Show Notes

The Hallow Haunt Crew needs to put their plan into action, if Talis is correct he has what can save Lou's mother. Its time to break into the historical society, but what might wait for them in these vaulted halls? Well I guess its time to see what is behind door number one.

[00:00:00] Speaker A: Sam Waking up dreaming dark so long I cannot find meaning hold my hand let me stay by your side through this never ending night I can feel it now it holds me all the these demons always roam me in this red light because me he is reaching out consuming. [00:01:31] Speaker B: Hello, welcome back to Gays. I'm Aubrey, your gm. I'll toss my players to introduce themselves ourselves, who they are, who they're playing and we'll get rolling into things. [00:01:40] Speaker C: Hello, I am Faris. She her and I play Alouette Valer. Also she her a bardic thaumaturge beast kin doing her best while juggling a family curse, falling in love, and of course the end of the world. [00:01:54] Speaker D: Hello, I'm Dusty. I use they he pronouns and I'm playing Eurido. Formerly Moran, still a problem, just angrier now. They are blood hunter nephilim problem. Just, just trying to fix things even though it's all bad. They also use they he pronouns. [00:02:18] Speaker E: Hi, I'm Alyssa, my pronouns are they, them and I play Laithrisi, the fourth Dampier Dandy, rogue, failed matricide with a minus one constitution modifier. Leith uses she. Any pronouns. [00:02:31] Speaker F: Hi, I'm tick. I use he, she, they pronouns. And today I'll be playing Niall, who uses he they pronouns. He cooks, he cleans, he eats people, and has an alien parasite living in his spine, slowly consuming him. What more could you ask for? [00:02:45] Speaker B: So this feels like a loaded question, but what happened last time? [00:02:49] Speaker F: Aubrey cocked me from committing cannibalism yet again in 4K and I'm still kind. [00:02:54] Speaker C: Of sad about it. So. [00:02:57] Speaker F: So we had a nice talk about everything. Talos overheard us, as in me planning his murder and also Lewis filling him on in about the Fae court stuff and talking about maybe marrying the queen potentially, if you want to. Talos was like, honestly, you guys don't even have to like kill me. I'm already dying. Also, you want to go in this sick ass vault where we steal family possessions that are also technically yours because you are blood entitled to it. And I was like, ooh, I love stealing from vaults. He's like, there's a lot of elves. And we're like, ooh, we love stealing from vaults slightly less because we don't like the ill. We ended up splitting up a little bit and having some conversations. Yuri and Leith went to find some alcohol to drink and have a nice conversation about how Leith is emotionally constipated. And I mean, half it's from all top cocktails, half of it was to drink. And Yuri was like, hey, Leith, have you considered stop being emotionally constipated? And Leith was like, I mean, I've considered it, but like, you know. And then Alouette and I allowed to have a fun conversation about, hey, express your feelings in a healthy manner. And Lou was like, you know what? That's fair. I'll consider it. She said, considering it. And then using the power of me reading my abilities because Aki reminded me that I have abilities I should read. Thank you, by the way. Again, I picked up the spell telepathy. And we got to have a nice conversation with Lou's mom. A, dropping Molotov cocktails on the eld and B, hey, so your dad is actually really fucking toxic. And so is the person she cheated on with, but that's unrelated, but somehow not as evil. And the end. Lou just took a deep breath. Like, I'm going to have to destroy my family name, aren't I? Maz, I think we got to kill this family. And that is roughly what happened. We're going to break into a little cute. A very demure, very mindful vault. The elevator is not ready yet. We haven't seen the elevator, so we're getting home, break into a vault, very cutely, sneak in, get some cool items, maybe blow up some L as a treat. All that jazz. I can't eat Talus, but I'm so sad about it. It's okay. I'll eat someone one day. I'll eat someone that's into it. Or just in general. I don't care. [00:05:06] Speaker C: I was gonna say you did get to eat a corpse way back when in Cool Town, but I don't think he was into it way back when. [00:05:13] Speaker F: In the old days. Niall is dying. Niall is starving to death. And you guys are like, yeah, it's fine. Please. That's funny. To eat some of you. You're next. She's not leaving the halls. That's what I'm saying. [00:05:26] Speaker B: Last session with Yuri and Lou going to have a conversation, or Yuri going to find the screaming bird. Lou. [00:05:38] Speaker D: Yeah, I. Yuri would have gently put down the, I don't know, bag of bottles and would have gone to go check on Louis just to make sure, like, she isn't being, like, attacked or something and would say, lou, Lou, what's. Are you okay? And there's no one else here, right? [00:06:06] Speaker C: No. That is why I'm up here. [00:06:11] Speaker D: It's. Did you talk to Eloquence? [00:06:21] Speaker C: Yes. A lot more than I expected to know how to spell. [00:06:28] Speaker D: I see. Well, if you want to tell me how even more up our family is. I'm here to listen if you just want someone else here. [00:06:51] Speaker C: I was going to just double check you aren't lady of Thorns, and I think you answered my question. [00:06:59] Speaker D: I don't think they got me. [00:07:00] Speaker C: Unfortunately, I didn't ask how it worked. Maybe I should have. [00:07:09] Speaker D: They need to capture your reflection or something like that when we saw them in the mirror, and it's not important. [00:07:19] Speaker C: So just me that's. I don't know, comforting, I suppose. [00:07:25] Speaker D: And other people that we don't know, but no one else we do know that we know. Okay. I. I assume we're like, on the. The rooftop or something. [00:07:45] Speaker C: If it's possible. Get up there. That's where she would have gone. [00:07:51] Speaker D: Yuri's gonna, like, take a seat and offer Lou to sit down if you're able to. [00:08:00] Speaker C: In terms of the roof or in terms of. Do my legs bend that way? [00:08:05] Speaker D: Correct. [00:08:07] Speaker C: I think perching is easier. [00:08:10] Speaker D: Yeah, you're. But Yuri would sit down next to you, and it's like, so, what's new? [00:08:21] Speaker C: Oh, boy. Well, I got to ask her one. Sorry. The important part is that she's going to help us. So that is good. [00:08:30] Speaker D: Good. [00:08:35] Speaker C: Possibly she will also be a distraction so that we can have less to avoid going in. We didn't determine how because we could suddenly talk anyway. And I had more pressing questions, to be honest. And, you know, then I wanted to know answers. So many answers. And Papa is part of the unbroken. [00:09:11] Speaker D: So, like, confirmed part of the unbroken. [00:09:15] Speaker C: Has been for a long time. And he is the reason my mother is a bird and also the unbroken. Then Hetor captive and kind of forced Talis to create a plague. Who knows how into it he was. I don't know. But it was enough to keep her from being dead. So I don't know if I should be grateful or not for that. I guess so. Yeah. That is the long and short of it. Papa was acting distant and strange. Oh, I almost forgot. Z blood cursed the family. [00:10:08] Speaker D: Okay, so screaming on the rooftop is very warranted. So the whole. So that. The whole. It wasn't like an act of God or something. It was the. [00:10:42] Speaker C: All of us punished for one person, evidently doing the right thing. [00:10:51] Speaker D: Generations later, here we are. [00:10:56] Speaker C: We are somehow doing the wrong thing. I guess we learned our lesson, didn't we? [00:11:07] Speaker D: Well, you know, I don't know anything I can make light of this, but at least. At least, I don't know. We. We. Way. We more or less have been. What's the word? Disowned by the family. [00:11:43] Speaker C: Yeah. So. [00:11:47] Speaker D: I guess we could care about our names even less. So maybe we just do first names now. [00:11:59] Speaker C: I thought it would be fun to sort of destroy the name publicly. Permanently. [00:12:06] Speaker D: Oh, you know, I think we deserve that, actually. [00:12:11] Speaker C: Do you want to help? [00:12:16] Speaker D: I've already done it for the Moran. [00:12:17] Speaker C: So we should go bigger. And we can start with robbing our own coffers, apparently. I didn't know we had coffers that year. [00:12:30] Speaker D: Neither did I. I'm sure our family has kept lots and lots of secrets. And lots of secrets were kept from us. Well, this also. I mean, I. I don't. Hortensia is like also clearly with the unbroken too. So. [00:12:56] Speaker C: A whole lifetime of forced piety and all this time, my own father. And to think I faked an engagement to keep the family name safe. [00:13:21] Speaker D: Hey, you. You thought you were doing the right thing and you always try to do that. [00:13:34] Speaker C: Try is the operative word. I am not good at succeeding. [00:13:42] Speaker D: That isn't your fault. You. Look, you were not allowed to go anywhere. You were not allowed to do anything. You had this shitty father. Okay. I knew there was a good reason to hate that. Just cuz I don't. I couldn't even begin to think why they didn't like me as much. [00:14:11] Speaker C: I know. You're so charming. [00:14:14] Speaker D: I know, right? They come with so many cool names for him. Barry, Bartholomew. [00:14:25] Speaker C: I don't know that he appreciated that. [00:14:32] Speaker B: So. [00:14:34] Speaker D: Well, seems like destroying the name, I think, is a great idea. You have my support every part of the way. I think now it's just maybe Yorido. Maybe just Alouette. I would say you could take a 3C, but I don't know how well that's gonna go as well. [00:15:03] Speaker C: Yeah, I guess I have to blow up an engagement too. Please. Should be. Please go. [00:15:18] Speaker D: Just stop pretending it's fake. I think Le and I have had our differences, clearly. However, they were the first person to try to jump into this hole even before I would. They were just going to jump down here, let me tell you. And honestly, I would rather have someone that's going to willing to die for you than try to, I don't know, say you're not dressing right for a party or make you wear 17 layers of clothes so you could smile for one group. [00:16:20] Speaker C: I. I was given some good advice and I think I will give it a go. I don't expect it to be well received, but I have. I have come to terms with the fact that I really, really have held the torch long enough. Especially for someone who arguably didn't Deserve a good portion of those years, given the complete silence. But I am nothing if not stubborn. So here I am. [00:17:06] Speaker D: You know, something we could say for ourselves. And you know, to be fair, I'm glad someone else talked to you. As much as I want you to do well, I understand my history is not exactly. [00:17:21] Speaker C: Well, you have a lot of it. [00:17:25] Speaker D: Only. Yeah, yeah. [00:17:34] Speaker C: Y. One last thing, of course, is. Am I very ugly as a bird? [00:17:47] Speaker D: I wouldn't think you're ugly, but you are very bird. Like I. [00:17:55] Speaker C: You know. [00:17:56] Speaker D: Hey, I don't think I'm pretty as whatever the I become. [00:18:01] Speaker C: You are very scary. [00:18:04] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah. [00:18:05] Speaker C: And like, it is also very cool. [00:18:10] Speaker D: I don't think some people. I don't think some people will agree. So this whole middle transformation, I've never been able to do. [00:18:27] Speaker C: Well, if it is any consolation, I don't think I can turn it back off now. Last few times or I flick. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Or. [00:18:40] Speaker C: Was the fake. The fade definitely did it the last time. [00:18:43] Speaker D: I see. We could try the grounding thing, though. Maybe it'd be useful right now to be able to. Can you run faster like this? [00:18:57] Speaker C: No, no, I don't think it does anything useful. I could bite you. But I can bite you anyway. You know, I got t. I think. [00:19:07] Speaker D: I think Yuri's gonna like. Like, playfully, like, poke your beak mouth. This would probably hurt a lot more than chomping. Okay. Yes, that did hurt. Thank you for the demonstration. [00:19:24] Speaker C: Sorry. Things come near my face and I just bite them. I think I've eaten two of the moths. [00:19:30] Speaker D: You eat the moss? [00:19:32] Speaker C: I think so. There's like a spring in my teeth. I still can't get out. It hurts. [00:19:39] Speaker D: Oh, dear. That's. Those are like. [00:19:45] Speaker C: I think the purpose. The other form. I don't know. [00:19:53] Speaker F: I don't. [00:19:53] Speaker C: I'm not her. She's different. She's another person. [00:19:58] Speaker D: Okay. [00:19:59] Speaker C: She's bitey. She wants bones all the time. [00:20:03] Speaker D: Yes, but you want to go back down and grab some more of whatever Nile made? [00:20:12] Speaker C: Yeah, we should rest, I suppose, and then, you know, break into a cursed historical society and fight a bunch of elves, which hopefully are not as bad as they were when we rescued Nadia, but, you know. [00:20:28] Speaker D: Yeah, we'll see. I have less bigger guns now, so hopefully it's not as bad. [00:20:35] Speaker C: Ari. I could only smuggle in a small one. [00:20:38] Speaker D: No, it's not your fault. I'm the one that got captured. [00:20:42] Speaker C: Hey, I've done it twice in aura. I got kidnapped for my kidnapper. [00:20:50] Speaker D: Wild. [00:20:51] Speaker C: I know. And then proposed to anyway. Cool. [00:20:58] Speaker B: Well, so is there Anything else anyone wants to do before we roll the day over and you start this plant? Any last minute declarations of love? [00:21:12] Speaker F: Lace, you need therapy. Hold on. Lace, you need therapy. [00:21:19] Speaker E: Okay, I'll go talk to Talus about it. He's got lots of romantic success. [00:21:23] Speaker B: Oh yeah, I'm sure that'll be great. [00:21:26] Speaker E: Wow. [00:21:29] Speaker B: So you all eventually settle in and try to get some sleep, and the next morning you all wake up early. Now you make food what you can and you start to really put this plan together. So working through most of the rest of the day and into this morning, Talus didn't sleep and but has brought 10 minor lesser alchemist fires. [00:22:12] Speaker F: Thank you, Pallas. [00:22:19] Speaker B: And he says, don't worry about me. I have ones that I can make in the moment. They just don't keep very long. He sort of points. I think there is a side entrance which will be our as of a few days ago, our best way in. Through there, we should be able to avoid the majority of the nest before we can get to the stairs down to where the vaults are. And then from there should be easy to get to the coffers and then we can get out. [00:23:00] Speaker C: Is Eloquence going to run distraction for us as well as fire guard? [00:23:05] Speaker B: Yeah, the will run distraction. And do any of you have a way to signal for when you need fire guard? [00:23:22] Speaker C: I have a bell. [00:23:26] Speaker B: That you bring in combat anyways. [00:23:29] Speaker C: I can just not do that. I can. I can cast message. If she's within 120ft, she'll try to. [00:23:36] Speaker B: Stay within that because it's a pretty decent like ban. Say, you can at least let her know that. [00:23:47] Speaker F: All right. Well, we were dropping boys in Fortnite, you know, parentheses the fire bombs. [00:23:55] Speaker D: Not till later on the way out. What was was Eloquence gonna do distraction? [00:24:06] Speaker B: Yes, it's gonna do distraction beforehand to hopefully pull them away from anywhere near the side entrance. [00:24:14] Speaker D: Okay, cool, cool, cool. So side entrance. That means we try to get in as quick as we can. Yuri will take some of alchemist fire. And I would also just like to have a weapon on fire ready to go so I could wave it around. I have the surrounds with me, so. [00:24:38] Speaker C: Yeah. Can I draw a card please? [00:24:42] Speaker B: Yes, yes you can. Let me open up my. Is it. There we go. [00:24:57] Speaker F: Like I just remember something. Can we have asked Talis about any immunities or resistances that the ELD has that he knows about? Just because I'm looking at my spells. [00:25:07] Speaker B: Yuri would have gotten them before with the NAT20. Maybe we got a little Distracted today. Give Yuri everything. But for. For them, they're. They're. They're resistant to piercing and slashing a little bit, and they're immune to mental effects and poison. [00:25:29] Speaker F: Okay, gotcha. [00:25:30] Speaker C: Okay, do we, for free, get their weaknesses? [00:25:34] Speaker B: Fire. [00:25:35] Speaker D: Fire. [00:25:36] Speaker C: Sweet. [00:25:39] Speaker F: That's lit. [00:25:41] Speaker B: Okay, draw the Mountain Man. Chaotic Neutral. Chaotic Neutral. Card of constitution. The giant represents an encounter with physical power outside the subject's control. So it's a neutral card. So this one is. Whatever. I said for neutral. I think it was just advantage. [00:26:17] Speaker C: Yeah, I'm looking it up. Oops. I have it written down here. I'll find out. Neutral is roll twice. Yeah, it's advantage. [00:26:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Go twice and take the better. [00:26:34] Speaker C: What does. Did you already read what the card like means? [00:26:39] Speaker B: The giant represents an encounter with the physical power outside the subject's control. [00:26:44] Speaker C: Yeah, that's. That tracks. That's what we're up against. [00:26:51] Speaker D: Are these alchemist fires lesser or moderate? [00:26:54] Speaker B: They are lesser. [00:26:55] Speaker D: Okay, cool. [00:26:57] Speaker B: That was the easiest way to make a lot really quickly. Cool. [00:27:02] Speaker C: How many exactly were there again? [00:27:04] Speaker B: There were 10. [00:27:05] Speaker C: That's what I thought. 10 lesser. [00:27:07] Speaker F: Should we each take, like, two or three? [00:27:10] Speaker C: There's. I'm going to take two, four, five of us going. So we can each take two. If we count Alice and say, do. [00:27:17] Speaker E: We need to leave any for your mom? [00:27:20] Speaker B: You probably want to leave some for her. [00:27:22] Speaker F: Yeah, they're gonna be slinging spells anyways, so. [00:27:26] Speaker B: And Alice can make his own. So. [00:27:29] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:27:30] Speaker E: Should we each take. [00:27:34] Speaker C: Go ahead. Oh, sorry. [00:27:36] Speaker E: I was gonna say, if, like, Lou, Laith and Jerry each take two, that would leave four for the mom, which seems good for distraction. [00:27:44] Speaker C: Yeah, I was gonna say I'm like, somewhere around like four or five for. So same page. [00:27:53] Speaker F: Maybe Yuri can leave his behind just because he can already do fire damage. [00:27:56] Speaker C: Question mark. [00:27:58] Speaker D: I would run to have something ranged. [00:28:01] Speaker F: Okay, that's fair. I also made five lesser healing potions. You guys can distribute them as you'd like. [00:28:08] Speaker D: I'm gonna definitely take one immediately because I do 14 damage to myself. [00:28:13] Speaker F: Yeah, they're not very strong, but it's better than zero. [00:28:15] Speaker C: So wait, don't take the. Don't take the healing potion off the bat. Take the chalice off the bat. Because you can just sips it. [00:28:23] Speaker A: Or. [00:28:24] Speaker B: You can just drain it and it'll be good again in 10 minutes. [00:28:26] Speaker C: Yeah, it'll take probably 10 minutes to get there. So, yeah, you can drain it and have. [00:28:29] Speaker B: It'll take probably close to an hour to get there on foot. You have to go a little bit of A distance. It was. Hollow Haunt is a very large district. [00:28:39] Speaker D: Okay, so then I'll do all this 10 minutes prior, because I think my crimson Right. Lasts for a minute. Yep. As active as long as I hold the weapon. [00:28:56] Speaker C: You would get back 21 hit points if you drain it 10 minutes in advance. [00:29:04] Speaker D: Cool. And I'll just go back to full. [00:29:06] Speaker C: Sweet. [00:29:07] Speaker F: I love the idea of Yuri just being like, hold on, let me just. It just sits, like, on this brilliant. 5. Just is walking casually with this right. Actor the whole time. Like, you know, it's efficient. [00:29:16] Speaker C: Sipping from a Kool Aid, Capri sun. [00:29:22] Speaker B: Eventually, after about an hour of walking, especially, you're doing this quietly. It says to not pull any random patrols or anything. Or any. Yeah, it takes the hour. And you can see it off in the distance, this once beautiful building that is now overgrown, literally, with these vines that you. All that. Well, three of you saw yesterday, animating these bodies, these thorned vines. And as you approach, you hear the cawing of eloquence. And you watch as she sort of drops down, sort of like, lets herself kind of crash into the earth a little bit, claws extended. And you watch as several of the claws grab several of the figures, beak grabs one, tosses, and then does, you know, the. The bird thing of taking something really high and then dropping it. And that certainly gets the attention of the eld. [00:30:40] Speaker C: Good job, Mom. [00:30:42] Speaker B: So as you move into doing this, I'm going to need stealth checks, however. [00:30:50] Speaker D: All right. [00:30:53] Speaker F: I blinked twice and almost quit crafting instead. And I'm like, what am I crafting? A plan. Jesus. [00:31:00] Speaker C: Let's go, Cousin Dice. [00:31:05] Speaker E: 34 for Lace. [00:31:08] Speaker B: I did. [00:31:09] Speaker F: 26 for Nile. [00:31:10] Speaker C: 29. [00:31:12] Speaker D: 28. [00:31:14] Speaker A: Hey. [00:31:19] Speaker B: I. And Tallis sort of falls into step with the rest of you as you approach this. And swinging open the door, you see this was even more beautiful on the inside. You see all of these frescoes and murals painted on the walls that depict the founding of Malecon. All sorts of talk about the architect, the one who built it, the one who. No one's really sure who the architect is. They've kind of become this folklorish figure over the years of this. This person who was able to build this city in this incredibly inhabitant, uninhabitable place. That's the word I was looking for. And there are many murals dedicated to the founding. And you see several of you will at least recognize similar features that you have to your ancestors. Some of several of them painted out. The Valeres and the Idrisi, all very important families, along with the Taluses families that came in early on and brought people, capital and materials to help build up this city from what used to be just Starlight Bastion, the clock tower. The clock tower in Starlight Bastion used to be the exact center of the city a long, long time ago. As you're moving through, looking at this, and you can see the destruction that falling into the pit and the Eld have wrought. The Eld are violently reclaiming the land. You can see areas where the vines have forced themselves up through the floor and are snaking around, tearing down this monument to civilization. And you walk through quietly as to not make a sound. And eventually you get to the center chamber where the nest is. You'll have to sneak past it to get to the vaults. But you see, it is essentially through the floor. The floor has been absolutely torn apart by this massive flower. That essentially is the center area of this. There's a rotunda. And this flower goes up into the rotunda of these yellows and purples and greens. If it weren't so deadly, it might be beautiful. And from it, you see many vines leading off. And the thing that you all notice is sure the plants are alive. You can feel it. This flower is breathing. And you watch as it kind of like mimics breathing, the petals moving in and out. And I need one more stealth roll from everybody to try and bypass this. [00:35:13] Speaker F: Damn. Are you a flower? Because you're breathtaking. I don't say that bright. [00:35:18] Speaker C: Anyways, I'm gonna use a hero point. Good idea. [00:35:23] Speaker F: We have a lot of those. Oh, boy. [00:35:26] Speaker C: I'm gonna maybe use a second hero point. [00:35:32] Speaker D: Peasant dice were nice to me. [00:35:34] Speaker C: They were nice to me for one roll, and then they got screen. [00:35:37] Speaker F: I got 12 on the dice, and I'm not using a hero point because I know I will roll lower. So that is a 23, 31. [00:35:48] Speaker D: I got in that 20. [00:35:51] Speaker C: I went from a 9 to a 5 to a 4. So 14. [00:35:59] Speaker A: No. [00:36:00] Speaker E: Alice is real stealthy, though, right? [00:36:04] Speaker F: That one? [00:36:05] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, he is very stealthy. His boots barely make a sound. And, Lou, you are a little bit captivated by everything that's going on. And there's a moment where you step forward, and then suddenly Tallis hand is on your sternum, holding you back as you were about to just step on a village. [00:36:34] Speaker C: Give him a thumbs up. Not do that, but also brush his hand off so hard. Yeah. [00:36:42] Speaker B: He doesn't keep it there. He just holds it there long enough for you to understand that you should stop. And then you slowly make your way down the stairs. And as you do, you can kind of see where these vines, they continue down deep into the earth. They're sort of like running along the ceilings. And there are places around here where they've just broken through this stone and mortar. And you come to a long hallway with these brass doors. And on each brass door is stamped a crest. And Tallis walks up to the one with the ram's horns. And it is a place to put your hand on the door. And you watch as he does. And there's a moment and then there's a hiss as you see a blade come out from the door, cutting not incredibly far, but just enough to draw blood from his hand. And it seeps into this door and you hear the hiss of it unlocking. He reaches over, rips some of his shirt and wraps it around his hand before pushing the door open. And this coffer is size of a walk in closet. Essentially, this is a small vault to keep precious family heirlooms and texts. He is moving through. This place is wall to wall with books, and he is quickly moving through them. And then after about a minute, he pulls a small book bound in this sort of purple leather off of the shelf and will immediately turn to whoever is closest and hand you the book. It's probably Lou. And says, find Juniper Novak. Give her this book. She will translate it. [00:39:34] Speaker C: Don't worry. We already know that. [00:39:36] Speaker D: Good. [00:39:39] Speaker B: If you have anything to do here, be quick. [00:39:42] Speaker C: Did you not promise money? Not to be crass, but we have a rebellion to run. [00:39:48] Speaker B: You know, of course, he goes over and you wouldn't even have noticed it before there was an area that was designed to hide valuables on the bottom of a shelf. He opens and pulls out a more than fair sized sack. And we'll hand it to you as well and say what remains of the Talis fortune. [00:40:24] Speaker C: Does that imply that you don't have any family members who are less like you, you that you want to. Okay. It makes it all easy. Sorry. You're welcome. I don't know. [00:40:39] Speaker B: I've long come to terms with it. [00:40:42] Speaker C: I mean, it should have happened earlier, so frankly, you should, you should be at terms with it. Yeah. [00:40:53] Speaker B: Yes. If you want to check any of your coffers, please do it quickly. [00:40:57] Speaker D: Yeah, I think Yuri would go to the flair one and we'll be like, I, I, I'll the one. I'll be the one to get stabbed. [00:41:11] Speaker C: Okay. [00:41:12] Speaker B: Take three piercing damage as this thing cuts your palm. [00:41:16] Speaker C: Have a sip. Here's the challenge. Just have a sip. [00:41:21] Speaker D: A school sip. Okay, cool. [00:41:24] Speaker B: And you know, there is that hissing sound as it unlocks and opens. Lou, are you standing next to Yuri? [00:41:35] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:41:38] Speaker B: I don't think either of you are prepared for what you see. You're thinking books, heirlooms, anything like that. There is a ritual circle carved into the floor. And chained in the middle of the ritual circle is a figure. [00:42:01] Speaker C: There's a man. [00:42:03] Speaker D: There's a whole ass man in here. Aubrey. [00:42:05] Speaker C: Is he dead? [00:42:08] Speaker B: No. Slowly he head turns up to look at all of you. It is a tiefling click. The rest of you, similar markings, similar colorings. And they say in kind of a hollow tone. So today's the day. [00:42:39] Speaker D: Sorry, who the are you? [00:42:43] Speaker B: Name doesn't matter anymore. [00:42:45] Speaker C: A little bit it does. [00:42:51] Speaker B: I was a Valer a long time ago. [00:42:56] Speaker C: Huh. And you are left enabled. That has been in a sunken district for a long time. How? Why you're not dead. Congrats. [00:43:11] Speaker B: They tried. Whatever is this thing inside me is a little bit more. Hearty? [00:43:29] Speaker C: Elaborate. We're like real short on time here. We need to know if we got to take you out of here or not. We got a lot of bad relayers. You may not be on the list. I'm not gonna lie. [00:43:43] Speaker B: So the curse still plagues you? [00:43:46] Speaker C: What was is this subtle? Is the bird part subtle? [00:43:53] Speaker B: Not incredibly. [00:43:55] Speaker C: Uh huh. [00:43:57] Speaker B: I was the first. [00:44:00] Speaker D: Mother fucker. And so you'll be just locked in here for how many years? [00:44:11] Speaker B: I've lost count. [00:44:15] Speaker C: Was done inventorial. [00:44:20] Speaker B: A long time ago, yes. Oh. [00:44:23] Speaker D: Has it changed recently? [00:44:27] Speaker B: I haven't had much of a use for it in a long time. So. [00:44:32] Speaker C: Yeah, he. He's got to come right. [00:44:37] Speaker D: One second. I mean, we do kind of want to destroy the name, right? [00:44:44] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. And if mama is even slightly all right, then. Then he did a good thing and. And got punished poor horribly for it. [00:44:55] Speaker D: If we let everyone know that they've been locked up in a CH chamber for however many years, it's kind of gonna. [00:45:03] Speaker C: It's got to help. [00:45:07] Speaker D: Okay. I am going to look at Vittorio Velaire. Grandpappy. Okay, we'll get you out of here. But you're going to have to be really chill about a lot of things really quickly. We're. We're your distant relatives. [00:45:32] Speaker C: Not that distance. [00:45:33] Speaker D: Curse is still around. It's really bad. We're trying to stop it. If you're fine with that, you come with us. [00:45:43] Speaker C: Oh, the world is ending also. And we're not letting that happen. So we have a lot of enemies. [00:45:52] Speaker B: Well, as long as that I can kill the head of the Holy blood. I'll help you. [00:46:01] Speaker C: Hey, we can all raise that. [00:46:04] Speaker D: Already on the checklist. All right. Are. Are you said they were chains to this ritual circle. Okay, I'm gonna like. Is anything bad gonna happen if I break these chains? Do I need to dispel them? Do we need to dispel them? [00:46:23] Speaker B: He says break the circle first. It is meant to trap our bloodline. If you walk into the circle, you will also be trapped. [00:46:34] Speaker C: Oh, other follow up question as we are doing that. If you leave the chains and the circle, are you going to go all month door? And if so, how's your control level? Is it Yori level or my level? I'm bad at it. [00:46:52] Speaker D: I'm good at it. [00:46:52] Speaker B: I've long come to terms with the other one. [00:46:58] Speaker D: Okay, you're good at it. [00:47:00] Speaker C: Okay. [00:47:01] Speaker B: Good years locked in a vault gave me plenty of time to talk to him. [00:47:05] Speaker C: El. [00:47:06] Speaker D: I see. [00:47:07] Speaker C: Yeah, you're absolutely, definitely not related to the Valers in any. Like, when you come break a circle, you're also magic. [00:47:15] Speaker F: I can do that. [00:47:17] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:47:18] Speaker F: All you rich people and I just. As I'm walking, you're just like, this. [00:47:22] Speaker C: Is a huge compliment. [00:47:24] Speaker F: All you rich people and you weird secrets and your suspicious men in vaults, and I'm just like. I'm gonna look at the guy real quick and be like. Just to be completely clear and honest, you don't have any vendett against anyone in this party. Just want to kill the Holy Blood leader. We're fine with that. I just want to make sure we're almost page. Just making sure before I let you go. [00:47:46] Speaker B: Yes. I have no qualms with any of you. I just want to kill Elias Gore. [00:47:56] Speaker C: Hey, he's the guy who arrested us. [00:47:59] Speaker D: That's true. That's true. [00:48:01] Speaker C: He hated our family. Right? [00:48:04] Speaker F: All right, well, welcome to the team then. I'm gonna. I'm gonna kick the circle very coolly. And then as I'm doing that, I'm just gonna look back and be like, wait, if this guy lived for so long because the. [00:48:14] Speaker B: The circle is carved into the floor. [00:48:16] Speaker C: Oh, okay, hold on. [00:48:18] Speaker F: Give me a knife, someone. I'm just gonna sit there, start scratching at it with someone's knife or something. [00:48:25] Speaker B: You know, like, you're probably gonna need like a hammer. At least. [00:48:31] Speaker D: I have a halberd. I'm going to hand you the fiery weapon. It's still on fire, but when you hold it, it will diffuse. [00:48:43] Speaker C: Are you going to undo what you just did earlier? Are you going to have to redo that? Yeah, Because I Haven't I have a. I have the SAP that we stole from prison. It's a blunt object. [00:48:54] Speaker B: Okay. Essentially is you need to break a tile on the floor. [00:48:57] Speaker C: So I'm gonna do that instead of you having to recut yourself because we don't have time to drain the chalice again. Yeah. Okay. [00:49:03] Speaker F: Let's break the tile floor. I just. I'm a weak little man, but I'm like. I'm gonna break the tile floor. [00:49:08] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm gonna need a strength, like a. Like an athletics or a melee attack I'm giving you. [00:49:16] Speaker D: Can I just do it? Can I do it? [00:49:18] Speaker B: As long as you don't step over the ritual circle, you can do it. [00:49:20] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. [00:49:21] Speaker F: I think that might be the better idea. Idea. I am. I am very. [00:49:24] Speaker D: I think. [00:49:25] Speaker B: I see. [00:49:26] Speaker D: I see. Nile, try raising it. And your arm wobbles a little bit. You have the dexterity. You don't have the strength. I'm just gonna, like. Okay, let me just. And then. Yeah, I'll. That's a. That's a 34 athletics. [00:49:46] Speaker B: Yeah, it's. It takes a couple of good hits to crack this stone. And it does help that it's been so long and it's been so long since it's been maintained. And as the stone cracks, you can all feel sort of a pop as this magic is broken. And now just the chains need to be removed. [00:50:13] Speaker C: Could you kindly pick the locks on the chains that are holding my great grandfather in place? [00:50:19] Speaker E: It's like he's locked down, Right? [00:50:22] Speaker B: He is in several places. One around his neck and one around his waist. And both arms are chained to the floor. [00:50:33] Speaker E: Yeah. Luth will step up to help with the chains. That is a 31 thievery. [00:50:43] Speaker B: You're able to get the first one off. I will need two more rolls. [00:50:46] Speaker C: Oof. [00:50:48] Speaker E: She is being quite delicate with it, I think. [00:50:54] Speaker C: Do you want guidance? [00:50:57] Speaker E: Well, this one was good. This was a 34. So maybe for the last one, I could do. [00:51:06] Speaker C: Take a guidance. Yeah. [00:51:08] Speaker E: So I think she does sort of like arms and then waist and goes for the neck. [00:51:16] Speaker C: Oh, good luck. Oh, no. [00:51:23] Speaker E: You distracted her too much. I'm going to use a hero point. [00:51:31] Speaker C: Okay, that's better. That is a 33. [00:51:35] Speaker E: Plus one is 34. [00:51:41] Speaker B: Yeah. Second one, and then the third. It takes time. It has taken you probably close to 10 minutes to do all of this. [00:51:49] Speaker C: Thanks. [00:51:51] Speaker B: And slowly, after the last chain falls, Victoria slowly stretches, because who knows how long it's been chained to that floor unable to move. And he's a little weak. Because yet again, chained to the floor for a long period of time, unable to move, and slowly gets up and walks out into the hallway and kind of just looks around. Well, something at least. [00:52:30] Speaker C: It gets better. One last vault and then we'll get you out of here. [00:52:38] Speaker D: Can you run? Do you need assistance? [00:52:43] Speaker B: I'll be fine. Kind of sort of shakes and you. And Will assume his hybrid form. [00:52:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:52:58] Speaker E: What's it look like? Is it birdie? Is it staggy? Is it a secret bird thing? [00:53:03] Speaker C: He's a bird second, Yuri. [00:53:11] Speaker D: That's fair. [00:53:13] Speaker C: I'm kidding. But. [00:53:16] Speaker D: What'S in the Idrisi? [00:53:20] Speaker C: You got a man too? [00:53:23] Speaker D: Please, no. [00:53:23] Speaker E: We don't have men. We're all women. But yeah, lethal, yes. IDRISI VAULT Laethel put her hand to the door. [00:53:36] Speaker B: Take two points of piercing damage as this hisses and opens. And unlike the other one with the surprise, it's. Someone has raided this vault at some point there or whoever laid the first was incredibly disorganized. But you're pretty sure the book should be on the bookshelf and not on the floor. So if anybody wants to look over any of this, I'm gonna need a perception check. [00:54:13] Speaker E: Yes, I certainly do. [00:54:18] Speaker C: Cab. Is it just. Would it help to be able to smell things? Would that be helpful at all? [00:54:31] Speaker B: Not. Not helpful. [00:54:32] Speaker C: Okay, just as an FYI, I can now I have. I have scent as like a perception thing. I can sniff. [00:54:45] Speaker E: I got a 35. [00:54:46] Speaker B: 35. I got it. [00:54:50] Speaker F: Never mind. [00:54:51] Speaker C: It doesn't matter. I got two. There's. [00:54:54] Speaker E: The smell of your grandpa is too overwhelming. [00:54:58] Speaker C: It's pretty rank. He's been in there a long time. [00:55:01] Speaker D: If you. [00:55:01] Speaker B: He really needs a shower. He really needs a bath. [00:55:04] Speaker C: One of us needs to have prestidigitation. [00:55:11] Speaker B: So Laith. A lot of the books you're looking at appear to be just family records, Births, deaths, things like that. And your looking through and that's when you notice that there is something lodged behind one of these bookshelves. You catch the gleam of a handle. Like a weapon. [00:55:46] Speaker E: I will reach to pull it out. [00:55:50] Speaker B: Yeah, you pull out this exquisite shortsword. It is incredibly well smithed. You can kind of see this secondary metal that's been sort of inlaid in the blade. You're thinking it's silver. And there is the Juicy family crest on the. The pommel. And there is in, you know, night speech, there are runes on the blade. It is a very, very nice sword. [00:56:40] Speaker E: Lace is going to pick it up and just sort of run her finger along the blade Just to see if it has any extra effects when she is cut by it. [00:56:59] Speaker B: There isn't any. Like, you don't take any extra damage. But this has a filigree on it. Give me any kind of magical tradition check or crafting. [00:57:17] Speaker E: Religion counts, right? [00:57:21] Speaker B: Religion does count, yes. [00:57:27] Speaker E: That is a 24. [00:57:32] Speaker B: A 24. There is something about it. Sort of as you hold this, you feel more charismatic, like it may help you be diplomatic. And if anybody else has any magical tradition checks, you could also roll. [00:57:55] Speaker C: I have the. What is it called? Arcane sense. [00:58:03] Speaker B: Arcane sense. Yeah, this is. [00:58:04] Speaker C: I can detect magic. [00:58:06] Speaker B: Definitely magical. And you, I think you have occultism. [00:58:09] Speaker C: Yeah, that too. [00:58:10] Speaker B: Yeah. And if you want to roll me in a cultism. [00:58:12] Speaker D: Okay. [00:58:13] Speaker C: I was hoping maybe the spell would just answer this better because my dice are mad at me. So mad at me. But my occultism is pretty high, so that's gonna be a. Oh, God. I stopped being able to do math at like 10 o'. Clock. 25. [00:58:36] Speaker B: Between the two of you, you can sort of figure out what this is. I'm going to drop it in chat. I'm going to rename. Rename it because it's themed to something very Pathfinder, but it's the Bulka's blessing filigree, so you get a plus one item bonus. Diplomacy checks, perception checks, or in perception checks to sense motive. And additionally, once per day, the filigree symbol can be activated for a healing effect. And it is a one action called gift of life. Once per day, you regain 3d10 hit points. [00:59:18] Speaker C: Your ancestors are looking out for you. [00:59:22] Speaker F: They just get some hp. [00:59:27] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, Laith will, I think, holster it at her side and we'll go ahead and pick up. I assume we are going to a vault, so we brought bags. We'll pick up the various like a GC family books that were left here. Is there in the mess. Is it clear that like they were looking for a book? [00:59:54] Speaker B: Whoever was here before, they were looking for something? You could guess probably a book. [01:00:02] Speaker E: Well, I don't know what that would have been. [01:00:06] Speaker C: So. [01:00:08] Speaker B: Who knows if they found it or not. [01:00:11] Speaker E: Yeah, not me. [01:00:15] Speaker B: All right. [01:00:17] Speaker D: Well, that's all the votes. Are you ready to run for our lives? [01:00:28] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so. [01:00:31] Speaker C: The message. Mother Sc. [01:00:35] Speaker F: Do you have some secret princess lore that you want to tell the class before we go? [01:00:42] Speaker B: Because I'm Gus. [01:00:42] Speaker C: No. [01:00:44] Speaker F: Okay, perfect. I didn't want to deal with that anyways. Let's go. [01:00:47] Speaker C: We try to like sneak out as far as we can sneak and then. And then book it. [01:00:54] Speaker B: Yeah, you can certainly try. [01:00:57] Speaker C: Worth a shot. [01:01:04] Speaker B: Give me stealth checks. [01:01:11] Speaker C: Oh, Dice. Why have you forsaken me? [01:01:14] Speaker E: Yeah, that's just a 25 for lathe. [01:01:18] Speaker F: That's just a 25. [01:01:20] Speaker C: Shut up. [01:01:21] Speaker D: I'm gonna use my second hero point because I haven't used any yet. [01:01:25] Speaker F: Yeah, I'd like to use. [01:01:32] Speaker C: Baby exclusively on stealth checks. It's worse. [01:01:39] Speaker F: I got a 22 and I'm not risking spamming these, so. [01:01:44] Speaker C: So I've used a total of three hero points across multiple checks. This is a different check from the last time, but I did go from a 6 to a 2, so 12. [01:01:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:02] Speaker D: I got a 24. [01:02:06] Speaker B: Unfortunately, the numbers were always going to be higher on the way out. [01:02:13] Speaker C: Yeah, it was just worth a try. [01:02:17] Speaker B: So it is a moment as you are doing this and something has changed. Something has happened as you crest the top of the stairs. There are more ELD here than there should be. And in any other circumstances, you might have been able to get past them, but they notice you. Their dead empty eyes fix on you and they start to move. And I think we'll pick it up next week as we figure out how this escape is going to go. [01:03:16] Speaker F: Yippee Prius. [01:03:19] Speaker C: We got. [01:03:20] Speaker F: I. I love how the above ground group is like, we solved all this stuff. We got so much cool things and we just come back because, like, we. [01:03:26] Speaker C: Got a man. [01:03:30] Speaker D: A whole man. [01:03:31] Speaker F: I got a whole ass gil for you. And also a cool sword, but mostly just some dude. [01:03:36] Speaker C: I put it in the inventory changes that I was tracking for this. Like, not the actual inventory, but the. I was making note of inventory changes for this episode. Oh, man. [01:03:47] Speaker B: Man. [01:03:48] Speaker F: Now add it to your inventory. [01:03:50] Speaker C: We put them in our bag. [01:03:55] Speaker F: All right. Can I take us out? [01:03:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:03:58] Speaker F: Thank you everyone for listening to the wonderful episode of the Gays and Goblets. Don't eat someone's brains raw, because you can actually get Alzheimer's from that. It's contagious. Did you know actually that prions in the brain are one of the few things that typical sterilization techniques can't actually remove from medical equipment? So I have to throw it out when doing brain surgery just in case of cross contamination. The more you know. Anyways, thanks for coming. Have a good night. [01:04:39] Speaker A: I can feel it now. It holds me. All these demons outlays around me. In this red light it calls me. He is reaching out, consuming. And we must face it again. [01:06:22] Speaker C: It.
