[00:36:28] Speaker D: Might be safer for them to stay in there until they deal with whoever took them.
[00:36:35] Speaker A: As long as we are sure we can deal with it. We don't know what it is.
[00:36:44] Speaker C: If you're scared, you can go back.
[00:36:49] Speaker A: I just don't want our hubris to mean that these people stay here and.
[00:36:55] Speaker C: I don't want our generosity to get us killed.
[00:37:00] Speaker E: We wouldn't need to help them out anyways. We should keep going until we figure out what's going on and get them on the way back. Hopefully we'll have more hands on the way back.
[00:37:13] Speaker C: I'm following my bracelet.
[00:37:16] Speaker B: It pulls you through this room.
Near the end, there's someone who comes up to the. The, like the, like the cage door and like rattles on it a little bit. He goes, you've got to help us, please.
I don't know their name.
[00:37:41] Speaker C: What do they look like?
[00:37:44] Speaker B: For the most part they wear a hood, but underneath they're.
The best way I could describe it is they don't.
They're stitched together.
[00:38:04] Speaker C: Are you a dhampir?
[00:38:06] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:38:08] Speaker C: This is presumptuous. Do you know if this thing is undead or not?
[00:38:14] Speaker B: I. I don't know if she's undead.
She certainly seems. She doesn't have any.
It seems when she does talk, she seems very educated.
I was talking to some one of us about books. She tracked them away to drain them.
[00:38:37] Speaker C: Do you know why she's Draining you guys?
[00:38:40] Speaker B: I don't know. She needs the blood for something.
Something in the lab down there.
[00:38:47] Speaker C: Are you strong enough to walk?
[00:38:50] Speaker B: Yeah, she's only. She's only trained me once.
[00:38:53] Speaker C: Okay, I'm gonna gesture to this one.
[00:38:58] Speaker D: We know. We got a description of Gavin. Is this our forager?
[00:39:03] Speaker B: Yes, this is Gavin. Oh, shit.
[00:39:05] Speaker C: Fucking Gavin.
[00:39:07] Speaker E: Fucking Gavin.
[00:39:10] Speaker D: Yeah. Leith will get to work on the lock and say as she's working, say it's really inconvenient that you got taken. Lorelei sent us.
[00:39:22] Speaker B: Oh, thank God.
Yeah.
[00:39:32] Speaker C: Where's your captor? Do you know where she went?
[00:39:36] Speaker B: She took whoever Zendria's captive through there down to the lab.
[00:39:41] Speaker C: Okay, I'm gonna need you to do something after you get out of here.
[00:39:45] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:39:46] Speaker C: You go up the stairs, you get out. You're.
You're at that haunted, burned down house.
[00:39:52] Speaker B: Good to know.
[00:39:54] Speaker C: Go get Clover.
It's Clover, right? That. That's the. That was the alias, right? Okay, good. Yeah, go get Clover. Let Clover know where we are.
Bring more people, because there are more people here in cages.
[00:40:11] Speaker B: Looks around and goes, yeah, yeah, I can.
That was.
That was Lorelai, right?
[00:40:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Clover knows that we've. We've. We're with her. Just. She just needs to come here.
[00:40:27] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I can do that.
[00:40:29] Speaker C: And bring more of your guys.
[00:40:32] Speaker D: 24 on the lock?
[00:40:34] Speaker B: Yeah, 24 is enough. These aren't incredibly complex. There's just people in here stuck without any kind of tools to try to open them. And you pop the lock on it and open the door, and Gavin is a little unsteady on his feet. He's been kind of locked in this for a while as he sort of opens and pushes the door open and Tina sort of gets his bearings and. Yeah, I'll go. I'll go grav and I'll be right back.
[00:41:10] Speaker D: Do you need anything to stabilize before you leave? Food? Blood?
[00:41:16] Speaker B: I.
I wouldn't say no to anything to eat, but I'll be fine.
[00:41:23] Speaker D: I feel like Niall has pocket snacks.
[00:41:25] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely has pocket snacks. Niall is like, here is food.
[00:41:30] Speaker A: Niall pulls out a whole charcuterie board.
[00:41:34] Speaker E: Betting made on the way down here.
[00:41:35] Speaker A: Uh huh.
He's always in the background just crafting snacks.
[00:41:41] Speaker C: If you wait, like, I don't know, 15 more minutes, the bread will rise.
[00:41:44] Speaker A: Yay.
Oh, no, my muffins aren't ready.
But don't worry, I'll have them when you come back.
[00:41:53] Speaker C: The combat muffins.
[00:41:54] Speaker A: The combat muffins.
[00:41:55] Speaker B: It's a little. Just sort of like. It just ends up being bits of cheese and meat between bread and just eats it while he leaves the lunchable. Exactly.
[00:42:07] Speaker A: Ye olde lunchables.
[00:42:11] Speaker C: And now I need to know what Nile's opinion on lunchables are. You see that? Because I know some people hate lunchables.
[00:42:18] Speaker A: Like true lunchables or like the concept of lunchables, but like a good version?
[00:42:23] Speaker C: Both.
[00:42:25] Speaker A: We can find out. We can message Tick.
[00:42:27] Speaker C: Yeah, like I want to know Nyle's opinions. Yeah, I want to know the opinions now of Nile and Lunchables. Yay or nay.
[00:42:36] Speaker D: But yeah, we're following the bracelet and the path down, right?
[00:42:39] Speaker C: Mm.
[00:42:41] Speaker D: Is Mothmom or is Graywing in front now?
[00:42:44] Speaker C: Yeah, probably makes sense.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: Yeah, you do that. You head down through this and it continues through these sort of hand carved tunnels.
Are you all trying to be stealthy?
[00:43:06] Speaker D: Yeah, I am.
[00:43:09] Speaker B: Can I get stealth rolls for everybody? I'll roll for Alistair. If somebody would like to roll for Nile, I do.
[00:43:17] Speaker C: Yep.
It's the way I don't trust Tick ever. Even when they're not here.
[00:43:23] Speaker A: I can give Tick. I think I have guidance again. I think. Hold on. Yes, I have guidance again. So I can give Tick guidance.
[00:43:33] Speaker C: No, Niall has very good stuff. I just don't trust anyone else rolling for Tick.
[00:43:37] Speaker A: Oh. Oh, I see.
[00:43:41] Speaker D: Hey, Dusty, why you look so concerned?
You have a hero point.
[00:43:47] Speaker E: I. I use my hero point.
[00:43:50] Speaker A: Hey, are we about to be twinsies?
Did you with a one with a hero point?
[00:44:01] Speaker E: I got a two with a hero.
With my plus two. Stealth, it is making a four.
[00:44:13] Speaker A: I at least pulled my natural one into.
Where'd it go? Into an eight.
My dice want me to die today?
[00:44:26] Speaker D: We've got a 26 moth.
[00:44:28] Speaker C: Mom gets 23. Niall gets a dirty 20.
[00:44:33] Speaker A: What about Alistair?
[00:44:34] Speaker B: Alistair got a 22.
[00:44:38] Speaker E: I also get one from the spider soul coat, so that's a five.
These aren't even Yuri dice. Right on the.
[00:44:49] Speaker B: Yeah, you.
Unfortunately, you kind of hit one of those spots that's very echoey in the hall. And Alouette and Yuri, you decide to say something to each other at just the wrong moment and it just. It's a little too loud and just kind of echoes for a minute.
[00:45:14] Speaker C: Turns around, gives Eugene the dirtiest look that you cannot see because her whole face is covered.
[00:45:20] Speaker E: It's literally like, be careful.
[00:45:24] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:45:25] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:45:26] Speaker A: Oh, echo, echo, echo.
[00:45:31] Speaker E: No, Alyssa.
[00:45:33] Speaker A: That's for later.
[00:45:36] Speaker B: Exactly.
So. Yeah, you too. And somewhere in the distance, you hear the sound of something crashing.
[00:45:49] Speaker C: Oh, well, now we running.
[00:45:51] Speaker A: Mm.
[00:45:53] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a little too late now we're Giving away. There's a loud boom noise. Well, crashing noise.
Greywing's just gonna take off and run.
[00:46:04] Speaker D: Following at a run run.
[00:46:08] Speaker B: Yeah. You all break into a run and start heading down these hallways. And it's only maybe about 100ft from where you were. You enter into another of these natural made caverns, and there's several things you notice. First, one is the strange figure in the hood has something over their shoulder and is running through a further exit. Two, they seem to have knocked over a giant bat of chemicals that's on fire. And three, Lorelei's trap to a gurney.
[00:46:42] Speaker A: Is she awake or is she unconscious?
[00:46:45] Speaker B: She is awake currently.
You'll notice that in her arm are some of these. Some of this medical equipment that appears to be like a blood transfusion machine on a very large scale.
[00:47:04] Speaker A: Does. You said the hooded figure has something over their shoulder, like a person or.
[00:47:08] Speaker B: There are two gurneys in this room. One has Lorelei, one is empty.
[00:47:13] Speaker A: Gotcha.
[00:47:14] Speaker C: I'm very fast, so I am going to continue chasing, but I will point to Lorelai and just say, get her out. And I'm taking off strapped to a gurney.
[00:47:30] Speaker D: Like leather straps. Not leather straps.
[00:47:33] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:47:34] Speaker D: Okay, then I am also going to give chase because I am, I think maybe five feet behind you.
[00:47:40] Speaker C: I am pretty sure you and I are very. Just very fucking fast because Rogue and monk.
[00:47:44] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm 35 right now.
[00:47:46] Speaker C: I'm also 35. Let's go.
[00:47:51] Speaker E: I. I would point for Lou to keep going and I'll get lower line.
[00:47:57] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, that. That solves her dilemma.
[00:48:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
We're going to start another chase.
[00:48:09] Speaker D: Oh, I was about to. Niall has some cool anti chemical ice spell.
[00:48:14] Speaker B: No, they do not.
[00:48:16] Speaker D: But they deal with kitchen fires, so they should be.
[00:48:19] Speaker C: I was gonna say. I was also gonna say, can Niall handle the fire and stay back because that if anyone's gonna deal with fire, it's fucking Niall.
[00:48:28] Speaker E: I should also point out y'all have seen Yuri turn their blood into fire multiple times before.
[00:48:33] Speaker A: That's true.
[00:48:33] Speaker C: Yeah. But you would just be adding more fire to the fire is what it sounds like.
[00:48:38] Speaker A: I get stronger, at least immune. Question mark. Less likely to burn.
[00:48:43] Speaker B: And Alastair will stay behind and try to help with this weird laboratory thing as the rest of you. We're gonna move into a chase and I'm going to need either.
I'm just going to need an athletics check from all of you to start off.
[00:49:03] Speaker A: Oh, I'm regretting coming along.
Let's go, baby. Let's go. This is a bard Dice, please press.
All right, let's go.
[00:49:20] Speaker C: My love of mix is coming through. That's all I'm gonna say.
[00:49:25] Speaker A: With a plus zero. I got a 17. 17. 17's pretty good.
[00:49:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:49:32] Speaker D: Dirty 20 for lathe.
[00:49:35] Speaker C: Dirty 30.
[00:49:40] Speaker D: Bam. Let's go.
[00:49:44] Speaker B: You do. And you. You all, for the most part are keeping chase.
This person's a little bit ahead of you currently as you try to keep them within your sights. They seem to know these tunnels very well.
And you get a better look at them. This person they have over their shoulders, it's a person person shaped. It's kind of hard to tell too much from here. They're also wearing the same kind of dark clothing you.
So eventually there is a point where you watch as she is going to throw something behind her. There are sort of four small pellets. And as they hit the ground, they sort of erupt into this smoke.
And you notice before you there are gonna be two different caverns, two different tunnels that she could tick. How do you wanna deal with this?
[00:50:47] Speaker C: I am the wind. Could I activate my impulse and through the activate, I can also make an elemental blast attack to just burst blow the thing. But yeah, if it's like we only got one action per se. I would like to argue that activating my kinetic impulse because it starts forming more wind, more air around me, that's what bursts through the smoke.
I have two actions and I'll just punch it.
[00:51:20] Speaker B: It can definitely help. It would just be like one action. Like what are you doing in this moment?
[00:51:26] Speaker C: Activating the impulse. So that way the burst of air that comes out of it pushes the smoke away so we can see where they go.
[00:51:34] Speaker B: Hey, what is everyone else gonna do?
[00:51:39] Speaker D: I'm not gonna wait. I'm just gonna arbitrarily pick a direction. I will go left.
[00:51:45] Speaker A: Okay, so we did not see which direction she went.
[00:51:48] Speaker B: The smoke would. She's still probably about like a good tunnel length ahead of you. Okay, so she threw this down and then has had a few seconds to pick which way she's going.
[00:52:03] Speaker A: Okay, then I guess I'm gonna pick the opposite route that Lathe went.
Yeah, yeah, I think so. Because she can't hook Laythe up to a transfusion machine right now. She's busy running.
So it's probably fine. It's probably fine.
I'll just go the opposite way and hope one of these directions is correct.
[00:52:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
So, you know, gravewing your air impulse definitely gets rid of the smoke. But by this point she's chosen a direction is running down. It needed the momentary distraction.
Do you follow either los or lathe?
Because one's going left, one's going right.
[00:52:57] Speaker C: No, I'm going to wait for one of them to shout if they see him, because I can catch up.
[00:53:04] Speaker B: Okay, so Alouette or Anne, length. Could you roll me perception checks.
[00:53:13] Speaker D: 25 again, Ferris.
[00:53:16] Speaker A: Yes. But, hey, this time it's a 10 total.
[00:53:24] Speaker D: Get me to the moon.
[00:53:28] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. They're real, real mad about this. They're upset. They love moon time.
[00:53:36] Speaker C: It's been an hour. We got another hero point.
[00:53:39] Speaker A: Do we?
[00:53:40] Speaker B: Yeah, it's.
[00:53:40] Speaker A: I already used one. I will reroll. I'm gonna. I keep cycling through the dice, too. I have not yet used the same dice twice.
Girl, what is wrong with you? I gave so many angels wings. This is a bell dice. It rings a lot anyway, so that's gonna be a 13. Nope, sorry. 12. I can't count.
I gotta. Three.
[00:54:05] Speaker B: Sorry.
[00:54:06] Speaker A: Three.
[00:54:09] Speaker B: Okay, you do that and you immediately. You don't see anything down this tunnel, but unfortunately, at this point, you're like 40, 50ft down this tunnel. Length. You notice footprints.
[00:54:25] Speaker D: Yeah. Length.
[00:54:26] Speaker B: But you don't see the person.
[00:54:28] Speaker D: Okay, do the footprints stop or I continue? Could I follow them?
[00:54:33] Speaker B: They continue. Yeah.
[00:54:35] Speaker D: Okay. Leytha's going to shout left.
Hoping that that means that, yeah, Aloette and Graewing can hear her and just continue to follow the footprints as fast as she can without losing them.
[00:54:52] Speaker C: Do I hear left?
[00:54:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, it's tunnels. This thing is going to echo.
[00:54:58] Speaker C: I'm going to yell left again just for Alouette, because I'm closer technically. And then I'm just booking it left.
[00:55:06] Speaker A: Yeah, I'll backtrack.
[00:55:09] Speaker B: Yeah, you do that.
[00:55:12] Speaker A: And you wait before I backtrack because I just remembered this person disappears a lot.
I do want to. As I'm running because it's a cantrip. Detect magic. I'm flinging that. Flinging that little pendant around just to make sure that they didn't just stay put and hide in the corner.
[00:55:31] Speaker B: You're not getting that as you're running around.
[00:55:35] Speaker A: That's fine.
I just remembered the hole. They appear out of nowhere, but I'm like, oh, crap, we detected magic last time.
[00:55:44] Speaker B: Yeah, you do that and you immediately head down the other tunnel and eventually, eventually get to another large open area.
Learning a lot about the tunnels under Malakon.
You're being led on a merry chase. And whoever has society. Roll me society real quick.
[00:56:12] Speaker A: You think it's gonna matter? Let's find out.
[00:56:16] Speaker C: 17.
[00:56:17] Speaker B: 17. Why?
[00:56:18] Speaker A: Why this time?
[00:56:20] Speaker C: Why?
[00:56:20] Speaker A: For this. Why? It's a 29.
[00:56:24] Speaker B: It's a nerdy thing. It's a 29.
[00:56:28] Speaker A: Ask me about my city. Ask me about the place I never go to. Ask me about it.
[00:56:33] Speaker D: Has studied sewer maps. 22 Relay.
[00:56:36] Speaker A: She would though.
[00:56:38] Speaker B: 22 Lou. You understand this immediately.
It's simply because just like ways of orienting yourself and the directions, you are relatively sure that if you follow these tunnels, continue to follow these tunnels, you will eventually end up in Hollow Haunt, which is the district that fell into a sinkhole years ago.
Because you are also sort of going down as you do this.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. As they're running, she's just gonna be like, I think what I did with the hollow hand, that isn't a sinkhole.
[00:57:25] Speaker B: So, Yuri, you are back in the lab as you work to get Lorelai unstrapped from the. The gurney. And Niall puts out the fire. It doesn't really take all that long to get Lorelei unstrapped from the gurney. I don't imagine you take the time to unblock. You just cut the thing.
[00:57:48] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
I got like three blades on me easily.
[00:57:54] Speaker B: And Alistair is there, and Alistair has medicine, so it gets the transfusion stuff out proper, properly. So, you know she's not going to start spurting blood everywhere.
And Lorelai says to you and says, that was a little bit more than I was expecting.
[00:58:18] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. Did they. Did they. Do they take anything from you? Are you okay? Are you able to.
[00:58:24] Speaker B: Certainly trying to take blood to whatever the other person was. They were trying to put the blood in them.
[00:58:33] Speaker E: That's worse.
[00:58:37] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, it certainly was.
[00:58:43] Speaker A: We.
[00:58:46] Speaker E: Found Gavin. We sent him out to get Clover. Okay, I'm going to start chasing them.
Are you in good shape? Do you want to go run after I am? How do you want to go to your people?
[00:58:57] Speaker B: I took a massive knock to the head, so I think I'm not in any shape to give chase right now.
[00:59:05] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I understand. We go to your people. They're bringing back up. There's some more dampier song over there. We need to go get going because we need to know what the hell is going on.
[00:59:15] Speaker B: Yeah, go, go, go for it. And we'll reach to sort of like sort of a hidden pocket inside the shirt of her.
Inside her shirt.
And will pull out a set of lockpicks and say, you go, I'll unlock everyone.
[00:59:36] Speaker E: Sounds good.
If something bad happens, just yell. I'm sure one of us will be able to hear it.
[00:59:44] Speaker B: Sure. Ferris, you can leave a trail of silverware because that is so loo.
[00:59:55] Speaker E: That is incredibly loo.
[00:59:56] Speaker A: Just drop it as you hit a junction. Drop a spoon, drop a fork. Not a whole trail. Just only at the junctions pointing in.
[01:00:03] Speaker B: The direction you go.
[01:00:04] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:00:07] Speaker E: Yeah. And we'll start heading off. Yuri would 100% immediately understand that this is probably not the first time.
[01:00:20] Speaker B: Okay, will the rest of. Well, all of you actually give me a quick athletics check to see how well you're doing at this point.
[01:00:30] Speaker A: You like twos? Are those maybe a good number?
[01:00:36] Speaker C: No, girl, you're getting tired.
[01:00:39] Speaker B: Yeah. You're gonna take a level of fatigue.
[01:00:42] Speaker A: Let's do it.
[01:00:43] Speaker B: Level of exhaustion.
[01:00:45] Speaker A: I can't have worse athletics. That's a lie. I could. I could have a negative instead of a zero.
[01:00:52] Speaker D: I had to use a hero point. But 23.
[01:00:54] Speaker A: 23. Okay.
[01:00:55] Speaker C: I use nothing of this for 25. I still have two.
[01:00:59] Speaker E: I also like being a hero point. And that was 26.
[01:01:03] Speaker C: To be fair, we are doing something. I have plus 11 in. And can actually do even better in.
[01:01:11] Speaker A: No.
[01:01:11] Speaker B: 100%.
[01:01:11] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:01:12] Speaker A: I've also just been rolling like crap. Abs?
[01:01:15] Speaker C: No. Absolutely.
[01:01:17] Speaker A: In a field I'm bad at already.
[01:01:19] Speaker C: I'm literally at the point where it's like, give me holes to jump. Watch. I'll get farther. Even.
[01:01:27] Speaker B: So, Yuri, it doesn't take you that long. You're used to sprinting, running away.
[01:01:32] Speaker E: I'm picking up the spoons as we go because it's 100% awesome.
[01:01:35] Speaker A: That's cute.
[01:01:37] Speaker B: Of course, that may also impede your way back.
It's fine. Yeah.
It doesn't take you very long to catch up with them. And I'm gonna say that for the moment, Niall and Alistair are helping with the herding of people out.
And Gravewing, Aloette and Laith and Yuri, you all meet up and you just keep going. And there's a point that happens is you. It's a sharp turn. It's a sharp turn into nothing. Alouette and everyone else is ready to stop on the dime, but unfortunately, you just really don't have the ship shoes for this. Your shoes go skidding and you are about to fall.
[01:02:29] Speaker C: I'm fast. Can I grab reflex?
[01:02:32] Speaker B: Check.
[01:02:32] Speaker A: You know what? Surprisingly, somehow, I am an expert in reflex. Will that matter? Let's find out.
[01:02:40] Speaker B: Wait.
[01:02:41] Speaker D: I'm also fast, but Gravewind can grab her. Can I also try to grab her?
[01:02:45] Speaker B: Actually, I can. Yeah.
[01:02:47] Speaker A: Hey.
[01:02:47] Speaker B: Hey.
[01:02:48] Speaker A: Guess what? You don't need to. You know what? I was given as a gift to make up for my time.
[01:02:53] Speaker C: You give it a nat.20 I was.
[01:02:55] Speaker A: Given a nat 20, so take a 28, baby.
[01:02:58] Speaker B: So I think what happens is, like, you immediately start going. They throw their arms out. You throw your arms back and grab both of their hands and Leif's hands as. As you look out over into this chasm. The trail stops here.
It's hard to tell.
It may go down a couple hundred feet.
It's further than your vision.
But, you know, this person is a spellcaster of some kind, so they probably had some sort of way to get down.
[01:03:41] Speaker A: I have a way to get down.
Lou says in character, even though that wasn't her voice.
I don't know if any of you have ever gone climbing before, but I have rope. I can make rope.
[01:04:07] Speaker E: Okay.
[01:04:08] Speaker C: We'd literally just rather jump.
[01:04:11] Speaker A: That is a long way down.
[01:04:14] Speaker C: I know, but I don't like the fact that you said that you can make rope.
[01:04:20] Speaker A: It's okay. It doesn't hurt.
[01:04:22] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I. I didn't clock that make.
[01:04:26] Speaker A: Don't worry about it. Y.
Just close your eyes and climb on the rope. Okay.
[01:04:33] Speaker E: I don't know if that picked up on camera, so let me do it again on the audio.
[01:04:41] Speaker D: She assumes that this is some magic bullshit and just like, okay, well, let's. We're losing the trail.
[01:04:46] Speaker A: Yeah, it is technically magic, sort of. But this is Luke who doesn't do magic very well, so it's a little more literal than that. Yeah, she's just going to casually cut herself open with a little card and just pull out her guts. But it doesn't look painful in any way. And she's being very chill about it and is like, don't freak out. It's fine. Okay. Don't worry about it.
And it's going to catch inside ropes.
These are the ropes from inside your body.
So we get 50ft at a time. But I figured we can do this rock climbing style and just re anchor it periodically with her body.
[01:05:29] Speaker C: Moth bomb's gonna look at you like, is it?
No. Is all of your magic just disgusting? Because first boogers, now this is this.
[01:05:49] Speaker B: You know what?
[01:05:50] Speaker A: This might be why I was rejected from the academy, in retrospect, three times.
Anyway, running out of nighttime.
[01:06:01] Speaker C: Let's go.
I'm just gonna grab one and slide down. And once I get to the end of the rope, which is 50ft, you said Aubrey, is. Do we. Do I see the bottom?
[01:06:21] Speaker B: You do not.
[01:06:22] Speaker C: Do not. Okay. I will yell back up 50ft. No bottom.
Just so that way, you know, you'll probably have to do this again. And I don't mind doing this solely because moth mom has wind pillow. So if I do see the bottom, I will jump. Like I'll let go of the rope. So that way I land perfectly fine basically and just can give us like a basic idea of how far down we're going.
So yeah, that and whoever just is done with the rope thing can just let go and I'll catch you.
[01:07:03] Speaker D: Do you have a way to get back up?
[01:07:06] Speaker C: Just climb? No, no, we're all climbing back up. That's the fun part about this. Yeah, I mean in theory I could help push myself up with wind, but that would be so many blasts and I don't think it. It'll. It'll work out. We have to climb back up or find another way out.
[01:07:26] Speaker A: Maybe a helpful eagle will fly through.
[01:07:30] Speaker E: Hey Aubrey. Uh huh. What DC of a check would I need to simply do the thing where I stick a weapon down to hold myself like sturdy and just kind of slide down this wall?
[01:07:50] Speaker B: A 50.
[01:07:52] Speaker E: I could give you a 29 on a crit. How about that?
[01:07:59] Speaker B: Yeah, like if it was only like 50ft, I would probably allow that. But this is at least 100ft. You can't tell because it goes beyond your vision.
[01:08:10] Speaker A: You don't want to use your cousin's guts to descend a wall. I don't understand why not.
[01:08:19] Speaker B: And as you're they're squishy.
[01:08:20] Speaker A: They're not like slick as you're looking.
[01:08:22] Speaker B: Around, it's kind of like have you. You've seen like, like what the inside of an anthill looks like?
There are tunnels that sort of just croupped all across the wall. So you could theoretically climb down from tunnel to tunnel to tunnel to tunnel down. But yet again, getting out is going to be your problem. You've also shorted two party members who are back there.
[01:08:49] Speaker D: We've presumably lost the trail.
[01:08:51] Speaker B: At this point, you're relatively sure that she went down.
[01:08:59] Speaker C: Are we all the way down yet?
[01:09:02] Speaker B: No, because also I would need you to make rolls if you were going to do tunnel to tunnel to tunnel to tunnel.
[01:09:12] Speaker C: Well then if that's what the case is, I would suggest we just once we're 50ft down, we climb back up. Because that there's no point.
[01:09:20] Speaker B: Yeah, currently is.
You can.
This person seems to have gone down into Hollow Hunt.
[01:09:31] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I think I agree. Like, well, we've lost them. We should count our losses. We got the person we're looking for.
[01:09:40] Speaker C: We got most of them out, but.
[01:09:44] Speaker E: Lorelai is getting the rest of them out.
[01:09:48] Speaker C: Well, I figured we also Let Gavin out.
[01:09:51] Speaker E: Yeah, so.
[01:09:53] Speaker C: No, what I'm saying is we also have Juniper. You can maybe ask her if there's any. If she knows any.
Any more Sciency freaks.
[01:10:09] Speaker B: She's part of the Sciency freak union.
[01:10:11] Speaker C: Yep. You know this. If you. I don't know, those notes that you found seem familiar or anything, but we're not getting anywhere if we continue down here. Besides lost.
We can also try again in Hollow Haunt, but.
Well.
[01:10:34] Speaker D: The channels that we've been running through. Are they your girls or they're someone else's?
[01:10:42] Speaker C: Huh.
[01:10:45] Speaker D: They seem different now. Sort of hand dug.
No smuggler marks.
[01:10:52] Speaker B: Who are you talking to?
[01:10:54] Speaker D: Graveling.
[01:10:56] Speaker C: Graveling looks. Gravewing feels confused. The vibes are confusing.
[01:11:04] Speaker D: Are these the blades? Tunnels.
[01:11:08] Speaker C: They're not right, Aubrey?
[01:11:10] Speaker B: No, they are.
[01:11:12] Speaker C: These are. No.
[01:11:13] Speaker D: No.
Interesting. I wonder how far they go.
[01:11:22] Speaker C: Well, if this is Hollow Hunt, then they say something might be alive down.
Could just be like a giant worm.
[01:11:37] Speaker E: Lovely.
[01:11:39] Speaker C: Come on, let's go back. We got a long trek back.
[01:11:45] Speaker A: Lou is going to very neatly coil her guts back up like you would properly wrap, like an electrical cable.
[01:11:54] Speaker C: I need you to know that.
[01:11:56] Speaker A: Pop them back in.
[01:11:57] Speaker C: Gravewing is watching the whole time.
If you try to turn for privacy, Burning is going to walk around to watch the rest of it. It's like, you know, like a car crash and you can't turn away or like, you know, you know something disgusting is about to happen and you just. You just have to watch the whole thing through. Oh, my God. Like when an ear cleaning video or a pimple popping video shows up and you're like, well, I guess this is my next 30 seconds.
That's what. That's what's happening with Bruiv. There is no comment section to hide behind. Blue.
And when you're done, when you're done, Brave's just gonna.
She lifts a hand to like, maybe like, perhaps touch like. Like touch her head or something like that. Remembers that this is the hand that was used to like, climb down and then just wipe it on her pants a lot.
Look, I'm not saying it's not useful, but it is wild.
[01:13:07] Speaker A: I am aware I don't have an explanation for it.
[01:13:14] Speaker C: I. I am much more interested in how you learned how to do that.
[01:13:19] Speaker A: That one is a funny story. But Yuri hates it or would hate it if they ever learned about it. So I don't really mention it much.
[01:13:29] Speaker E: Yuri just like, look over a handful of spoons.
[01:13:34] Speaker A: There is a fence. And I did not always climb out my window. Very well. Thank you for the spoons, Yuri, I'm glad they were useful.
[01:13:45] Speaker E: Yuri's gonna do the thing where like, I assume there's like dirt or dust on the ground. Gonna get their gore covered hand covered in that. And like Robert Soul gets off.
[01:13:56] Speaker A: The best part is Lou is wearing healer's gloves. So her hands spotless and lathe in theory, if you're wearing the gloves as well. Same situation.
[01:14:09] Speaker D: Hell yeah.
[01:14:12] Speaker C: Gravewing has no gloves. I was bare handed. There's bits in my fingernails. I'm wiping that off just constantly, I think, I think, I think only one hand was on the rope the whole time and I just like slid it down. Like a fireman pole kind of vibe.
But just, you know, just looking at that, just like, you know, just it's, it's my. Like I'm walking with one hand slightly like open, like I'm trying to let the wind clean it. Like just kind of.
Have you ever had a parent try to not make something awkward, like trying to like do what you're doing, but is also very clearly not into it? Like lgbt. Wow, like that kind of vibe.
[01:14:59] Speaker B: Yeah, you. You eventually get back to. It probably takes you because you're probably not rushing back to the lab and everything. So it probably takes you closer to 30 minutes to get back there.
When you get back there, there's the put out fire. There's all the lab equipment and the other gurney and transfusion machine. And then continuing on. There's nobody in the cages anymore. Any of the bodies have been taken out as well. And if you continue going up till you get to the street, there's a lot of downfear just hanging out there.
You come out at a moment where Gravewing, you can kind of see the little small reunion between Clover and. And Lorelai. There's sort of. It's a quiet moment of just like a quick forehead touch between the two of them before, you know, Lorelai turns around and you watch as she puts the mask back on and starts addressing the rest of the damf here and says, we will find the person who did this and they will be dealt with accordingly. But for now, we will take you all back to our base and you'll all get medical attention and anything else you need.
I'm going to double the guards on this house and if they show their face here again, we will deal with them first. We protect our own.
[01:16:50] Speaker C: Those tunnels lead all the way back to Hollow Haunt, probably, and there are many.
[01:17:00] Speaker B: Yeah, I will.
I'll figure it out. We'll keep my people safe.
I'm sure. You're all very tired and possibly hungry.
If you would like you can come to where we operate out of for the night. I can put you up figure out what to do in the morning.
[01:17:31] Speaker C: Any objections, look into the group.
[01:17:35] Speaker A: Very gracious of you. Thank you.
[01:17:38] Speaker E: We'd appreciate it.
[01:17:42] Speaker C: I'm gonna take the bracelet off and give it back to Clover.
[01:17:46] Speaker B: Clover will nod and say thank you.
[01:17:51] Speaker C: You might want to make more of those and just start attaching it to these people.
[01:17:57] Speaker B: Lorelai says softly. Thought had crossed my mind it might.
[01:18:02] Speaker C: Be the best thing right now. It seems that this person's a bit of a.
You know it's getting really hard to defend science like for me.
[01:18:17] Speaker B: Yeah they certainly seems to be a bit to that, you know old ghost story more than we initially thought of course but.
[01:18:30] Speaker D: Certainly something when is the story when did that start?
[01:18:38] Speaker B: 30 years ago before my time it was already something used to scare children and staying home at night. At night?
You know, when I was a child.
[01:18:53] Speaker D: Did you get a look at the other one? The one who was being transfused?
[01:18:58] Speaker B: Yeah, they seemed. I think they were an elf.
It didn't appear to be a dumb fear. They were very weak and they certainly looked like they had sustained damage from a fire.
[01:19:17] Speaker C: Still alive?
[01:19:19] Speaker B: Barely.
[01:19:23] Speaker C: I can't believe I fucking called it.
Can you?
I'm sorry. This also might be very.
This is a weird question. How are dumb fear made you see.
[01:19:38] Speaker B: When one person loves another.
[01:19:40] Speaker C: Holy. No, I'm talking. There's got to be more ways to be young.
[01:19:47] Speaker B: They're certainly feeding someone blood is the first I've heard of it. It's usually more of like becoming a full vampire.
There are stories about ingesting vampire blood.
You know, if someone while pregnant ingests vampire blood there's a chance that their child might be a down fear. Sometimes it's just a vampire gets real gets it on with somebody and all of that. There are very few ways to make dawnfir that I'm aware of.
[01:20:27] Speaker C: Do you think with these blood transfusions I'm assuming giving it to the burnt up bitch. Yeah it'll actually make a vampire instead.
[01:20:37] Speaker B: That's theoretically possible.
Enough of it.
It certainly seemed like they were pouring a lot of blood into this person and it may not be having the because there's at least six dead people.
[01:20:55] Speaker C: Are you counting the ones upstairs or ones dead?
[01:21:00] Speaker B: I haven't gotten the full count yet. Mostly counting the ones upstairs and the two that Gavin and I held out of there.
There might be more.
[01:21:13] Speaker D: They thought they had figured it out 40 years ago.
Maybe they just need more blood. I mean, Danvir haven't been going missing in the district for the last 40 years, have they? To your knowledge?
[01:21:28] Speaker B: Not that I'm aware of. I've been in control of it for the last a little while, but.
No, that's almost 20 years. But certainly now. This is new for this.
[01:21:45] Speaker C: Well, I guess we just find the oldest person here who's been taken, tell them what day it is, and then try to figure it out from there.
[01:21:55] Speaker E: Assuming there hasn't been.
[01:22:00] Speaker C: Assuming they can remember what day they were taken. Yeah, a lot of.
[01:22:07] Speaker E: A lot of strange things you could do with blood. So this is concerning.
[01:22:15] Speaker C: Okay, let's go. This place smells bad and my hands touch guts today in a very weird way.
[01:22:28] Speaker B: We have running water. You can all clean up.
And you're all led back to the crowing hammer and then through a door in the back of the crow and hammer down to this sort of underneath part from the tavern. And it is like a tavern within a tavern underneath these are where the bloody blades play their trade. There are people relaxing, people celebrating, people planning jobs, people fencing goods.
And you're all given rooms and given food and place time to clean up.
And we'll figure out what you do with all of this time in the mor in next week.
[01:23:21] Speaker C: It's my turn, right? We're taking it away.
All right.
Thanks for listening.
If you like what we do, make sure to, I don't know, follow us on Twitter and Blue sky and a bunch of other places that we're in. You know, goblets and gays. Follow us on Twitch. Because we also stream now and we have. I mean, if you like this vampire stuff. We have more vampire stuff.
Wow, I bet this sounds pretty nasty. Wouldn't you just want to log off now and you just want to cancel this? You should. And then show up again next week. Maybe I'll do this again. Maybe I won't.
[01:24:07] Speaker B: Maybe you will.
[01:24:12] Speaker A: Me stay by your side oh, this never ending night I can feel it now it holds me all these demons out in this red light because me he is reaching out consuming.
We must face it.
